Now you do get used to some things, like the noises of the cars on the road and lack of shelf space, but it's a nice place for a single guy like me to call home. Pool is nice and laundry room is decent. Free parking and the area is well maintained. For a city like Altus, this is living the high life.

When I moved in, one of the guys from work killed about 13 of them in different places of the apartment because I was so freaked out. For some reason, I did not know for the first two months that my hot water heater was set to a temperature of 100, so I ended up taking lukewarm showers during that period. Maintenance did not even tell me that was the issue--I ended up doing a Youtube video and figured out how to take the panel off to see if that was the culprit. Sure enough! It fixed my issue. The management here is pretty non-existent. There is always bird poop on my patio and it's so gross that I just don't open it. Each summer, there are TONS of spiders inside the apartment! They spray but up until a few months ago, the outside walls were covered in webs that had been there since I moved in. It was like there was no pride taken to keep the apartment community clean and stop the infestation of bugs. There are cracks in the walls and the insulation is absolutely terrible! I had to put up thermal curtains to help alleviate some of it but it the summer it is super hot! If you run the A/C your bill will be over $200 for electric in a 1 bedroom and I am gone once a week each month for work. The wind knocks something around on the outside of the apartment (sounds like the gutter) so it bangs on the wall 24/7 when it's windy. If you need to use the heat in the winter time...good luck! The electric bill is horrendous from that too. I think the thermostats in the apartment need to be updated since these are from the 1990s. I believe that they are not very accurate and cause the heat or A/C to run constantly, which creates a hefty electric bill. Just to be clear, if I am not home I unplug everything and turn everything off except the fridge. I close the bathroom and bedroom doors and keep the curtains shut. The apartments just aren't insulated well at all. Unfortunately, this is the best you get here in Altus for apartments. The price is more than they are worth especially with the utilities. The trash dumpsters always have raccoons hanging out by them and the residents don't care if the trash is in the dumpster or next to it. If I honestly had the choice, I would just buy a house if I had to stay here longer--or stay on base. Or commute from Lawton...at least they have better options.

I think it's a problem with most altus apartments though. One small nice convenience is being able to pay online and not having to keep going back until someone's in office to drop off rent check.

I ended up extended a couple days so the pro-rate was updated accordingly. I had a friend drop off the money at the front office because I had immediately left town and they told her they were just going go ahead and charge me for the full months rent... literally just because! The person who gave me the pro-rate didnt even deny that she gave me a pro-rated rent price for the month either, but they simply changed their minds on the spot. Fortunately, I gave my friend exact change and I told her to give them the money and to leave. Also, some of the windows had no blinds on them whatsoever and were missing locking latches to hold them down tight. Without the locking latches on the windows a strong breeze kept coming through the whole winter so my electricity bill was always high.

The way grass is cut is terrible! Always left piles in front of our doors making grass flow right into our front door. Never gets cleaned always dirty. The dryers and washers are always a guessing game on what works so money is always getting wasted.

This complex has gone downhill pretty fast and it's happened within the last 2 years. There's only one maintenance guy (her son). He is overworked and probably underpaid and over stressed. The grounds are pretty tacky looking. It's just not being taken care of properly. Even if you are the nicest person there's a 99% probability that something will happen because she ends up chasing everyone off at some point. She's the only one working in the office so it's extremely difficult to sit down with her for anything. She's unable to keep anyone there to work with her because of her mood swings. I have heard so many horror stories involving her and previous tenants. I don't understand how she still has a job there. It is possible to be a respectful yet stern property manager (if you want to call her that) without being hateful and rude but it seems like she hasn't mastered the ability to do that. So with all of that being said, I would definitely think long & hard before signing a lease here. Just know that even if you are the kindest of people and never cause problems you aren't safe from her irrational behavior.

So naturally, when I got the news that I was going to be spending almost 4 months in Altus, I quickly put in my request for a room. And let me tell you, my experience was far better than I ever imagined. Mike and Skylar are absolutely phenomenal landlords. They made the process of booking a room with them super easy. They were always quick with their responses if you had any questions and were quick to fix any problems if they came up with the house. While I was there they were making upgrades to the house and doing some small renovations to make sure we were getting the best experience possible. Not only that but they were there for any questions you had on life after Altus if you needed it as well. Crystal, the cleaning lady, comes once a week to make the place look like new. I had heard of other crash pads having issues with their cleaning lady but never with Crystal. Lastly, The Bat Cave will give you the opportunity to create friendships that you'll carry with you throughout your entire career. Didn't matter if you were a KC-135 guy or a C-17 guy, if you were at The Bat Cave you were one of the bros. Couldn't have asked for a better group of dudes then the ones I got the chance to live with while I was there. So if you're looking for a place to stay, the search stops here. The Bat Cave is the place to be.

Appliances are old, maintenance is minimal, there is no central air. and the apartment (at least the one I live in) is falling apart. These things should deter you, but remember that you get what you pay for. I am sharing a 2 bedroom with a roommate and we split $190.00 a month + utilities. I do not regret moving into this apartment because I am saving so much money by doing so. So if you are into new appliances and nice things this isn't for you, but if you can stand to lose those luxuries than this is a good place to pocket some extra money for a few months.

I moved into the Rosehaven house right before a storm hit with very little crash pad availability so I tried to make the place work despite arriving to a filthy house ( I was informed it had sat vacant for months prior to my arrival and clearly not cleaned) with a broken bed frame, light fixtures falling off of the walls, moldy dishes in the dishwasher (which was also covered in mold), a broken kitchen faucet, fake leather on the sofa and chairs chipping off, trash can roll out bracket and dishwasher detached from the cabinets, and discovered significant yellow staining on every single mattress of the 7 mattresses in the house among multiple other things. The manager is not local and I could either wait multiple days to continue sleeping on a pee covered mattress until one was shipped or go get one for the company. I went and did so to feel safe. My boyfriend fixed a ton of things as the repair man was busy for multiple days as well. I cleaned for multiple days to try to get it in a livable state while I waited 11 days to get a cleaner on the property, having to ask multiple times on updates. The cleaners finally arrived and my security camera records them rummaging through drawers to include my underwear, resulting in the police escorting them off the property. While trying to get my things moved out of the property in between sims and school events, I had not one but THREE different people enter the locked bedroom I was living in while I was out of the house without any warning or heads up from the company. 3 different tenants were offered a room at the house while I still occupied it, before the company brought cleaners out or replaced any of the other 6 mattresses ( which I would guess are still the severely stained yellow ones that MAYBE have a new cover on them) Completely despicable, unprofessional and ridiculous throughout the entire time on property. I was additionally unable to make contact with the supervisor's number that was given to me. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE.
