I was made to feel like I was doing things wrong or was a complete bother multiple times. The lack of professionalism was really jarring and made me so uncomfortable, I don't know what flip switched, but I will be taking my business elsewhere. I've always kept an incredibly detailed and organized list of expenses on Google sheets and share it with Sandra, along with necessary paperwork. Time after time, Sandra would compliment me on my organization and would give me small requests to make the documents easier for her. Last year, she told me that, since my PM's (property manager) already shares an expense/income sheet, that I didn't need to "double count it" on my Google sheets form. So, I didn't. Then this year, she texts me the night before my appointment frantic about my paperwork, telling me she has to charge me something like a few hundred an hour to be a bookkeeper, etc. Mind you, all at 9-10pm the night before my appointment, when I had sent out these forms a few days in advance. After going to her for many years, I thought I was doing things "right" as I had the last few, but suddenly nothing was right. I chalked it up to the stresses of her divorce and tax season, so I let the experience be and convinced myself she was having a bad day or something. Then, a few weeks ago, I realized I never got a copy of my completed taxes. So I simply just emailed her and asked, whenever she was free, to send me a copy. She replied she would send them over soon. A few days go by and I follow up with her...and she replies, very unprofessional with "HERE YOU GO" in all caps. Now, mind you, in the past she's also informed me that if I don't ask for an e-copy of my taxes within the same month ish/time frame as doing my taxes, she'll charge me for sending me my paperwork. That's because when I was going through a mortgage process, I reached out to see if she could help send me copies of my old tax forms, and she told me that if I ask outside of the direct tax window filing period that she charges for that request. Charging to get a copy of your own tax paperwork is kinda wild, but whatever, so that's why I've been diligent about getting an e-copy of my taxes from her every year since learning that. Why it's not auto-sent to people to have copies who needs them, IDK, but the constant nickel and dime threats is so exhausting.

Before I had my appointment, Ashley (office manager) contacted me and sent me a general questionnaire to fill out ahead of time. She also asked me to email copies of my prior year's tax return as well as any relevant tax documents. This would allow Peggy to have prior knowledge of my finances before I drove all the way to Stockton. When I arrived for my appointment, Ashley greeted me and offered me a drink and I sat down in the waiting area. I only waited for a few minutes and then went back to the office to meet Peggy. The first thing I noticed was that she was well-prepared with all my documents and knew what questions to ask. She told me facts about taxes that I did not know, so that was super helpful. I had numbers run through TurboTax and was going to owe a significant amount of Federal and State taxes. After Peggy used her tax knowledge to work her magic, she ended up saving me over $1000! I am very thankful for Peggy and her expertise. Ashley was super helpful and organized. I will definitely be returning next year to have my taxes run by Peggy again.

I see your reply which not correct. I call and formally addressed some serious concerns regarding the preparation of my recent tax return. I noticed after the fact that certain charitable contributions and other expenses were included in my return that I did not authorize or provide any documentation for. These inaccuracies are not only incorrect but could also pose compliance risks. Additionally, the time claimed to have been spent on the return does not align with the nature of the communication and the information I actually submitted. I attempted to discuss this with you previously, but unfortunately, I felt that my concerns were dismissed without being properly addressed. I had to have another tax professional thoroughly review and correct my return immediately to reflect only the information I personally provided. I request a refund of the additional cost to amend my tax return which is appropriate in is this matter. She charged us $10,000 upfront plus $3,500 for a corporate tax return, yet after more than a year, neither the bookkeeping nor the tax return was completed. Despite repeated communication and allowing her ample time, she refused to issue a refund. On the morning of our scheduled appointment, she abruptly emailed to cancel and stated she would no longer continue working with us -- this was after I had specifically confirmed whether she was confident in meeting the tax extension deadline.
