Very accommodating staff and also very friendly. Good value for the price. Would play there again.

Fairways and greens are usually in good shape, and you can tell the staff takes pride in upkeep. BUT IT IS WAY TOO CROWDED. I live here and play this course all the time, and there has not been a single round where I haven't had to wait on a group. The pace of play is consistently slow, and it honestly takes away from what could be a great experience. There have even been times where I've been told to go after a foursome, so I wait like I'm supposed to--then somehow a random one- or two-person group jumps in and goes ahead, even though they weren't on the schedule according to the pro shop. That kind of disorganization makes it really frustrating. The scheduling, the wait times, and the constant backups on the course are just awful right now. Something has to change. At a minimum, they need to space tee times out more--especially on busy days. Every 30 minutes would go a long way toward fixing the pace of play issues. Honestly, I think they should seriously consider making this a private course and directing public play over to the Pearl course instead. As someone who plays here regularly, it's gotten to the point where the overcrowding is the main thing people talk about, and it's hurting the overall experience. There's a really good course here--it's just buried under poor scheduling and way too much traffic.

Extremely overpriced for the condition this course is in. Actually lost balls because of how high…read morethe grass was. There's absolutely no effort into the landscaping. Dead grass on tea box's. Highly doubt they will change anything but go ahead and spend the extra 10 bucks and go play at The Refuge.

We seen this place last year across from our hotel. It was lit up with all kind of neon rope lights…read moreand looked pretty groovy. Our friends and I with all of our kids take a yearly trip to Pearl before school starts to watch the Braves. We decided after the game this year ....we were going. Well....we won't be going back. First off - there was one employee. Not a problem. He was super nice and what I'm about to tell you probably isn't his fault. We had 6 of us and our friends had their 4. We got to the window, paid and got our gear. Our friends went to the window and they had one ball left. The employee told us there weren't any more balls because people lose them and our friends would have to wait until someone else was done and turned theirs in. First off. I get that the golf balls get lost. It happens. Second the owner should buy some more. Keep some extra. Charge $5 for balls not returned. I bet people would be a little more careful. I also get - things happen, BUT it's a business. The parking lot wasn't even full. Maybe 4 cars. So we had to wait roughly 10 minutes. There's a yellow line that goes directly from window to the putt putt holes ....where we thought was the beginning.....nope. It wasn't even close. We had to basically go on the other side. You didn't get a paper or pencil to write anything down with. Again... no big deal, but it would have been nice. Yellow lines were misleading to the par you shouldn't have started at. Most of the pars didn't have signs to read so you really had not a clue. Nothing worked. Not a water fall. Most of the big lights were out so you couldn't see at a few of the pars. Some of the things were pretty dangerous also. There were holes in the concrete were there were poles that they took out and didn't fill the holes in. Someone's foot could have gotten broken or stuck. Carpet was coming up on pars. Wires were everywhere you looked. Also - the drill stem just sticking up in places that someone could trip over or fall on and easily seriously hurt themselves! This really could be a super nice putt putt if it was well kept. For the money we paid ...it should be better. I can promise you this - we will most def NOT be back.

My two-star rating for the Sanderson Farms Championship is relative to other tournaments on the PGA…read moreTour schedule. If The Masters and other majors are five-star events then I can only consider a lower-tier event like this one two stars. This tournament has been around for a long time, since 1968, but it didn't become an official PGA Tour event until 1994. Since that time, this has traditionally been a fall event. Most recently, the tournament was played in September 2019, the second event of the 2019-20 season. It was won by Colombian Sebastian Munoz who beat Korean Sungjae Im. Munoz birdied the 72nd hole to force a playoff. On the first and only playoff hole, Im hit his drive near the grandstands, allowing Munoz to get up and down for par and earn his first PGA Tour win. The Sanderson Farms Championship was many times an "alternate" event, meaning it was played opposite a major championship, a WGC event, a team event like the Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup, etc. Therefore, golf's best players typically haven't played here. However, that might change because starting last year (2019), the PGA Tour elevated this tournament's status. It's now a standalone tournament with full benefits such as FedEx Cup points and an invitation to the Masters for the winner. The latest purse was $6.6 million, a significant increase from the previous year, but still towards the bottom of non-alternate Tour events. Some of the bigger names to win this event include Cameron Champ (2018-19 season), Bill Haas (2010), Luke Donald (2002), Payne Stewart (1982), and Craig Stadler (1978). Since 2014, the tournament has been played at the Country Club of Jackson on CCJ's Dogwood and Azalea nines, redesigned in 2008-09: https://www.yelp.com/biz/country-club-of-jackson-jackson-2. Since becoming an official Tour stop, the tournament has been known as the Deposit Guaranty Golf Classic (1994-98), the Southern Farm Bureau Classic (1999-2006), the Viking Classic (2007-11), and the True South Classic (2012). Fortune 1000 chicken company Sanderson Farms has been the title sponsor since 2013. The tournament's trophy is a rooster which is both funny and cool. Money raised from the Sanderson Farms Championship goes to the Batson's Children's Hospital in Jackson: https://www.yelp.com/biz/batson-childrens-hospital-jackson.
