I went into Mr. Dobler's office in March of 2022 to meet him and show him my previous years tax return. He seemed nice enough. I made an appointment and he told me the fee would be around 300.00. During the appointment I asked for several copies of of my information (I did not want to leave the only copies I had there). when I asked for a copy of my brokerage account statement from charles schwab he actually slammed his hand down on the desk, grabbed the statement and walked out of the office. I was shocked and should have canceled the appointment right there. When he came back into the office he told me he didn't have time to make anymore copies and to leave everything with him. I asked him when he would be finished with my return and he told me about two weeks. Ridiculous, I used the same accountant for 25 years before going to Mr. Dobler and it never took longer than 3 to 5 days. In fact, one year my previous accountant did my taxes in front of me and it took him about 30 minutes. After two weeks I didn't hear anything so I called Mr. Dobler and told him I needed some of my paperwork because I was trying to get a loan for a rental. He told me to come in around 2.30 pm and he would have my return done. Honestly, I don't think he had even started on it. When I arrived I found out he was charging me 441.00 When he told me at our first meeting the charge would be around 300.00.
