I filled out the form I was given and he said that today he will be taking X-rays, cleaning and polishing my teeth which I felt was odd because usually they'll take the X-rays and chart your mouth then talk about the next steps. He walked me back to the actual dental room, and I was a bit taken aback by the look of it. Posters hanging sideway on the walls by one tack, various carts with disheveled medical stuff on it gauze, syringes, dental tools and it was dirty. Noticeable dirty. My anxiety was skyrocketing fast. He had this black T shaped thing he stuck in my mouth for the X-rays then when done just tossed it by the cord over one of the arms of the dental tray stand. I just hope it was removed from a sterile package, because not all of the instruments were. When he went to get instruments it sounded like he was digging through a silverware drawer. He never showed or looked at my X-rays, but began cleaning my teeth with what felt like a dremel. And he wasn't gentle either. So, after his hands had been in my mouth, he starts typing on his laptop, then his cellphone rings which he picks up to check what it is, then puts his damn fingers back in my mouth!!! I was mortified!! All in all I felt like I was in some sketchy out of country dental shop.

Dr. Bishko comes off as a bit eccentric, but not in a bad way, she just likes to chat a lot about random topics. Although the office was busy she gave me her full attention and discussed the options for fixing my problem teeth in detail, considering both health and financial cost. Followup appointments were available reasonably soon, and the receptionist was very personable and showed concern for whether my teeth were okay and if I would need an earlier appointment. Everybody seems happy and relaxed, like they enjoy working here. The atmosphere is so nice that it made going to the dentist almost fun. Weird, huh?

They also have a great sense of humor...My dentist is Dr. Burns and I love her to the moon and back. While being kind and caring is very important, they also provide top notch services. For the most part he agreed with the first opinion but he spent a lot more time with me than the original dentist. I would go to River Station if they were considered in network by my insurer even though they are about an hour from where I live and I have since recommended them to others.
