Pelican seemed like a very nice place... but the problem is the young man is not a good listener. When he came out to measure my kitchen I told him what our budget was...when we went to see the designs and they were beautiful designs but way out of our price range ($20,000 above) and never showed us anything close to our price range. We since have talked with some contractors who were surprised of the prices we were given and they listened and are going to give us exactly what was offered at Pelican and what we were wanting and below our budget!! I was definitely impressed with our Coordinator, Lindy. She was always there with answers to any of our questions. We love our new floors and relocation of our television viewing area. Once the work began they stayed on schedule and worked with us whenever we had to make a change to the schedule. We were very pleased with the installers and the attention to detail that was shown. I have to start off this review by saying: **Your expectations will be EXCEEDED if you choose Pelican Floors** AND it may seem like I'm an "insider" due to my raving review but I have absolutely no affiliation, personal connection, or incentive for leaving this review. These are my honest opinions from my personal experience working with Pelican. We've already referred 2 friends to them, as well. My husband and I had spent a couple months shopping around for new flooring. We replaced all of the flooring in our 1,900 sq. ft. house (except for in the 2 bathrooms). We had old crappy laminate in our kitchen and awful berber carpet throughout the rest of the house. We replaced it with beautiful new laminate flooring throughout and carpet in our 2 kid's bedrooms. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Pelican Floors is a locally-owned business by the absolute sweetest couple - Zach & Kirsten. When working with Zach & Kirsten you are working with people who seem to truly care about you, your wants, and needs. Zach is incredibly knowledgeable! He proudly refers to himself as a "flooring geek" and rightfully so, in the best way, because WOW does he know his stuff! From the products to the labor & installation, this guy has impressively detailed information to share, which is extremely helpful especially if you're like us and are replacing your floors for the first time. Zach comes out to take measurements and provide you with an estimate for FREE! *Bonus: His measurements and calculations are so precise that the estimate was within $200 of what the actual cost ended up being - IMPRESSIVE! Lowe's charged us to come out & measure and give us an estimate. Kirsten is the friendliest, sweetest woman I have ever worked with! She always has a smile on her face, is quick with communication, and is genuinely happy to assist throughout the whole process. With this pair you are getting top notch customer service that you won't get from a big box store and, from our experience, won't get from some other local smaller businesses either. It is obvious that Zach & Kirsten have a passion for what they're doing and take great pride in treating their customers with above and beyond service. INSTALLATION: The entire process took only 1.5 weeks from start to finish (deposit made to installation complete). This was especially impressive since we were working between Thanksgiving and Christmas which is typically a very busy time of year. We had 2 different crews come out, one for the laminate and one for the carpet. Sergio & Rick were the 2 guys who came out to do our laminate. They truly blew my mind with how awesome they were!! These 2 guys are extremely respectful, friendly, trustworthy, efficient, and detail-oriented. We felt comfortable leaving them in our house alone to work while we went about our daily business. Confirming the times with us first, they showed up early and stayed late to get the job completed in as few days as possible. It took them only 3 days to install the laminate, which took up the majority of our house! They moved all of the furniture and put everything back - no damages and everything was put back in it's exact original place. We have 2 young kids and Sergio & Rick always made us feel comfortable being in our own home even while they were working and took special precautions to ensure all areas were safe for the kids to still be able to get around. Brian & his son came out to do the carpeting in the kid's bedrooms. They were so fast that I was worried the job wouldn't be completed well-done but I was wrong. Within a few hours they came in, moved the furniture, ripped up the old stuff, put down the new stuff, vacuumed, and replaced all the furniture. It was like I blinked and we suddenly had beautiful new carpet that wasn't there just a moment ago. These guys were also very friendly and comfortable to have in our home. PRODUCT & PRICING: Back to how knowledgeable Zach is - He can give you information and details about stuff you didn't even know you'd want to know! This guy is very particular in choosing the products he offers - high-quality with a range of prices. You can go top of the line or stay on the lower end and still be pleased with the outcome. We went with the Elements line (color: "Crema Oak") for our laminate - the price was very affordable and the quality didn't disappoint. This is super cool: Zach allows you to take home samples to try in your house. And I don't mean those small square samples that Home Depot and Lowe's makes you pay for - I mean large samples, ~3'x3', for FREE to lay out in your house. This made it much easier for us to get a true sense of how the product would look in our home. For the carpet we went with the Milestone line (color: "Big Promotion") and we just love it! It is so plush and soft - I actually enjoy taking my shoes off and walking barefoot in my kid's rooms just because it's so comfy! My wife and I went through Pelican Floors to replace all of the carpet in 5 bedrooms and stairs (about 1300 square feet total) with a brand new eco laminate. Zach came out that same day and measured all of our rooms (including the closets) with a laser and inputted the information in a custom program to get exact measurements of our space. He walked us through the process and told us about potential extra expenses (such as leveling or grinding floors) so we were aware of all costs. Zach was knowledgeable and patience with us while we made our decision and never did we feel pressured to make a purchase. When we gave the go ahead, he scheduled one of his flooring subcontractors (Mike) to start the next day. Mike and his assistant (Chris) got to our place the next day right at 10 and quickly got to work. They were able to get all the rooms done in 5 days (3 and a half since they had to leave because our home wasn't available for a portion of a couple of those days). They came back the next day to ensure their work had settled (transitions and nose caps for the stairs especially) and corrected anything that wasn't set. I am extremely satisfied with the service and support I received from my experience with Pelican Floors and would hire them again for future jobs. read more

Paid in full up front for my job (~$4000). Putting tile and carpet throughout my entire home. Two weeks after what was supposed to be a one week job, Pelican and their owner Zach Murray walked off the job 25% done. They called 3 hours later that day and demanded that we pay an additional $1375 or they would not finish and they would put a lien on my home which equates to extortion. The owner called today after we told him we had contacted the police and that were going to sue him for full restitution. Promised that the job would be done today....no surprise they still haven't showed and it's 7pm. Guess we are going to court. I have many more complaints about the poor service and workmanship but I'll leave it at this... Zach, the owner, never once identified himself as the owner even when directly asked. He always said he had to check with his boss...interesting that it turned out to be him. read more

These people are just the worst. There are many, many issues of incompetence with this company start to finish. We ordered carpet paid $9,500 in full and were offered percent off for doing so which they did not follow through on and didn't bother to clarify until we were reviewing documents when things started going wrong with them. This company is incompetent from start to finish. They estimated in writing it would be 2 weeks for carpet to arrive. When I paid they said they would order it and get a firm arrival date to get it on the calendar for installation when it was expected to arrive. They never called me. So over two weeks went by and I'm busy so finally I called um, is it here? First they said yeah it should be. Then Zach tried to act like they had made no error and he'd known this for 2 weeks and there was no need to call to tell me but that he "had been waiting in the queue" (?) for a response and they'd finally gotten back to him that very day I called (what a coincidence) that the color I wanted was on backorder until possibly August/possibly indefinitely. He's a liar. The story could stop right there because there is just nothing worse in the business world than a petty liar who can't take responsibility when they've done even the smallest thing wrong. This was midJuly and I knew I didn't want to wait indefinitely for a carpet color. I wanted to think a couple days about another quicker color option. I finally settled....and then all of the sudden the original color I wanted became available again (mid July still, not August as described) and I got it ordered. Okay, so it was coming that week but I scheduled ahead for July 28 bc that was the best calendar date for us. July 27 came and I had not spoken to anyone at all in awhile which usually I feel like someone from a professional company calls to confirm with you AT LEAST the day before, lets you know what time they will be there, and goes over last minute instructions about furniture and stuff. But no phone call, so especially with my history of they'd just let my $9500 order sit on their desk for two weeks until I called to remind them, I ended up having to call them myself. They came, install was a disaster. After ripping majority of upstairs carpet to shreds they realize there are some imperfections in new carpet and need to reorder. They laid some imperfect new carpet down with MASKING tape and kept some of our old carpet down. Left the worksite indefinitely, didn't even vacuum or return furniture appropriately (furniture out from walls, daughters closet doors ripped from hinges and not put back). We had to complain about wasting so much of our life waiting on them to get it together with this carpet getting ordered and then entire day wasted installing in our home, only to need to rip it out again. I also guess they didn't realize how uncomfortable and invasive it would be to then try to send the disgruntled workers they'd just scolded for leaving our home in such bad shape back the next morning to do a walk of shame and fix up how they'd left our house, we told them no. They've wasted so much of our time with this project, and going on a month out $9500 we paid in full......for carpet we still don't have. We are honestly going to contact the manufacturers allowing them to sell their products, they are terrible reps. Ruining a week of our life by the time this is done and you know what they offered? A coupon for a maid cleaning service they also "own". They may be stretched a little too thin IMO and still need to take your money for a service you paid them to do, regardless of if they've done it well or if they've made your life a lot harder. It was offensively too small a compensation relative to the time they'd wasted messing up every possible step from the time we placed the order. We've been comparing notes with other people in Viera, and something just doesn't smell right with this company financially, they are operating without enough money to fix things when they mess up and they're making decisions out of lack of funds rather than the right thing to do. I had my laminate floors done two days before Thanksgiving last year and was the worst experience we ever had. It was worse than trying to by a used vehicle with bad credit. The installers the company used were rude, unprofessional and unknowable on how to install our floor. It seemed like a rush job to be done and gone before Thanksgiving. There are still a number of unresolved matters but we feel uneasy about using the same company for repairs. I would not recommend this company and are using another vender to do my sister's floor. read more

I was looking to get new carpet for my back two bedrooms. I called around and Pelican Floors were the first to call me back. They came out and measured my rooms the next day. Once I decided on which carpet I wanted, I chose a date for installation 2 weeks later. They guys were at my door at 9 and were so nice and friendly!!! They had to move a lot of stuff and never complained. In fact once they were done they asked if I needed anything else heavy moved!! The carpet looks wonderful!! Pelican Floors is Amazing. It's so nice to work with folks who do just what they promise. I got 5 quotes for this project. Pelican was the lowest. I researched the quality of the products to be installed. Pelican products quoted were the highest in quality. I was doing this project long distance for our condo. Zack and Kirsten were so helpful. The day of the install was horrible, cold and rainy. The installers Sergio and Rick were so pleasant to work with. They were careful about moving our furniture. I have never had the installers clean the under floors like these guys. We also had a big hole in the concrete floor which strangely the folks who installed the carpet last year ignored. They fixed it at no extra cost. When they finished they swept and washed the new floors before putting the furniture carefully back. We will always use Pelican Floors for our condo needs and tell all of our friends about them! read more
