I brought 2 bracelets in for repair. One was an anklet. They charged over $300 for the 2. The…read moreanklet was cut down so much I could no longer wear it. I went in to see about a chain extension. I was told by the sales person "I could order you one but this anklet is going to keep breaking because it's so worn. The other was a bracket that needed a clasp. I was able to wear it for about a week and it broke just behind the clasp. Had they told me both were not worth repairing I would have bought new ones. But since all they wanted to do was take my money I will not be going back to this business and would strongly recommend any one needing jewelry repair to go elsewhere.

My husband wanted an 18" gold chain for me. They sold him a 20" chain and told him it could be…read moreshortened later. When I inquired about shortening it I was told unless it was covered under the protection plan there would be a charge but because it was an estate piece there was no protection plan for it. Does that make sense? Then I was told it would cost $62 dollars to shorten it. They should have told him that right up front. As a courtesy they should have shortened it at the time of purchase at no charge or a very minimal cost. This is not the way to do business so they will not get any more of mine or my family or friends.

I've always wanted to take this friend of mine to this store and finally we traveled up north for the weekend and I took her there. When we walked in the owner was working with another customer so we patiently waited for her to get done with the customer. It was taking quite awhile but we waited. At one point the owner's cell phone rang and she was casually talking on the phone to someone she knew, we could tell because it sounded like she was talking to a relative. She never said to the caller "Can I call you back? I'm with a customer." She just kept talking as if she was sitting in her kitchen having coffee with this person having a casual conversation but instead she just kept talking on the phone making the customer she was helping and my friend and I wait. Finally she got off the phone and went back to helping the customer. It looked like it was going to be a while till she was going to be done with the customer in the store so I asked "What time are you closing today? We will come back in a little bit " and she said, in an annoyed tone, something along the lines of "When I decide I'm done today." My friend and I were shocked by her response. I think, so was the customer she was helping. I turned to my friend and said "let's go" and we walked out. I couldn't believe the way she treated us. Outside my friend said when we first walked in to the store the owner looked her up and down like she was scum. Apparently we didn't fit the typical rich Minocqua tourist look because my friend was dressed down wearing a sweatshirt and casual pants. So instead we went next door to "Found" which is an amazing store that I've never been to. Really nice owner who was so patient and kind. We spent probably two hours there and a couple hundred dollars. So, to the owner of Gem Trader...don't judge a book by its cover. My friend and I have spent a-lot of money in Minocqua and will continue to do so but not ever again at your store. You are probably the rudest person I've ever come across at a store. I made sure to tell my father about my experience so he doesn't spend any more money at your store and he's spent a lot there over the years.
