I would probably not go to this studio again, even for a free class. The classes are not horrible,…read moreit will probably do the job as a basic yoga studio. But I'll explain my two star rating. First of all, the studio is an old garage converted into a studio space. There is no washroom, no sink, nothing. You have to exit the studio and use the Juice Truck's washroom if you need it. Air circulation isn't great. They do have a water machine. Second of all, yoga mats are placed in two rows facing each other, and the instructors mat is in the middle ish on one side. Not really a typical layout. I am used to everyone facing one way towards a mirror. Now this is probably what does it for me. The equipment they have is very old. I don't use it, but the issue is there is a strong odour from all of that. Paired with poor air circulation and lack of daily cleaning, the odour can be quite distracting. I would describe the smell to be a mix of feet, sweat, and stuffy air. I'm used to hot yoga studios that clean their studios between classes and have some sort of washroom or change room. This studio really doesn't do it for me, even though they charge comparable rates for drop in. It's really not a good value seeing as they have no facilities and do not take care of the studio. The hatha class I took was all right. I found it to be a little on the easy side, but looking at the people who attend, it's a slightly older crowd so that makes sense. One plus is that they offer free classes periodically. Knowing this, I would still not go again. Parking can also be a headache, especially in the summer.

PROS: Perfect Hearts Yoga is a very cute, cozy, intimate community yoga studio in Steveston. It…read morecaters to both beginners and advanced yogis. If you are a beginner, it is a great studio to learn, as it does not have the pretentious quality found at some other studios. They are also accepting of all body types and shapes. 99% of the instructors are very good ... each have their own style. CONS: On an ongoing basis, the month-to-month pass it actually costs MORE per month than going to YYoga and paying for an annual pass. While it is cute, the studio is an old garage converted into a yoga space, there is no bathroom -- one can access the cafe bathroom, but this is not really convenient as one has to open the locked door, go use the one bathroom, and then relock the cafe door -- for nearly a year, even this has not been available, one must go to the Steveston post office, or coffee shop to use the bathroom. As well, there are zero amenities. So, it is very surprising to me, that yoga would costs virtually the same or more here being it is a little community studio. The owner is a superb yoga instructor, but can be inflexible on the business side of things, e.g. (1) if one asks for an adjustment which would NOT result in less money to her, she still says "no" immediately, (2) there are no holds on passes while you are on vacation, (3) there is a 12 hour notice cancellation policy on a reservation - e.g. - I reserve a class online to go to after work, if I end up not being able to go to a class because something comes up at work, I still have to pay for the class I reserved, and lastly, (4) cramming 14 yogis at times in a studio best suited for 10 to 12 max. Overall a nice little studio who should consider lowering their prices in light of this being a small community studio operating in an old garage. If the prices reflected the "cons" given it is a small community studio, it would be fine, but they don't. Would give it 3.5 stars overall.

UPDATE: Everything I listed in my review below was the truth…read morefrom my interaction & experience with The Hot Box Yoga. I have all emails & social media screenshots to back me up in case of any legal dispute. I will not be updating or responding to any further attempts by said biz owner to bicker publicly. After I had posted the original review below, biz owner Chris left a public response, in which he made up lies about our interactions, and posted up my private personal info (full name & Instagram handle). In his response, he was deflecting from the real issue (that they made a mistake with the pass expiry date, said they fixed it, but never did). He did NOT address or mention this mistake in his response at all, instead choosing to focus on an earlier denied pass extension request that I had already accepted was denied. He also stated (for all you future customers) that The Hot Box Yoga Sale passes are for people who "cannot afford" to use their studio at regular prices. His abusive & customer privacy-violating response was flagged & has since been removed by Yelp HQ. In all my very little (3 short emails & 2 Instagram comments in total) communication with The Hot Box Yoga, I have only been polite & stated facts, hoping they would fix the pass expiry mistake they had made. I have never requested for any compensation, nor have I ever expected any from them. When the mistake was never fixed despite my attempts to reach them, I left the review simply to let others know about my personal experience dealing with this studio. I'm sure anyone who sees this will have a better idea of their operations & customer service standards after reading this. - Original review below: Used to be a fan of The Hot Box Yoga for a few years now, but this recent incident has showed me how their operations are and how they treat customers. They made a mistake on a Black Friday sale pass, which wound up expiring two days before the advertised date. Both my friend & I had bought this pass. When I reached out to them via email, the owner Sarah claimed to have fixed the issue, but did not actually do so. As a result, we were unable to book classes on the last 2 days. Upon trying to reach them politely again on social media to get the issue fixed for good, they blocked me. (Funny thing was, they were even following & interacting with me before, because I was always posting positive pics & tweets about their classes & events. My social media followers will know this for a fact.) Issue was never resolved, emails sent were ignored. We were unable to use the remaining classes on our class passes. It is obvious that they did not want to fix the mistake, nor did they want this legit customer issue to be known anywhere public. Terribly disappointed and never returning back here again. Fellow yogis, always be sure to check your pass expiry dates - even if they made a mistake with the dates, they will not fix it!

Their online site is easy to use and at the checkout there was an option for first timers. I chose a 4 pm class but plans changed and we needed the 10am class. Unfortunately I couldn't get ahold of anyone on the phone but read walk ins were welcomed so I figured we'd give it a shot. I was right! We were greeted by Sarah and she kindly welcomed us into the 10am class (which we got there with minutes to spare). She assisted us with mat rentals, water, and reassured my partner that though this was her first time, she'll be fine. Sarah is a great instructor, even helping my partner with some poses. We would absolutely get a membership if we lived here or were even staying longer! Very clean and pleasant. She also suggested taking the scenic route back downtown--which we did. Great experience! Thank you
