Never again! Peapod has gotten so careless lately. I ordered approximately $200 worth of items. I received $60 worth. Horrible, unacceptable service. I received only 25% of my order. Could possibly all these items be out of stock? 50 additional items? Their website shows stock. But they charged me in full for all the items I didn't even receive. Can I give ZERO stars? Two weeks ago, I waited up until 1AM to secure a delivery for today. A few days ago, as I was managing my shopping cart, a "Covid-19" alert popped up, and as I attempted to X that out, I accidentally cancelled my delivery. No "are you sure you want to cancel your delivery?" Just GONE. Responding to the "you cancelled your delivery" email, was not even an option as it was unmonitored. My immediately calling was a wa "A supervisor" was supposed to call me back by now. The customer care people were rude, condescending, and, dismissive. I waited up again until 1am to secure a new delivery, and today, when returning to check my order...... POOF! GONE! STOP & SHOP lost my business for good! I used to shop in the store multiple times a month. This was my first time using pea-pod and it left a sour taste in my mouth. In a time of dire need this is the worst thing to do to a person trying to prevent the spread of a pandemic. I am choosing to stay home and not go ANYWHERE! Peapod you disappoint. Made my first order on Sunday and already disappointed. They couldn't deliver my order on the day I placed it but offered to deliver the next day between 5pm-7pm. I'm flexible so I accepted and scheduled my day around that time because I ordered perishable items. At 6:45 (when I hadn't received a delivery update) I checked online and saw that they're so sorry but can't make the delivery time that they agreed to but estimated delivery at 8:30. So wish I could cancel and just drive to Giant - less work and no BS. I will not be using Peapod again. Whole Foods is more expensive but they deliver for free and and deliver exactly when promised. read more

You  had a week to confirm that you could deliver (today, 3/21/2020) the items as ordered yet you waited until Friday (3/20)  (the day before delivery) to inform me that about 1/3 of the items were not available. Further, I would guess that you knew the exact quantities of the particular products on the day I placed the order, you should have either reserved them for me or they should have been marked unavailable on the web site. Starting using them as soon as the service was available in my area a few years back. At first it was a huge timesaver. Everything I would purchase at my local StopandShop was available so my family saved hours of time each week. Delivery was prompt and well within the time frame of my appointment. However they have been slipping since then. Sending poor quality fruit and vegetables, almost expired meat and the missing items. At first the customer service was very apologetic, issuing refunds and adding coupons for the inconvenient. Now the attitude is they don't care, I guess the complaints have gotten too frequents from all the subscribers. The selection has dropped and changes randomly and for no reason. Basic things that you could get at any supermarket or even a 7/11 or gas station are out of stock. Last summer for a good month they didn't have hotdogs?!?! And I have even gotten a delivery of ground beef that was grey in the middle and red on the outside. As any butcher or cook can tell you that's impossible to have without them deliberately wrapping old ground beef in new. So the list of items we order from Peapod has gotten smaller and smaller and what we have to go to the store for has gotten bigger and bigger. Basically we only order things that can't spoil or need to be fresh. On the positive side our delivery has continued to be reliable and our regular driver is super in making sure he's on time and is helpful and friendly. But if there was something better we would use them in a heartbeat. read more

I love peapod. It's so convenient. It has been a life saver while I take care of this knee injury. It's not perfect, but after a month of ordering every week I'm satisfied. The only thing they need to be careful with is selecting the items. In my first order they sent rotini instead of rigatoni and this last order they sent two avocado instead of a hot pepper. I used Peapod last year when I was housebound an extended time. The drivers here are kind, and I received most of my items. I started using Peapod again when we needed to self-isolate. Still nice drivers but their prices have spiked, and many items are far more expensive than Whole foods. The worst thing is that it's impossible to get a time slot. I've stayed up most of the night several nights without success. Two of the nights, they never added a day, and the other two, I missed it. There was a narrow window of 8 minutes when i didn't refresh the page. Also, both orders have been missing half my items, mostly canned, frozen, and fresh fruit and vegetables, and paper products. I can understand fresh produce availability swings, but can't they said aside inventory for an order you make over two weeks in advance for the rest? Also, I won't allow substitutions anymore. They didn't do a great job at that. The billing is confusing, and I may have been overcharged. I'm great at math, but this was a large order and the online form is a muddle with all the missing items and substitutions. I gave trying to figure it out. read more

Sent me bruised apples, Turkey meat that was sliced two days before I placed my order american cheese that expired within a few days of receiving it chicken that had a use by date the day after my order was received I sent three emails and only received one response (three days after I sent it). I placed my 1st order using a $25 off $75 purchase yesterday, sat. 6/22/2019. My order confirmation email receipt had a total of $48.89 OK so I pick up my purchase and 3 items were removed, just not at all listed. Not on the substitution list nor the out of stock. Completely removed, Giant says they received the order as is although my email order confirmation lists those 3 items which totaled $6.50. It is ever so convenient that the $6.50 brought my order total to $70.40 therefore making the $25.00 off coupon no longer applicable. Fast forward, after holding for CS for half an hour I put in my number to get a call back - NOTHING. I called back on Sunday only to experience a "higher than normal wait time" of 60+ minutes , entered my number and again no call back. Sent, two emails, as of today did not receive a response. I called again today and finally spoke with someone who said there was nothing that could be done, I asked to speak to a manager, another woman picked up & said the same, nothing could be done then offered to transfer me to a manager. Since my first review I have had 6 or 7 more deliveries from Peapod. Only once has my delivery not fallen within the scheduled delivery time. I was called and informed it would be 45 minutes late. I'm not deducting a star for this since my morning was free, but this is a pain if you need to adjust your schedule because they can't adhere to the agreed upon time. Fair compensation would be to waive the delivery fee. I am deducting one star because I have ordered produce and have been disappointed more than once. Their leafy greens [kale, spinach, parsley, lettuce, (various types), and collard], always arrive with brown spots, are wilting, and in some cases are spoilt. Twice I have opened one bag of spinach and one of lettuce only to find it has turned to sludge in the middle. However, asparagus, potatoes (red, sweet), broccoli, and eggplant have been fresh and good quality. Going forward, I'll stick to my original plan and not order their produce. read more

I am a long time user of FD and a one time user of PP. Everything went off without a hitch. The prices that PP offers simply beats FD hands down. In fact a few things I got were cheaper than my local Morton Williams. As long as I've got ice and vodka/bourbon I'm good. Its through the requests of my housekeeper and gf that I go..um.."shopping". Everything with this first PP order went off perfect. The only things of note would be that I ordered an 8 pack of house brand paper towels and got name brand instead, no biggie. Also the "glazed doughnuts" for $2.99 were really lousy. They tasted like they were 3+ days old and made in North Korea. Not a good thing. If you live in Manhattan and need to stockup on the basics PP should work out fine. The prices are great and they offer all types of deals. I ordered for the first time today with PP. I have to say I am very pleased with this service. I am very grateful for stop & shop because I already had it set in mind that I would be ordering grocery delivery from now on and not schlepping 2 huge Trader Joes bags on my shoulder and onto the subway twice a week ANYMORE! I initially began adding items to my cart on Fresh Direct...... My Cart Totaled over $200 and my list of groceries were not even halfway added. I decided to search for other services and came across PP. I read the reviews on Yelp and viewed their app and decided that although they only have two stars, I have faith that all will be well. Not only this, but everything I needed totaled $223!!!! SOLD! I was really nervous the night prior to delivery that I'm going to be extremely disappointed and irritated tomorrow because of what all the reviews were stating. My delivery time was from 7:30-1:00. They emailed me the night before delivery stating my groceries will arrive between 7:30-9:30am. To my surprise my husband and I jumped up out of bed to receive the delivery at 8:15 excited! Well...... I was excited. The delivery guy was nice and very professional. A lot of reviews on here said there's always items missing. I inventoried every item the second I un bagged everything. There was not one item missing. All of my produce arrived in perfect shape and freshness. I just had one grapefruit a little yellow. It's cool because someone in my house will eat it. I also only had one hamburger bun crushed, but I'll make croutons with dinner. I know it's just my first order with PP but I'll be ordering from them until further notice. I've been using peapod for about 3 years. Their prices for what I bought were always pretty on point give or take a few cents. The drivers always and I must stress this were ALWAYS courteous. Maybe 3 times out of the 30 or so times I ordered they were a few minutes late. Not an hour not a half hour just a few minutes, I'm fine with that. It's the people who put your order together that are complete morons. I've had dish soap emptied out all over my bread and deli meats. A bottle of bleach split open and leaked onto our dry cat food. Any 9 put of 10 times they forget to deliver stuff. My final and last order 30% of it was missing, we called and all I got was a $10 refund, they redelivered the missing items but guess what I still had to tip the new driver (it wasn't her fault so why penalize her) and they still left off stuff. I'm done here. We switched to Amazon Fresh who doesn't use plastic bags like peapod and got everything we ordered. If you like spending an hour putting together your shopping list and then having some of it come then by all means Peapod is the place to shop. What a sad pathetic delivery service this has become. read more

Horrendous experience. Was supposed to be convenient and turned out to be the exact opposite. I used the peapod pick-up service. I went to the Huntington store at the pick-up time, parked in the allocated spot and called the number for the attendant and it all went down-hill from there. I called the number five times and I was just getting a recorded message stating that the person I was calling was "unavailable". So I gave up and when into the store to the service desk and they summoned an attendant to meet me in the front of the store. The attendant was helpful and pleasant. I got home with the groceries and was dismayed to find quiet a few of the vegetable produce was far from fresh the: 1. carrot was black and looked like it was rotting. 2. boston lettuce was badly wilting and mushy. 3. red leaf lettuce was wilting and browning. 4. I paid for 4 oranges and I only got 3. I called the customer service, told them the above and they said they'd refund the items I mentioned. I also got the e-mail for their customer service, so I could show them the pics of their produce. It seemed like they give you the out-of-date produce - or maybe it's specific to this store? I got an email after 7 saying they would be late, now delivery would be between 8 and 10. 10 came and went and so did 11 and 12. I tried calling and a voice mail informed me the office was closed. I couldn't sleep because I had visions of my groceries being left at my door at 3 in the morning and spoiling. I sent a text and was finally contacted by Customers Service a day later saying sorry but sometimes stuff happens like trucks breaking down, etc REALLY, and nobody could call or text me???? Once ever couple of years, I breakdown and try this service again thinking "maybe they've gotten their act together by now." No they still haven't gotten their act together. What you think might be more convinient always turns out to be anything but that.. There are never consistent rules. Their drivers are rude, unaccommodating, and argumentative about everything. The service itself is disorganized and you never really know what you are getting. They are the only company I know that still using 5000 plastic bags every delivery instead of another more green item even in Suffolk where they charge for plastic bags when you are in the store and for good reason. Like others, I waited two weeks and ultimately was delivered less than half of the items I ordered. Peapod has always had poor management and with the pandemic they are more incompetent than ever. They don't seem to be able to set aside some of the nonperishable items (that they lead you to believe are in stock, even as late as the day before delivery!) so that you'll actually receive most of what you've waited weeks to receive. I tried Peapod ten years ago and it was more trouble than it was worth back then. In 2020, it is a joke. After today's debacle, I'm going to think twice about going into a Giant, and will certainly not attempt Peapod again. The second time, they took it upon themselves to substitute the out of stock items and again, there was stuff missing from my order that I paid for. I got my first Peapod/Stop&Shop order this week, after using another delivery service since the start of the pandemic. Peapod did an exceptional job. Only a very few items were out of stock, and not items that were on sale. Every item was fresh, none with close expiration dates, no bruised or rotten produce, no items listed at great sale prices that really aren't ever available, and not a single wrong item. In short, NONE of the problems I regularly experienced with the other service. Also, I like that delivery comes in a truck equipped to keep refrigerated and frozen items at the proper temperature. I do wish there was a way to tip the drivers online. read more

Pretty good overall, the app is fairly smooth although not as good as ShopRite's. Being allowed to add overlooked items to an order up to 24 hrs before delivery is a plus. Regular in-store shoppers will be infuriated that items they buy regularly in the store are unavailable online. read more

I decided to give Peapod a shot this past year having a need to avoid grocery stores. I signed up roughly 7 months ago now and will not be renewing my account. 1. I originally signed up for Tues-Thurs delivery as it was a bargain price however, I found that if I didn't have an order in by the middle of the weekend, I often wouldn't be getting groceries until the end of the week at best potentially outside the Tue-Thur delivery days. I get it, times are weird but it still isn't convenient and convenient is kinda the whole idea isn't it? 2. Website shows something available and I order it. Doesn't arrive with my order 'out of stock' yet it's still on the site. Order it again for the next delivery, same deal. And again a third time. I don't understand why they aren't updating the website to align with availability. With database driven systems these days, this shouldn't be an issue let alone week after week. 3. Set items to substitute if out of stock but receive nothing. So both items are out of stock? I wouldn't mind so much if this was occasional but it seems to be about 90% of the items that don't ship aren't substituted either. 4. Delivery system for arrival times is tragically awful. Today's order was due between 3-5pm. At 3pm it showed 3:15-3:45 with 2 stops away. It's now 4:15, I don't have any groceries yet and the site still shows 2 stops away with a window of 4:20-4:50. Tracking is awful. This scenario happens regularly and I also get notifications the driver is 'on the way' 15 min after they've left. 5. Check your bill carefully. I reviewed mine a week ago because, he why not. Totaling the items listed with prices was off by $3.50 from the total listed in the order overview section. I checked and rechecked the math and items delivered thinking maybe I missed something but nope, the math doesn't add up. 4b. As I sit here typing, the tracker just updated and now shows 4:30-5pm (yep, 2 stops away). Currently it's 4:20. 6. Customer service is a form email that doesn't allow you to always pick your actual issue, or sitting on hold for 40-80 minutes. All in all, this wasn't worth the money. The shortages and finding out what's out of stock after your order is already in route just results in needing to take trips to the store anyways to grab the missing things that were required for recipes. I.e - receive lunchmeat, tomato, lettuce, and cheese but no bread. If I have to go to the store for the bread, may as well get the other stuff too and save myself the hassle. There is a ton of room for improvement in this service and I can only hope the drive to groceries from home causes executive management to make some changes. It isn't all bad. Every driver I've interacted with has been friendly and courteous. My groceries arrive undamaged, and when the order ships in full (or even nearly in full) and arrives when expected, I'm a happy camper. Or there's days like today when I have had all this time to type up this review as I wait for an order that shipped incomplete and isn't here at... 4:31pm (new time on site shows 4:25-5:05 - one stop away). read more

Every order it's the same thing - fill the cart, spend time looking for coupons, discounts, and place order. Then receive an email from peapod that confirms order and discounts... and then shortly later Peapod quietly removes discounts from cart just hours to a day or so after order placed (even if nothing is touched or changed by you since confirmation). We contact peapod, they put the discounts/coupons back (and give one of several excuses that make no sense, and act like they are doing you a favor in putting them back). A day later the discounts/coupons are quietly and inexplicably removed from your order again. It's tricky and underhanded, and just not worth the effort. This happens nearly every time we've ordered. We are tired of Peapod wasting our time. Each order usually arrives with at least several quality issues (broken eggs, crushed cans, safety seals opened, expired products, perishables at improper temperatures, missing items, etc.). This then also requires more time and effort to call peapod to list the missing/damaged things in order to get refund (often they won't refund until your next order when you can return the items to the driver... otherwise they make you schedule a return & re-delivery - which means you need to wait hours again on another day for the same delivery because of things that were not your fault). And even after this, oftentimes the drivers that have picked up the bad items forget to turn in the papers, which means your returns aren't notated and you end up having to make yet another call to insure not being charged for items that are actually return replacements. (one time we even got charged again for the replacements and not credited for the returns - in other words, charged twice for same item... and spent hours of our time for the privilege of being treated this way). It's ridiculous. We had an order in for next week. But just as has been the pattern, the discount/coupon that was "guaranteed" in our confirmed order update email, then disappeared from our cart -- and then only re-appeared after we contacted peapod.... then disappeared a day later. This happened several times in a row. We've just had enough. We've cancelled our order, cancelled our podpass, and will do our shopping elsewhere. We're done with Peapod and their sneaky tactics and hope this review will help others to steer clear of them and avoid being treated like that. read more

Use this service many times with no problem, but now they must have new management. Awful, no show 2 occasions in arrow!. Never showed or called me after waiting 2 hrs beyond window time. THE SAME WEEK THEY DID IT AGAIN, 2 hrs late so far as I currently write this review. Customer service informed me much earlier that they are having trouble with the drivers truck. I used Peapod for my Giant Supermarket shopping a few times an had nothing but bad experiences with them and WILL NOT be using this service again. They always have incomplete orders and don't notify you that the items are not into stock until you arrive to pick up your order. So now I have to go out and look elsewhere for the items. The last draw was when an order was canceled and I was never notified until I show up at the store and the order was placed two weeks in advance. I had placed an order and reserved a delivery spot 14 days before a scheduled delivery. We are 66 years old, living on Long Island. My wife and I are home, trying to practice social distancing due to the Coronavirus Last night, just 12 hours before our scheduled delivery, we received a voice message canceling our order. We spent hours trying to call for an explanation. No email was accepted. After several hours of trying we reached a representative. They had no explanation or solution. I asked for a manager and was told that I'd receive a call back In order of the calls. This morning, after no call was received, I repeated the process. I devoted hours trying to resolve this and make arrangements for delivery on the eve of holiday. Yet another non fulfilled promise of a manager call back. All I was asking for was an explanation. And a new delivery time. on line, all delivery slots are filled for 2 weeks. As of now, still no call back. no solution offered but the rep. I realize this virus has put stress on a lot of companies but the lack of response from this company is unexplainable. Their unwillingness to provide a promised call back and to reschedule a delivery they cancelled after 13 days, has led me to write this review. The phone reps were unwilling or unable to assist. Peapod provides a necessary service, especially now. Their management's lack of follow up is inexcusable and show a lack of concern for the customer trying to cope with the virus and upcoming holiday. Terrible! My mother is 77 and has not left the house since March 12 due to the pandemic. She has had an escalation of issues with her Peapod deliveries in the past that she brushed off because they were eventually resolved. Today, however, she had ordered a $30 box of assorted fresh fruit and received one apple. She called to let them know, waited 45 minutes, was put on hold, transferred, and then the person hung up on her. She called back and after another wait was told that her order was complete and to have a nice day. I live in Texas and it is extremely frustrating to hear that my mother is going through this. I am making it my personal mission to let others know about how this company is taking advantage of the elderly and will try and pursue remedies through the Attorney General's office, should they not make this right. read more
