Located in the wilderness of the southside of Houston in the bayou next to the Beltway 8, close to where 45 South meets Belt 8, you will find this Mobil station. It's a handy spot, which often has cheaper gas than most gas along this stretch of Beltway, and indeed within a few miles of this locale. So we tend to stop here for gas on a fairly regular basis. Checkpoint is a reliable gas station with cheap gas, and they also have a pretty tasty Church's Chicken location inside here. It's new and big and clean and always has plenty of pumps available, which is great. They have a convenience store and they even sell pretty good tacos inside here. So it's more like a four star gas station, honestly. I'd give the Church's a 3 or 4, same for the convenience store and the pumps, but I especially like the tacos that they have in here, although I can't be sure they're still here but I'll keep you posted.

JR's Express while on my way to the Hobby Airport Rental Center…read more I rarely take the fuel option at National Rental Car being the cost to fuel is not a real bargain unless you bring the car back empty since the option requires buying a full tank. This station appears to be well maintained and more competitive that stations closer to Hobby. If there are any negatives in regards to fueling here while traveling to the airport it's the entrance which is on the opposite side of the boulevard and a U-turn is required to access it and exiting requires you to transverse a normally busy two lane road. I didn't interact with any of the employees here but it was a pretty busy place during my visit so it seems they have a loyal clientele...
