It was a long hard work day and coming late I was too exhausted to prepare anything. This Chinese fast food restaurant sits directly under the A train (where it splits Lefferts Boulevard or Far Rockaway). Peking House is your local cookie cutter Chinese fast food as it appears all the same interior with minimal decor and fluorescent lighting. In scanning the takeout menu nothing appears to entice my interest plus the added fact that it is very overpriced (for lunch) more than Manhattan. One order of beef pepper steak with onion and white rice for 1 pt is $5.55 and for 1 quart is $9.15. However, the lunch special is reasonable priced. Food is Beijing cuisine with American flair in all the Chinese Americanized staples of Egg Foo Young, Lo Mein, Chow Fun, Mein Fun Chop Suey but very disappointingly no noodle soup. Staff also did not acknowledge my presence, as again, I was invisible like the air inhaled. No comment on the food as I opt not to order any. Peking House opens late for the late owls who work late like myself.

They just re-did the place. The food is usually hit or miss but it's right off the train station.

I always…read morehave a predilection for Chinese steam dumplings as I can eat it all day for lunch and dinner including brunch. There were a total of ten (10) pieces which is generous size as most Chinese takeout cafes provide the standard eight (8) pieces for shrinkage resulting from inflationary pressures and the uphill battle to sustain increased operational costs. It was accompanied with soy sauce as condiment. The dumplings were fresh and average. Customer service is average. Sales receipt is provided upon request and is handwritten the old school way. There is one large oversized takeout menu for grabs which the associate blatantly upfront stated: "the prices will be change and this menu is going to be outdated." Well, at least I can review the menu for the food options offered - not noting the price. The interior ambiance dark, dingy and very dated to 1980s era. Sometimes, I even make the trip all the way from Staten Island to come here [yes, because I have nothing better to do :) ] Their food can be a bit greasy but I figured I only live once. And honestly, who eats Chinese if isn't on their cheat day while wearing sweats? I love their chicken and broccoli. It is my favorite thing to order from them. While, their chicken lo mien is good, it tastes like the other standard Chinese food take out places. Seriously, their chicken is soft and almost melts in your mouth. The broccoli is cooked to perfection, it is neither too soft or stiff. The staff is very nice and attentive. I have been ordering here for years and even after moving -- 8 years later they still remember my voice and order.
