Great service!! We had a private room and the concierge team at the Fairmont helped secure the reservation since we reserved for 20 people last minute. Meaning the same day first thing when they opened on Saturday the 22nd. The staff at Peking Garden were very friendly and helpful. We had two large tables to accommodate my family and one table were mostly kids so it was great since they let them order what they wanted according to their liking. As for the adult table we ordered what we would love to eat. We had Peking duck, string beans with salted egg, bok choy with black mushrooms, Mongolian beef, salted fish and diced chicken fried rice, whole Lapu Lapu in spicy sauce, seafood E-mein, crispy fried chicken, and trying to remember if there was anything else. All delicious!! Amazing! Love the fact they had private rooms. It has blue and white wall paper which reminded me of the regency era .i can't remember the print but i loved the look and the place was clean and you can see everyone at the restaurant enjoyed their food. This is one of my cousin's favorite places to have Peking duck! I remember going here with my cousin and her best friend. Since it was my cousin's birthday, she decided to order the Peking Duck. We couldn't stop laughing when we saw people looking at our table. I guess they were surprised that 3 people were going to finish the duck. I guess they were accustomed to seeing a larger group of people ordering the duck. We finished the wrapped duck slices, but we had to take home the duck cooked the second way. It would have been 5 Stars, but . . . My dessert was not good to the point that I would consider taking it off the menu!!! We came in for our one meal on Ash Wednesday - - we got dried ashes on our foreheads & I dressed super casual (shorts & a Nazarene t-shirt). The place looks like they were higher class than what I was wearing, but what the heck. What I noticed during the meal, only one member of the staffed smiled - - only one!!! We came in looking for Chinese, specially the standard Chinese that they have in the States - - shrimp egg foo yung and/or shrimp lo mein. Don't bother, they don't have. At first, we were like - - what should we order now. We rolled the dice on the following: Prawns w/Sweet & Spicy Sauce: outstanding!!! If you order one thing on the menu, this should be it. It's sweet, but not overly. It spicy at the end, but not burning where you're looking for cold milk to cool your mouth. The spiciness lingers after you swallow, but again, a pleasant spiciness. Make the trip here for this. Steam Vegetable Dumplings: super. Not salty, great taste. Fried Ramen Noodles w/Shrimp: another outstanding dish. How many times have we gotten noodles & the dish is salty? This is perfect. Highly recommended. Hot Green Tea: I have to mention this because normally drink green tea at a Chinese Restaurant. Their tea is very enjoyable. We absolutely loved it. If we ended the meal there, all would have been fantastic - - but we were talked into dessert. Red Bean Buchi Balls: they came out hot. The taste was good. For me, they could have been slightly sweeter. My wife loved them just the way they were. Chilled Mango Shake w/Sugo: apparently the shake is supposed to be made with mangoes, ice, & either ice cream or light cream - - there was no ice cream at all - - it was very watery. Sorry, poor effort. As I stated earlier, the restaurant should consider taking this off the menu. It's only 98 pesos, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. I would recommend that the staff be more welcoming. It's almost that because I was underdressed, they treated us as second class. A great example of what can be done with a restaurant -- Truly great service and excellent food in a very clean, climate controlled restaurant. I think the address is a bit misleading? Its on the 5th floor of Greenbelt 5. Fantastic wait staff -- eager to please and help with presentation, take out, refills, etc. Summary -- had the Sweet and Sour shrimp, Sizzling Lamb, and nice chips. Each item was very tasty, full of flavor and presented very nicely. I never really knew about the wonders of eating roasted duck before I came to Peking Garden. I tend to order the same dishes whenever I would be at a Chinese restaurant. On those rare occasions, I was never without the standard Yang chow rice, egg rolls and sweet and sour pork. But that was until I tried the crispy duck at this restaurant. I never realized that a bird could taste that this good. The crispy skin combined with the hoisin sauce and green onion gives you a rich flavor that almost crumbles when you bite it. It's a show to watch it carved in front of you, and thrilling to roll it yourself. All the other dishes offered in this restaurant taste phenomenal, and I could go on and on about them. But I will leave the reader to taste everything for himself. Just don't forget to order the Peking duck. read more

With a restaurant name Peking Garden, you can definitely expect that they serve PEKING DUCK! There are not a lot of good restaurants that have peking duck and this is the best one I've tried so far. The restaurant has a typical Chinese look with its large size restaurant and big tables for families to dine in. It's always so packed and busy as the waiters move from one table to another and as the noise of the people are heard all over the room. It's definitely not a place you should go to if you want a nice quiet meal. The Peking Duck they have is crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. You can only order it as a whole size and it will be brought out to you for you to see before it is sliced. The slicer then slices it into thin even parts making it perfect for wrapping with the leeks and hoisin sauce. It's amazing! I can never have enough! read more

I've got three words for you - Barbecued. Peking. Duck. How can one resist this crispy, juicy, crunchy thing of perfection? A house specialty of the fine-dining Chinese restaurant, Peking Garden's Barbecued Peking Duck is hands-down, the best in town. Ordering the whole bird costs Php 2,300 and it can serve up to 6 to 8 persons. For an additional Php 300, it can be served two ways and this is really the way to go. Peking Garden takes the process of slicing the duck into an art form. Highly trained servers cut up the duck evenly, with just the right amount of juicy meat and skin that's roasted to an even, brown crisp. The first way of eating the duck is by placing the slices onto the thin pancakes provided, spreading a bit of the hoisin sauce, topping it up with a fresh, green onion leek and wrapping it into one tiny bundle of joy. The second way of enjoying it is by placing the minced duck meat onto a lettuce wrapper and drizzling it with hoisin sauce. One more way of eating it that will surely release your inner caveman or woman is by having the kitchen fry up the duck bones with peppercorns. If this can't get you gnawing on the duck bones, barbarian style, I don't know what will. read more

When you call yourself Peking Garden, you have to have great Peking duck or else you do not deserve to exist. Good thing this one gets it, and gets it good. Like most people, we have our Peking duck in at least two ways. The first one is the skin with hoisin, spring onions and a wrap, and the other, stir fried meat with hoisin wrapped in lettuce. Theirs were both excellent. Sometimes, we have a third way, which is soup. But it is in Peking Garden where I discovered another way, which is to deep-fry it with pepper. From now on, I am going to have a third way in this direction. I found myself gnawing at the bones despite the fact that I was already experiencing a food coma. If you haven't tried it this way, I suggest you do, and I suggest you do it in Peking Garden. read more

You can't go wrong with having some Peking duck in Peking Garden. It's that time of the year again and there are a lot of birthdays to attend to. The family is big so it makes more sense to share food. 13 is the magic number and there will be more than enough food go around in the middle of the table. Because it's a celebration, there will be duck. A large combination of cold cuts arrives and we slowly take turns turning that Lazy Susan in the middle of the table to get our hands on some pork, chicken, jellyfish, and century egg to put on our plates. More and more food begin to arrive until the Lazy Susan is soon filled up and left with no more space to put another dish. As we make our way through all these dishes, there is a small separate table for the main highlight and reason we go to a place called Peking Garden. Why would you come to a place called Peking Garden after all if you're not going to have some of that famous Peking duck? On the small separate table the glistening duck sits there resting and calling back to you saying that upon contact of that thinly sliced duck skin touching your tongue that skin is going to melt and dissolve into some of the best cholesterol you'll have. The waiter cuts the duck up and puts it in a thin pancake. Some scallions, hoisin sauce, duck meat, and thinly cut crisp duck skin goes inside the pancake and is rolled up. The table makes its rounds and finally we get our hands on one of these rolled up pancakes. After eating that rolled up pancake, we reach out to that other plate with some of the extra duck skin and meat. We take a piece of skin and let it rest in our mouths until it dissolves into our blood stream for some high cholesterol levels that we won't ever regret. This is after all what we came here for. The duck has done it once again and melted into my mouth. My cholesterol has probably gone up temporarily and there will be no regrets. Right now, no other place in Manila does Peking duck quite as good as Peking Garden. Because it's a celebration, there had to be duck. read more

I would be very surprised to read anything less than a five star review for the famed Peking Garden located right in the heart of Makati. I suspect that any upper class family with a drop of Chinese blood in them has been here at least once. As for myself, I was just fortunate enough to be invited to a distant relative's birthday celebration. And I'm so glad that I was. The duck here is unlike anything I've tasted in Manila. It's crisp, juicy and just melts in your mouth. Everything else is standard, but come on, I would sell my soul for their duck alone. read more

Peking Garden continues to be one of my favourite restaurants as you can always count on this place to serve really good Chinese food. It's a real steal to go here during the the 50% off sale. Yes, you heard me right. Peking Garden usually teams up with credit card companies to give a promo to all credit card holders. I often go here because of that promo. Nevertheless, the quality doesn't go down even though it's on sale. My family and I love ordering the following: Cold Cut Combination (the one with century egg, jellyfish, chicken and asado) as the appetizer. I don't recommend you get the Sharks Fin Soup anymore as this is not helping the environment because the sharks are almost extinct. Just get the Bird's Nest Soup with Fresh Crabmeat. It's super good! My favourite vegetable dish here is the Crispy Vegetable, Conpoy with Bamboo Shoot and Walnuts. It's very different from what I've tried in other Chinese places. I love how the candied walnuts add some new flavour to the bamboo shoots. Of course we get Peking Duck, two way (one with the wrappers and the other one that's sautéed which you place on lettuce). Peking Garden is hands down, is my all time-favorite Chinese restaurant! Their pecking duck is such a godsend in my life! Whenever my family and I would come here, we would always order it, that is how much of a staple it is! They pride themselves for their ducks and they're actually doing a pretty good job living up to that name! The pecking duck can be cooked in three ways. The usual roasted duck that is cut into thin slices. They place it on separate plates. One plate has the meat and the other has the crispy duck skin that's irresistible to munch on together with the soft wrap! The second way is the lettuce wrap. They stir fry the rest of the meat and mix it with carrots, celery and peas. I suggest you have the lettuce wrap for take-away since the first way is satisfying in itself. Finally, for those who don't like to waste one bit of their food or secretly like to munch on to the bone itself, go ahead and ask for the third way of the duck too! It's clearly what is left from the rest of the duck. The bones with a fair amount of meat stuck to it are cut into pieces and deep fried to absolute flawlessness! Trust me, it's going to be one of the most delicious ways to cook duck. Eat every way with a generous amount of Peking Garden's special hoisin sauce to complete the experience! The spinach soup is also really good and freshly made at all times. If you really like shrimp, don't miss out on the hot prawn salad! Most hot prawn salads I have tried either have too little shrimp or too much mayonnaise! Complete your order with the standard Yang Chow fried rice and you're all set! read more
