State Representative Candidate Forum…read more The Bucks County Free Library system has mixed reviews from library users, but last night they did the community a solid by providing a meeting room for the League of Women Voters State Representative Candidates Forum. More chairs and a larger room would have been helpful, but the organization cannot be blamed for the substantial turnout to hear the two gentlemen answer questions submitted by the audience. This is the way democracy is supposed to work. If someone wants your vote and thinks they have the qualities needed to make an exceptional public servant, they must stand before us and let us see them with all their strengths and weaknesses. Transparency in past experience and future policy positions are essential to intelligent decisions by the electorate. What was most remarkable was how similar their answers were to most questions. They both seemed so amenable to listening to each other, and working together whenever possible. Oh, that this was really so! Yet, this was all somewhat less than honest due to what was not addressed at all. Each party they represent operates collectively. The track record of the party in majority or minority is just as important as what an individual candidate believes. After all, politicians don't work in a vacuum. They take their positions according to what their leadership dictates. The influence of a rookie representative (both would be new), is less than minimal, especially if plum committee assignments, reelection and promotion are desired. Unfortunately, they were not questioned about the position of their party on the important issues, nor how they would deal with disagreements they had with leadership. Without that information, it was too easy to say whatever they believed, without any grounding in reality. Opportunity lost. Still, in my view, one was clearly superior to the other in terms of intelligence, thoughtfulness, compassion and experience. I know who has my vote.

They are extremely helpful and always kind. The library has improved greatly over the years and I find it to be very organized compared to other library's I've visited. The sections are clearly marked and they have a huge selection of books, movies, video games, and other typical library items (including cake pans)! Unlike the other reviewers, I have never found the noise to be a disruption to my reading or studying.

I tried to cancel a driving session due to being sick the previous day and because I didn't cancel 24 hours in advance they said I would still be charged. Mind you after that was explained I was more than happy to pay for the missed session seeing as that was my own mistake but when I called the office to clarify, the woman that picked up the phone was abrasive and rude. I want to highlight the extraordinary care, dedication, and professionalism demonstrated by the ownership, staff, and administration at Lightbridge Academy. These individuals consistently go above and beyond to ensure the safety, well-being, and development of every child. In our case, they collaborated with external experts, including my son's grandmother (a DCF supervisor) and a regional manager from Children's Specialized Hospital, to address the emotional challenges my son was experiencing. This collaborative effort underscores their commitment to the holistic care of children. Unfortunately, the only opposition to these efforts came from Lauren P. and Patty P., who were unwilling to cooperate for the betterment of my child. It is disingenuous for them to cast blame on an organization that showed such willingness to help, especially when they themselves refused to support a united approach. For instance, they've alleged that Lightbridge Academy violated state protocols by keeping my son in a room for two hours, yet they omit a critical detail: they specifically instructed the staff not to contact his father during an outburst--even though he was just eight minutes away. Lightbridge Academy was following their directive, so any blame for this situation rests with them, not the facility. It is both shocking and disappointing that these baseless accusations are being leveled against a daycare that has shown nothing but compassion and professionalism. We maintain thorough records and evidence to refute these claims. Lightbridge Academy did everything possible to navigate complex challenges, including instances of parental alienation, manipulation, and misinformation, all while prioritizing the best interests of my son. For three weeks, my son experienced emotional outbursts, often immediately following drop-offs by his mother. The staff consistently went out of their way to support him, employing strategies like emotional redirection, personalized activities, and special accommodations to help him adjust. This level of care has been a hallmark of Lightbridge Academy throughout my son's time there--from when he was just four months old until November 2024. As someone with insight into daycare standards (thanks to my mother's role with DCF), I can confidently say Lightbridge Academy is exemplary. It is deeply unfair to see this business--one that treats every child as if they were their own--be maligned for issues rooted in parenting challenges, not institutional failings.
