We went to this nursery last May and bought a bunch of outdoor shrubs/bushes: 6 rhododendrons & 2 roses - spent almost $700 in total! Unfortunately, ALL 6 rhodies died by mid-Fall, and one of the roses didn't make it through the winter. We went back to Urban Roots, bringing receipts + pictures of the dead plants, still in their mulched beds next to healthy others. It was then we first learned that Urban Roots does not guarantee any of their plants, even $69 Rhododendron! This is surprising since most or all nurseries I've been to provide at least 1 year's worth, it's notable that I've only used once in 50+ years! Anyway, selection was solid with all the expected types, and the initial experience was fine. Just beware "PRODUCTS ARE SOLD AS IS!"

Most of the space is shaded under trees and is a nice place to escape from the sun for a bit. Grab a book from the Little Free Library and sit down to read for a while, or wander and check out all the garden art. There is not much space for parking and the park is gated so pay attention to the hours it's open.

Throughout spring, the little patches of landscaping add a lot of character to the area. A local church group in the area helps run it, although I'm not super clear on how to contribute or join the garden from any signs jogging by it. It's on my regular jogging track. If you ever find yourself in the LaSalle neighborhood in Niagara Falls, maybe if you're walking down to the Amy & Co. coffeeshop from Buffalo Ave, give this place a walkthrough! It's beautiful.

It's also known as the Futures Community Garden, as the Marva J Daniel Futures Prepatory School is just across the street. Very nice as it's affiliated with the school and just a short walk from the Locust Street Art institute.

The park have a lot of history and a more wilderness setting compare to most of the other parks in the area. Interesting area includes Robert Holland Interpretive Centre, George Forster House, Community Allotment Garden and the original farmhouse and barn (York Region's oldest designated buildings). Celebration Forest - Community Tree Dedication Program also available for $150 a tree to to commemorate special occasion. Phyllis Rawlinson Park is the only park in the Town equipped with barbecue facilities and fire pit. There is also a off leash dog park on site too! So Phyllis Rawlinson Park is a great park to take the whole friend including your dogs to spend a nice spring afternoon. A piece of nature that is close to the city!
