Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital your inconsistencies of treatment are inexcusable. When a patient…read moreis admitted for the second time in a week with severe pain from a kidney infection (pylonephritis) that isn't responding to antibiotics, and even the ER physicians recognize the severe pain and give adequate pain relief, you don't have attendings who ignore imperical evidence of appropriate treatment for the patient's pain. You don't have attendings who don't understand the difference between a lower urinary tract infection and a kidney infection. You don't treat a patient with severe upper abdominal pain and a history of not just organ-involved lupus, but lupus nephritis, and that pain feels like you're being stabbed with a sword repeatedly with pyridium, especially when that patient was already taking pyridium at home and pyridium is known to only help with pain when urinating, which isn't even the pain I'm concerned with. Dr. Gong is the only doctor who has ever treated me compassionately and saw me as a whole patient and considered all of my health issues (which is quite complicated) when deciding on a course of action. He also considered the fact I have a gene defect where I metabolize pain medicine too rapidly. He has always given me adequate pain control, never treated me as a drug seeking patient, and I've never left his care needing to go home on the stronger meds he provided. He provided what was needed to keep me comfortable and recover. Currently, Dr. Chan is assigned to my case. He's never treated me with dignity or considered my whole picture or the fact that I have a high tolerance to meds due to meds I'm already on. He doesn't ever give it frequently enough (for instance last time he treated me he gave a med that metabolizes out of the body within two hours and only allowed it every six hours). It's like a sick joke. Your body is constantly on a roller coaster of mild pain relief to then pain that gets out of control and goes unchecked for hours and then it's harder to get back under control. I don't feel I'm treated with care or dignity. I am in so much pain it hurts when I breathe. And now I'm not even getting any pain relief. Your nurses and techs are pretty top notch with a few rare exceptions.

A little over month ago a family member was in the throes of withdrawal and in need of inpatient…read moretreatment. We were terrified and time was of the essence ... I called NIRC on a Sunday morning just before we were driving our family member to the hospital for detox. A kind gentleman named Dominic answered the phone and gave us a plan for the immediate future. This was not the only facility we called but it was the only one that stayed in touch as we negotiated the hospital stay and where to go from there. Three weeks later our family member was released with a firm plan for sobriety and tools to use for attaining that goal as he moves back to Chicago. Those of you who have been through situations like this know it is difficult ... to have him safe and HEARD during his stay gave us all time to recover and plan for the future. I will be forever grateful for the care and kindness he received at NIRC. Brilliant work! Sincerely, Kathleen Fischer

It has taken me one year to write this review, which has allowed me to reflect on the journey we've…read morebeen on these last 365 days. Our family was at a crossroad and my husband was struggling to find his way back to us. That is until he found NIRC. I am forever grateful he found your program and walked through your doors. He entered broken and came out stronger. You gave him back his clarity and set him down a path with guidance, compassion and the tools that he needed to succeed. Pastor Bill Orris was his beacon and helped lead him through the fog. I am forever grateful that he found your program and ultimately found himself again along the way. He has now been sober one year and counting. There are no words to express the gratitude I have for your program and the impact it has had on our family. I honestly think we would be on a much different path had he not found NIRC and I hope that our story can give hope to others that are navigating through the darkness that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you NIRC and all of the staff that brough my husband back, not only to me, but to our family. We've made so many amazing memories with him this past year and he is able to look back, remember and reflect on everything that we've done together. His life is no longer a fog, it's now vivid and clear with purpose and filled with endless love.

I'm not exaggerating when I say Cherne Chiropractic has changed my life for the better. I have had…read moreback pain since my mid-twenties, and I've been to at least 6 different chiropractors over the years. I never really improved until I started coming to Dr. Cherne. Since I've been coming to Dr. Cherne regularly for a year, I've been able to resume exercise and have lost over 40 pounds. Cherne's techniques include traction, exercises, adjustment, and ice packs. It is true that sometimes Dr. Cherne seems busy to the point of being disorganized, but he genuinely cares about the health of his patients and he will work hard to help you get better. If you have back or neck pain, go ahead and give Cherne Chiropractic a try. You have nothing to lose since the evaluation is free, and a world of improvement is possible!

Scarily incompetent "doctor". He looked me in the eye and said "I'm not here to get you out of…read morepain." I said, "I called this morning with severe pain, I wish your staff would have told me that over the phone." He said he was going to train them and thanked me. I saw their pain specialist, Marta, a vacant witch, who laughed at my responses and acted as though I was bothering her. Oshe offered me muscle injections when I do not need them. I was given a free back brace to shut me up since they all knew I figured out the scam they are running there. The first time I felt relief was in putting the back brace on. I was told it was extremely expensive to make me feel special I guess. Doctor told me he didn't have time for an adjustment but I watched him chase his barefoot toddler around and take his dog for a walk. An assistant told me he was "practically a neurologist" but was clueless as to the actual nerve disorder that I was telling him about which was treated by an ACTUAL neurologist. Save your time and energy and do not go here. Doctor's wife who also practices I believe was the only person who acknowledged my pain and didn't treat me like an idiot trying to pull a veil over my eyes and have me sign up for long term terrible treatment by incompetent fake professionals. She is being duped by a terrible man. Scary. If you hurt your back do NOT go here. Also they ask $1 for water. Classy!
