Newpark mall has been in business for 46 years . It was officially opened since August 6, 1980 seeing the Tri city area of Fremont , Newark and Union city . It was over 2.6 million square foot . Macys and Sears were the anchored stores . Early 2017 , it completed an update to add a 22 screens AMC theater . It was nostalgic to walk here . Our kids and some of us grew up visiting this mall past 46 years ! The mall was officially closed by June 2026 . Canadian brand Asian supermarket T&T has announced plans to take over 726,000 square feet of the former Macys anchor lot . Winter 2027 will be the projected grand opening for the flag ship East bay location . This T&T supermarket will be the biggest one in California. The service was awesome, it was busy but they took care of me very quickly. There were lots of freshly baked cookies and lots of drinks. I was so happy to get some. I live in San Francisco and they closed all if the stores. So I was happy to get the Debra's Special and White Chocolate and Macadamia. Nuts. UPDATE: Miniso, H&M, Charlotte Russe, Zumiez, and the whole food court are gone. Now I see why Fremont Auto Mall is getting busy with new stores and restaurants opening. LMAO, I can NOW finally 1 star this place since it is now FAR much worse than the most terrible mall that I've been to that is close to me down south. Almost everything is gone in this mall now. The only thing I feel that is keeping it alive is the Yugo Ramen, Jack's the AMC, Miniso, the gym, and maybe Hot Topic and Box Lunch. Gone are the Incredible Pizza Company, almost the entirety of the food court, the Sanrio, Beard Papa's, Auntie Anne's (NEVER a good sign when the pretzel place leaves your mall), Bath and Body Works (also never a good sign either), the boot leg anime shop, and so much more. You can be done with this mall in less than an hour to be honest. I can't even say what would resuscitate this mall at this point. There's a HaiDiLao that is way too close. Maybe opening a Round One? A Din Tai Fung or another fancier food chain that attracts the masses? I don't know but it's looking quite grim here when I think this is somehow worse than the Puente Hills Mall... read more

This mall has potential to be a decent mall, since it was better back in its time. However, things have changed and not for the better. Nothing seems to get done or progress in this mall. It just gets worse by closing more & more stores. Yes, online shopping is more easily available, but I still like going in person to see what's new from time to time. Only reason I mainly go here is for the restaurants outside, some boba shops, the nail place, and H&M specifically. Bringing in Costco and the gym doesn't help, since you need memberships for those and they're not actually in the mall, but outside. AMC is ok but I barely go there. I don't really understand why it has to be in a mall? At times I have had iffy signal here. read more

I am sad to say but this mall isn't gonna go anywhere. I really hoped that it somehow gets improved, but instead, it got worse. Businesses inside the mall just keep on coming and leaving due to poor foot traffic. Macy has announced its departure. So good luck going outside of Newark to find another one. The food court still feels empty since it's close to not having any food vendors. The reason why people go around here is because of places like Jack's Restaurant & Bar, Costco, and 24HR Fitness. It's disappointing that this mall used to have a lot of people coming in and now almost no one wants to go there. Newpark Mall is in bad shape. There are not any good stores to shop. Macy's is the only store with any action. There is more activity outside of the mall than indoors. Jack's is usually busy with people enjoying lunch and dinner. 24 hour fitness has a stream of individuals attending exercise classes and workouts. The farmers' market on Sundays attracts buyers for fresh produce and pastries. read more

Late Post But me and my girlfriend and her cousin and a couple of his friends went to the Haunted or Scream Overload Park which was located inside of a mall. Really fun and great experience hood to go next year as well. read more

This place used to be so much better. Online shopping really did kill this place. The food court only has three restaurants. The open to close hours are ridiculous. I don't think this mall will ever recover and be the place it once was. I'm really giving it a one star but it gets an extra star for nostalgia. read more

A dying mall :( When I first visited a few years back I thought it was a relatively nice place. There was always plenty of parking and it's attached to one of the best AMC's around (lots of theaters, those comfy seats and just pretty big in general). I think it might have gotten hit pretty bad through COVID or something. The only big (and I mean size wise) store left is the Macy's and even that looks like it's dying with some of its bare sections and older atmosphere. There was only a handful of food places open at the food court, I think it was a grand total of three in the main hun with an Auntie Anne's and something else right across the way. Not even the Subway was open and the BK is completely gone. They haven't upgraded the directory to match though. Still shows JC Penny, Nordstrom, the Disney store and many others that have vanished. I do hope this place makes a com back. It has the potential to be very nice, and that theater is a real nice draw, but for now it's pretty sad and empty. read more

The NewPark Mall is an absolute terrible mall for any of your shopping needs. It's almost like the city wants it to die. 60 jewelry stores, 10 boba spots, and a couple cell phone screen repair kiosks. But the Farmer's Market every Sunday is a diamond in the rough!! The Filipino pop up spot next to the popcorn stand is fire!! The BBQ pork sticks are always a must and are rich with flavor. They have meals as well. The #1 combo has the pork sticks, rice, and lumpia. It also comes with a drink. Great value for alot of food!! Oh, and the mall sucks. read more

This mall seems to have gone downhill over the last few years. I've heard there's a new owner, who's working on remodeling. Many stores are closed off leaving the mall pretty much empty except Macy's and maybe a couple of food stalls from the food court. There's going to be a Costco that's replacing Burlington so hopefully there's more upcoming projects. read more

This mall is barely a mall. It's become a ghost town. Thank goodness for the added restaurants and Costco next door: Surprisingly the Macys is still open. Not much to brag about here. But you can grab a bite to eat and watch a movie at the theater. Ample parking for this dying mall. read more

There used to be a Sears, JCpenny, Burlington, Victoria Secrets, Forever 21, and other key stores that had brought this mall alive. It's sad to see the inside of this mall now. I'm very confident if the city really tried, they can have revived this mall. Instead it sounds like they want it to fade away. Came here briefly on the way to picking up dinner. Hadn't been here for probably nearly a decade. And I was SO shocked and disappointed with how sad this mall has become. Nearly half of the stores are empty or closed. The mall felt unkept and abandoned. I must admit that I liked how uncrowded the mall was so that i felt covid safe, but it was only bc there were barely any customers. Unfortunately, w so few shops, there is no reason to really return. Okay so... one of my friends actually said NewPark Mall is a huge pass, but obviously me being me I said no and went for it.. It's really so-so. The outside looks nice. There's plentiful parking all around, but that's kind of where the magic ends. I feel like only 60% of the mall was really open, the rest was empty spaces just waiting to be filled. I wrote an initial review that was super negative bc the store I came for was closed 40 minutes before the mall closed...turns out the employee was on break and I missed the sign! The store was super clean and the employee very nice, but it sucks that this mall is so dead and wildly understaffed that they could only get a break by closing the store. Bring back the stores and the food court and people in the area would be delighted! read more

Finally, NewPark mall has gotten a great facelift and for the better. Open clean space and more seats for those lazy husbands or boyfriends that can't hang with us shoppers! Hahaha... There are much better stores that I like to shop at, food options and so much cleaner! They have an AMC movie theater, Target, 24Fitness and new restaurants surrounding the mall. This mall is hanging on - but just barely. The revamped area with palm trees near Jacks helps a bit but its really just lipstick on a pig. 24 Hour Fitness and the new movie theater appear to help with some foot traffic - but more is needed to help revive this place. The area where Toys Are Us used to be is particularly deserted. The whole area looks so strange and it appears that the Dodge dealer fenced off the area to store new cars parked every which way. I do like the food court. Has a few skylights and people seem to pop out of their zombie like state as they eat here. There is a sad little Subway but there are some other more popular places too. Hot Dog on a Stick adds some energy and ambiance. I think the Journeys store here at this mall makes for a good model of what brick stores need to look like now in the era of online shopping. Journeys has a small footprint and likely has lower overhead due to this fact. I suppose the most disappointing part of this mall is Macys. As I walked in I was surprised how run down the place looked. I expect so much more from this retailer... and I think this place gives them a bad name. I have been giving chances of going to this mall between many months for a while now. I have to admit this mall is not going to be seeing any new stores or brands soon sadly. If you haven't been here in the past 6 months or so, you can already see a few more businesses closed down. The ends of the corridors are all filled with closed entrances and supplies that were left behind. I went to Charlotte Russe yesterday, October 26th. I had theeeee rudest store employee assist me. I waited at the counter for her to come over and ring up my transaction. When she approached the counter, I greeted her. She looked right at me and said nothing. I thought that she didn't hear me so I spoke AGAIN. She ignored me again. So, I let it go. I was heated. How rude can you be? Her description? African American..chunky...mean scowl. Face piercings. Red/black natural hair. I have never been treated that way in any store. I know that she wasn't hard of hearing because when I arrived, she was laughing loudly with a coworker in the front corner of the store. I actually own a store and would NEVER treat my customers this way. She should NOT be working with the public. This irritated me so, that I'll be contacting Charlotte Russe's corporate headquarters. read more

Overall love this mall. Plenty of parking. Many store. They have the AMC theater + johns incredible pizza. So that's a plus. They have many great restaurants around. Foodcourt sucks! This is a very sad little mall. There's always been very light business here, and even after they remodeled and replaced nearly the entire food court with new businesses, the number of people frequenting the mall is slight. This is weekends as well as weekdays. Compared to other malls like Stoneridge, Valley Fair, and Great Mall (which my parents have actually tried to go to on weekends but then gave up and left because they couldn't find parking!), the store selection is severely lacking. There are some recognizable brand name stores such as Victoria's Secret and Hollister, but stores like Lululemon (or other activewear establishments) and Express and Abercrombie are missing. This is very inconvenient if you're trying to go to the mall and return something from an online order and this is the closest mall to you. At least one pro is that there's always plenty of parking. read more
