The waitress (she is really nice!) said 2 larges would be enough for the 5 of us and she was right - we had almost no leftovers (good thing, we were staying in a motel with no fridge), but it was a stretch (literally) to eat it all. I have to say, for a Northwoods pizza joint the crust was really good. Toppings not half bad either, and they really like to load up your pie with banana peppers. We had a great time. I noticed on the way to the men's room that they have a nice game area for the kids, and it looked well-used. Also liked the free popcorn, though I'm sure it makes lots of people thirsty enough to order another beer. Next year we try the wings!!!

Would just like to mention this Gateway General Store. Like another Yelper out there…read moreexplained...this place has everything. It's the perfect little stop for anything you may need in preparation for visiting Voyageurs National Park. Although Voyageurs NP is huge and there are 3 main sections to it, this Gateway General Store is ideally situated right smack in the middle of it all off the main road in the quiet town of Kabetogama, MN. For me I was camping about 7 miles away for a few days while exploring around Voyageurs and each morning I made it a priority to come by here to to load up on my days worth of food, snacks and any little extras I may have needed. In fact, Kabetogama is so small I wouldn't even know where else to go for the essentials!?!? I'd like to take an excerpt from the Gateway General Store website that sort of sums up the experience that you can expect when stopping on by...."One of the last "True" General Stores where you can find everything.  Regardless of where you pitch your tent or hang your hat you are ALWAYS welcome at Gateway!" They serve hot coffee and breakfast sandwiches in mornings and then as well as prepared cold cut sandwiches for lunch including all the drinks even desserts you may need. For at night when I was barbecuing at my campground, they had all the supplies, hot dogs, hamburgers, charcoal, etc, for my cookouts. I also noticed, Voyageurs NP is a park surrounded by infinite waters and it's best explored by boat. So...the amount of people first coming here in morning times for fishing staples were endless. Each sunrise I stopped on by, it was sort of a ritual for fisherman to go inside before heading out to the docks and piers for the day. They have gas if you need to fill up. Prices were pretty reasonable and not elevated for such a remote park that is Voyageurs...right near the border with Canada. Store hours are 7am - 8pm daily. If anyone cares, the address is....9378 US-53, Kabetogama, MN 56669. Or you can just plug the name into Google Maps on your phone and it'll instantly be recognized. Btw, besides all the food and provisions included, they also have a little gift shop/souvenir store for grabbing your little keepsakes and memorabilia because there's not many options around town other than the Voyageur's Visitor Centers. You can just do all your shopping here at the store. I also like the blue collar feel walking inside. The store had an old fashioned cabin/lodge setting as if I was transported back to simpler times. It definitely had a cozy/charming feeling. Finally, right across the street, if you need to find extra parking because the store got crowded out front with cars, you can do it. Plus, you'll find there's a terrific entrance sign worthy of a photo, at least in my opinion. It says..."Welcome to Kabetogama Lake Voyageurs National Park!" Cool! Overall, I really appreciated all the accessible amenities that this Gateway General Store offered. And for those national park enthusiasts out there needing to check every park off their "to-do lists", when you finally arrive at Voyageurs, you'll almost certainly have to stop on by here and you'll be pleasantly surprised with all the goods and necessities offered, perfect for spending time among nature and the great outdoors.

Orr, MN population: 249 Grocery stores: 1 - this one…read more What you can find in this grocery store: - Fast food corner (pizza looks like it's been under the heat lamp for days...better avoid!) - DVD and VHS rental (yes, they still have VHS tapes...) - Anything prepackaged and unhealthy (chips and dips of all sorts) - Bait and tackle (with 10 lakes in the radius of 20 miles around this store, this is a must! maybe they should reconsider having the live worm tank right next to the ice cream freezer box...just saying) Be prepared to spend about 20 minutes at the cash register getting updated on all the town's gossip. Examples of previous conversation included, but were not limited to the following: -so and so's grandpa got the hemorrhoids again because he spent 10 hours straight sitting on a frozen log calling for moose -the other cashier's son just came back injured from Iraq only to find his wife knocked up in her 8th month (he was gone 9 months without visits, but he's not very good at math, so he hasn't figured it out yet) This store contributed to me gaining about 5 pounds in 3 months, hence only 3 stars. I understand charging a premium at high summer season in a lake area, but this is laughable. In Minneapolis, Cedercrest is one of the most economy ice creams you can purchase in any grocery store. If you want to be the next local millionaire, set up a KEMPS stand on the corner.... apparently, people here will pay any price for frozen milk and sugar.

Returned the boat on schedule but the boat we reserved was still unavailable. They gave us their other boat, which was missing a navigation light (no night fishing), no fishing net and the motor leaked fuel. Returned that boat. Noticed the boat we reserved was at the dock and available. It's Wednesday already but no one had called to let us know. The dock boy called management because no one told him that was our reserved boat. We finally got the boat. Trolling motor was dysfunctional. Returned to dock. Etc. Half of our week was boat troubles. I could continue about unreturned calls, baseless excuses, a dock boy they stranded in a storm...but I will conclude with this; avoid Moosebirds for boat rentals. But, if you must rent here, definitely DO NOT PAY UPFRONT! Being famous for ice cream does not make up for our experience. It's good ice cream only because it's ice cream. Not because it's delicious ice cream.
