My daughter received a diagnosis of falling on the autism spectrum at the age of 3 at the Marcus Center for Autism. We were told she desperately need speech therapy to both help with her speech and with her social communications. Her first test revealed a need to attend two speech sessions a week, so she started at PediaSpeech seeing both Kayla and Carla. By the time she started Kindergarten and entered into eligibility to receive speech therapy at school, she had reached a normal (for her age) range on her speech evaluation. We are only one month into Kindergarten, but her speech therapist says she sees no need for my daughter to continue speech. In fact, IsaBeall is BORED in speech, b/c it's too easy!!! I am so thankful for the quality services and care that my daughter received at PediaSpeech. While we don't miss the long drive (commuted all the way up from East Point to access the amazing services of PediaSpeech) we do miss the people of PediaSpeech. It truly becomes a little family. We began working with Pediaspeech in 2009, when our daughter stopped talking at 15 months. Our daughter was diagnosed with autism, and this has been the most difficult challenge in our lives. The owner, Jennifer - was not only a great therapist for my daughter, but she was also very caring and supportive to me as a mother. We have worked with Pediaspeech for nearly 3 years, and we have seen Beth for most of those 3 years. She has been sweet, patient and kind. I can not say enough about the Occupational Therapist, Kris Osher at Pediaspeech. He is a person with great integrity and a talented, insightful therapist. He gave me advice and was available beyond the scope of what he was paid for; and that advice came from a place of true compassion for my son. We saw Kris in 2014 and he suggested several activities I could do with my son over the summer. I implemented every one and saw dramatic improvement in his development. Kris also took the time to explain things to me in a way that allowed me to grasp my sons situation in a way no one ever had before. Pedia Speech has truly been a God send for our son and family. Carly is my son's speech and feeding therapist. She is an absolute angel. It's been over 2 years now, that he has been going. He is 6 years old and has moderate Autism. He is now speaking sentences he has learned and has created on his own. He can understand questions, answer them and ask some of his own. He speaks clearly and understands information better. He sits still in his chair, enjoys learn play and feeding, in every session. He takes direction well from her, at home and at school. He can comfortably, properly chew and swallow table foods now, self feed and have full meals with a drink out of a cup. Finding PS was the best thing, that ever happened to our son. He is independent now and confident in SO MANY WAYS!!!! They gave my son a new chance at life, a new way of life. Our family is SO MUCH BETTER, now that he has received the blessings that have come out of Pedia Speech. He is definitely a different child now. Because when he started at PS, his vocabulary was limited. He spoke very little, he was resistant, he was less confident, he was unable to do the lessons there, he would be so upset coming and crying during the sessions. He was still on the bottle and could only tolerate baby food. He would have texture issues with his practice foods and drinks. He would gag, feel apprehensive about it all and just be completely uncomfortable. Despite all of PS efforts to make the children, parents, environment and sessions completely comfortable. But the truth is our kids do not want to come and do the work because they do not know how beneficial it is to them. WE KNOW it will improve and change their lives forever! But US as the parents MUST dedicate our consistency to our children, in these ways, so that they can have a BETTER LIFE!!!
