Shots are never fun, but there is always a bowl full of lollipops at the end of our visit. My husband and I have never waited more than a few minutes for our appointment before we are called into the doctor's office. I really like how the office separates the sick patients from the well patients. The well patients waiting room eased our stress as first time parents since we had to visit for all of the newborn immunizations during cold and flu season. If I had any complaints it would be that the parking spaces are a bit tight, but that is expected in South Tampa.

We went for the initial appointment and were told she needed to continue to wear the sling from the hospital and to follow up in six weeks. At the follow-up appointment we paid our insurance co-pay and saw the physician. In the appointment she didn't touch my daughter and we were told to continue wearing the sling and that no further follow up was needed. We thought everything was finished until we received a bill from Baycare for $495.99. This was for a charge they billed as "treatment of a clavicle fracture" in addition to the follow-up visit charge. This was not covered by my insurance and was billed towards my deductible. I have argued with BayCare over this for almost a year and they are now sending me to collections. They never touched my daughter at the followup appointment and she was already wearing a sling from the hospital, therefore, they did nothing to "treat" the fracture and it was just a regular follow-up appointment. The office is stating that because she was "told to wear a sling" it is the treatment of the fracture and qualifies for additional payment. This is wrong and while may be technically legal is an insurance loophole they are trying to take advantage of that is now severely affecting me. I am being falsely billed for this and feel that it is fraudulent. I am being charged almost $500 for words "continue to wear the sling". I can't understand how working class Americans are being abused like this. If I didn't have insurance and self paid for this appointment it would have cost me $150 out of pocket. Because I have insurance I am being falsely billed for words "continue to wear a sling" in the amount of $495.00. This is an incredible abuse of power and most definitely insurance fraud.

The office set up is super cute and bright my kids enjoyed it they were also playing Cocomelon on the tv which my toddler LOVED and I appreciated as well! Judy greeted us in a very friendly and welcoming manner. She was also super sweet and friendly over the phone when I called to schedule our appointment. She was so patient with my highly active one year old and played with her as I shuffled all my things along with a newborn. She was such a big help and I'll never forget that. I felt relieved not feeling judged or rushed while I was there and this was all before even meeting the doctor! Dr Rivera is amazing as well. My babies responded to him so well. He is very knowledgeable and sweet, friendly, not intimidating and judgy which is everything I was looking for in a new pediatrician! In addition to medical services they have access to a lot of useful resources that parents of young children could use. It feels like family every visit and I'm forever grateful for them being my babies' medical provider! If I could give them more stars I would because 5 doesn't seem enough!

Extremely disappointed in how this practice has changed over the years…read more We have been patients of this practice since my oldest daughter was born. She is now four, and my younger son has also been a patient since birth. We stayed with this practice for years because we genuinely believed in what Dr. Rivera said he wanted his practice to be: quality over quantity and a place where patients and families mattered. Unfortunately, our experience over the years has become completely different. There have been ongoing issues with the office staff being rude and dismissive toward me as a parent. One of the issues that initially caused frustration was that the office repeatedly got my son's gender incorrect. When I corrected the information, instead of simply acknowledging and correcting the mistake, I was met with an attitude from the staff. Mistakes happen, but the way a parent is treated when bringing a mistake to the office's attention matters. We have also had ongoing difficulties with insurance issues and scheduling. Rather than feeling like the office is trying to help families navigate these things, we have repeatedly felt like we were an inconvenience. The situation that ultimately resulted in our children being dismissed from the practice was especially frustrating. I completed all of the required paperwork for my daughter's appointment. Instead of someone from the office calling or emailing me to explain that there was an issue with her primary care provider information and giving me an opportunity to correct it, I received a random text message stating that they could not see her because the information was incorrect. I responded and explained that this could have easily been resolved if someone had simply contacted me and asked me to correct the information. I received no response. The following day, my husband called the office and was told that because of my "attitude," they no longer wanted to see either of our children. Think about that for a moment. My daughter had been a patient there since she was a newborn and is now four years old. My son has been a patient since birth and is now almost two. After years of bringing our children to this practice, both children were dismissed because the office did not like how I addressed a problem that could have been resolved with a simple phone call or email. What is even more disappointing is that we previously had respect for Dr. Rivera and his vision for the practice. He often spoke about wanting to be different and prioritizing quality over quantity. Unfortunately, our experience has been that the quality of the overall patient experience has gone significantly downhill as the years have gone on. When patients repeatedly raise concerns about the office staff, it is incredibly disappointing when those concerns do not seem to be taken seriously. Now, even obtaining our children's medical records has become unnecessarily difficult. I requested the complete records for both of my children. Rather than providing a complete electronic copy of each child's records, I was told that I could individually download years' worth of documents from the patient portal myself. For a family that has been patients for four years, that can mean an enormous number of individual documents to download. The biggest issue for me is not that mistakes happen. It is the lack of communication, professionalism, and willingness to work with parents to resolve problems. We trusted this practice with our children for years. It is extremely disappointing to go from feeling like valued patients to feeling like our family is simply unwanted because we spoke up about problems we were experiencing. I would strongly encourage parents considering this practice to pay attention not only to the doctors, but also to how the office staff communicates with and treats families. The experience we had is very different from the practice we originally chose years ago.

Every child that went in was heard screaming and/or crying. The woman at the front desk when i walked in was not welcoming at all and never told me where to go or what to expect. After my kids and i were asked into a room, we spoke with a woman (who i assume was a nurse) and she was very cold shoulder/rude to us. My baby was uneasy and unhappy the entire time this woman was in the room with us. After going in and out of the room a couple times and leaving the door open, the nurse left and came back in with a tray of stuff. I was nursing my baby at the time, she said to stay just like that and acted as though she was going to do something to her, but had not explained anything to me. When i asked her what she was doing she told me. I declined the service. She cut me off and explained in detail very impatiently what she wanted to do. Again I said no, im not doing that today. She curtly replied "ok.", grabbed her tray of stuff and abruptly left room slamming the door shut on her way out. The next thing i know, the office manager comes in and starts telling me that Dr. Canody is going to meet with me and not Dr. Barry, because according to my intake forms im not going to be participating in vaccinations for my kids, and Dr. Barry doesnt see patients who dont do regular vax schedules. I explain to her that i dont know what shes talking about. The reason im there is to get shots for my baby, and that i was referred to Dr Barry because she was supposedly so great. And I was hoping to speak with the doctor to explain my situation, so that we could work out a good schedule together. Anyway, after the office manager left, I eventually spoke with Dr. Canody. She actually told me that the reason her nurse acted the way she did was because they get 'burned' by families all the time who promise to come back but dont. After i requested a different nurse, a new nurse came in to do the shots. They had me lay my baby down on the table and lay my arm across her body and hold her arms down while she gave her the shots. Then when we checked out, the nurse I specifically requested to avoid, was sitting behind the office manager glaring at me. I have NEVER been treated or disrespected so much by a DOCTOR'S OFFICE?!! I DO NOT recommend this practice. Ive been to 3 different states with my children and Canody pediatrics was the WORST experience Ive ever had. As to their reply: No, Their practice is not meant for everyone. As someone who has moved to several states in a short amount of time and fallen behind in some areas, I was shocked at the level of judgement. Some parents due to their situation fall behind in the vax schedule and it has nothing to do with anything else, but they never even asked or cared. They judged me from the first second I entered their waiting room. I love that you try to act as though you care about me and my family online in your reply, but we both know how you really treat patients. Best of luck to you too.

Dr Kargas asked how breastfeeding was going and when I had no complaints he responded with how durable my nipples must be... I told him (as almost every mother does) that the newborn has was an issue and I wanted to be sure I was doing everything possible to offer comfort for my baby. He told me I should stop drinking carbonated beverages, not to eat onions as well as a long list of food (most being produce) or anything That may cause gas in me as that will indeed give baby gas. After a tiny amount of research I was able to find that these are not proven ways to diagnose a n allergy or pass gas to baby via breast milk. We changed pediatricians and without even explaining this experience their first response was to test baby's poop overs period of several visits before ordering momma drastic diet change. Outdated medical views and pushy views unless you speak to PA.
