We cannot say enough good things about Hatboro Pediatrics!…read moreEvery staff member there is amazing, although we are partial to Dr. Coren and Rosa. We have been taking my now 11 month old there since he was born. When we took him home from the hospital he was dehydrated (orange in his urine) from not getting enough milk (my breastmilk wasn't in yet) and I called the Hatboro Pediatrics emergency number up crying (first time mom here) and Dr. Amoia immediately calmed me down and told me what to do. AND she called to check on him the next day. So great. Since then we've been there countless times for well check and sick visits. They listen to all your concerns and check the child thoroughly. You can also call the office with any questions you have. I have called many times since I'm a worrier. We had to take my son to the ER for dehydration from the flu and they called the next day to check on how he was doing. We had to take him to the pediatric urgent care another time when he was sick and again they called the next day and wanted to see him. I love this practice. I feel comfortable with my son in their care and know they know what they're doing. I recommend them to everyone, in fact a few of our friends and family recommended them to us. I honestly give side eye to anyone who takes their child to any other doctor.

I went in person with my daughter's records and they said they would not see her due to her age. She is 16 soon to be 17. They basically told me she is too old and they didn't want her as a patient. Yet she is too young to go to our family practice doctor. She is still a minor. Very disappointing! Maybe they should start saying they are accepting new patients under the age of 16!

There is pressure to consolidate practices because the day of the successful solo practitioner is far behind us for the most part. I have observed my son's pediatrician go from a small office with two other doctors, through expansion to many doctors and nurse practitioners and administrative staff large enough to manage the burgeoning computer requirements for medical records preservation and billing. As in most offices, the back office people are far more numerous than those treating patients. There was reason for concern that somewhere along the line the human touch would be lost to the demands of the modern business of medicine. Luckily for us, Dr. Brister, partners and associates have not lost their humanity, despite succumbing to the need to become part of a larger organization in order to survive and grow. Now known as part of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Care Network, they are associated with a fine institution known for its care of children throughout the Philadelphia region and beyond. "CHOP" as it is lovingly called, has a well earned reputation for world class medical care for young people. My seventeen year old son has been under the care of Drs. Brister, Kardos and their well selected partners/associates, and he has never had anything but excellent attention from the entire team. His thriving health and energy is at least in part due to the wonderful care received when needed (which blessedly has not been often). Knowing that they are part of the CHOP system gives great cause for even more confidence.

However we've always had positive experiences and are really grateful to be apart of the CHOP network since my son has needed allergy specialists his whole life. Whenever we go to CHOP allergy there is no "catching up," because everything is already in their portal. Our doctors and nurses have been incredibly nice as well. We haven't had a bad experience here. Their nursing line has also been helpful for us. I know not everyone has the same experience but we luckily have had great experiences for my son and daughter.

The visit was combative and condescending as soon as I introduced myself as an advocate. I explained the complexities of a shared child and his quality of life. This was not discussed and initially the question from the Dr was - what are we here for? Not friendly, not helpful and not respectful to parent advocates or families with children who have special needs. Dr. M gave suggestions to different CHOP departments; one only serviced children 3 and below and the other 6 and above. This is not applicable to the child and no other suggestions were given. We were also told that CHOP pediatrics only takes children with ADHD, which was referred to as neurological by the Dr. When I tried to learn about the medical term she used and asked, the answer was snarky and said with a condescending laugh. Audibly, as she was wearing a mask. Because thats beyond disrespectful, rude and unprofessional, I let her know "that was rude". I was then thrown out of the doctors office and told unprofessional behavior will not be tolerated and is inappropriate for a medical building. Unprofessional is laughing at serious questions being posed, condescending answers and overall disrespect towards me (the parent advocate), but the family as well, no? This same type of incident happened with Dr. Heinert. The translation on the iPad glitched throughout, no answers were explained to Mom or his teacher, and they were told everything was behavioral. When questions cannot be answered, the go-to has consistently been, "that is behavioral". These doctors are visibly uncomfortable around special needs children. Dr. M didnt assess the child once. No ears, no throat, nothing. Its been so upsetting and frustrating. If youre not comfortable with special needs kids, you're SURE ok with billing for it. Do better CHOP. The civil rights violations have been piling up, which is so sad for a family that us struggling and in desperate need of medical help.
