Decent Mall, it's good to still have one in the East Bay!!…read more I usually get some good deals in JC Pennys, that might be the largest store in this mall along with Macys! There's a food court and movie theater downstairs. This mall isn't huge, decent sized to me. Sears used to be major in this mall, it even had auto center there. I remember getting tires put on there back in the day. Now it's gone, along with a lot of other stores. But there are still plenty of stores here, enough to keep this like a real Mall. And I always liked the location, right off of the 880 freeway in Hayward, very easy to get to!!!

Oh and let's not forget Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour! Uh yeah, I'm dating myself... BIT of HISTORY: Claimed as the West's Largest Climate-Conditioned retail development in 1957. The progressive Mid-Century shopping center was designed by the acclaimed architecture firm John Graham & Associates, known for projects as Seattle's Space Needle A shopping mall you wanted to hang out and stay awhile but with changing demographic, online commerce and sadly, crime it has evolved into what it is now. Just a shell of what it once was with a couple of stores I'd go for a quick visit. When in the area, I'll get a 15-min Chinese acupressure chair massage (Round One entrance). Extra star for the great memories of working at the mall (making friends) and learning what good customer service is compared to now. Sadly, most the anchor stores are gone like Sears with JcPenneys and Macy's hanging by a thread with minimal inventory.

Lido Faire Shopping Center is located in Newark, CA on Newark Blvd. It's a pretty big shopping…read morecenter and consists many different stores, shops, and restaurants. Before it used to be kinda empty after Lido Supermarket left....however in 2005 when 99 Ranch Market moved in things started looking better for this shopping center, more stores, shops, and restaurants! Now it's a thriving Asian shopping center! Here is a list of the general big retail stores and restaurants: 99 Ranch Market Lido Saigon Seafood Harbor Restaurant Little Sichuan Restaurant 85 Degrees Bakery Cafe Newark Buffet East West Bank Dollar Tree Wendy's Popeye's Chicken & Biscuits Big O Tires The other side of the shopping center consists of some of following Restaurants and Stores: Fitness 2000 & Kids Castle Chevron Gas Station Del Taco Quiznos CoCurry Thai Cuisine Kioku Sushi Iron Sushi Newark Good Year Tire Center Bank of the West Parking: Parking here at this shopping center can be a HASSLE especially on the weekends due to soo many different restaurants & shops, 99 Ranch Market, Dollar Tree and now the newly opened 85 Degrees Bakery Cafe. I recommend parking on the opposite side of the shopping center, by Fitness 2000 and Kids Castle and walking towards the 99 Ranch Market area because it will be EXTREMELY difficult to find parking near that side on the weekends, weekdays however you should be fine. ** However, please be aware and do NOT park your car in the Wendy's or Popeye's parking lot, your car is subjected to be TOWED unless of course, your dinning at Wendy's or Popeye's. So if your shopping at 99 Ranch Market or 85 Degrees Bakery Cafe, do NOT park in the Wendy's or Popeye's lot!** Shopping Carts: Both Dollar Tree and 99 Ranch Market have shopping carts for customers to use during their trip to the store, so you can be sure to find plenty of shopping carts throughout the shopping center parking lots. Overall, it's a pretty big and decent thriving Asian shopping center that is now full of businesses after 99 Ranch Market moved on in!

People park everywhere (including making random places their own parking spot because they're too lazy to park a bit farther). I've been here for Rigatoni's, Bank of the West (Now BMO), Health Unlimited, and iSushi. On the other side was a Safeway, Ross, Castro Valley Bowl along with other businesses. Update: after coming to the Village Shopping Center additional times since my above comment had been notarized, there are days or perhaps certain times of the day where the parking lot appears empty and it is easy to find parking, while on the majority of times / days I have been - they are usually packed with hardly any parking avail. Sometimes I have been lucky to snag a spot where someone was just about to back out. The spaces are kind of tight and narrow pathways, drive slowly! There are a lot of businesses that have remained here since I was a child and student at CVHS. Lots of new fronts and name changes to others. I haven't taken a stroll around the entire center, but there's a drug store, ice cream parlor, discounted home goods, apparel stores, fitness businesses, specialty goods and boutiques, bakeries, coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, the bowling alley is still here, nail salons, juicers, and more. Since its the holiday time, they had a tree lighting ceremony advertised. I thought that was a nice community event that might bring people and families together, though I questioned where the tree was going to be due to the tight space. I would want this center to continue to have a lot of business - good businesses here. I want to see CV's downtown area become an area that I would like to frequent or go to vs. driving to Danville or Walnut Creek or San Ramon. I hope there would be ways to create more parking around the area while increasing the businesses or being strategic in which new businesses should open to create a thriving atmosphere.
