This was one of our lesser problems during the process, so I kept forgetting to follow up on it until it was too late. Long story short, I was on my own. At first, I was trying to get around not installing them, but after all these crazy rain storms in Florida, I didn't want my hardscapes getting any more eroded than they already were. I begrudgingly decided to do the front of the house, where all my hardscapes were. I made a post on NextDoor to find some local quotes - C2U Gutters was one of the first to respond and come by my place for an estimate. They were among the most reasonably priced quotes for the materials they provided (90 lin ft seamless gutters, 6-inch black aluminum, with two downspouts). After a few days' delay, Caio and his team were onsite and finished the drop in 4 to 5 hours. They were super great to work with, friendly and professional. They also said if I ever decided to extend to the rest of the house (no sales pitch pressure), they could easily do that and have it look seamless still. My family and I sought assistance with home repairs specifically roofing, believing that this company would provide the necessary help in a professional and trustworthy manner. Unfortunately, this has not been the case, and I feel compelled to detail the issues we have faced. From the very first interaction with Johana and Carlos the company presented itself as a reliable and supportive service, willing to work with us and our insurance provider to address the needed repairs. However, as the process unfolded, it became clear that there intentions were far from honorable and the attempted to inflate the overall price of our project and obligate us to work with them under threats. We were coerced into signing documentation that assigned all the benefits approved by our insurance company directly to this firm illegally. After extensive research I learned the FL law doesn't allow Contractors to obligate homeowners to sign an Assignment of Benefits for the purpose of protecting homeowners from companies like this. This was done under misleading circumstances, and we were made to feel that our insurance claim would be jeopardized if we did not comply.vWhen we confronted this company regarding these dishonest and unethical practices, Johana the owner responded with hostility, threats of legal action, and an extremely unprofessional demeanor. This aggressive behavior, coupled with the lack of transparency, an amended contract intentionally omitting and withholding information critical to protecting the homeowner's rights and interests. The contract was edited in a way that specifically disadvantages the homeowner by concealing important details and the misleading nature of the business dealings, has caused my family significant distress. Based on these actions, I believe this company is engaging in fraudulent and illegal activities, scamming people out of the insurance payment they get for home repairs, and preying on vulnerable families in need of assistance. Their tactics are not only unethical but also in violation of the law and they have been reported to authorities. When I expressed this to them and advised I was bo longer interested in moving forward with the service they began the legal threats! I demanded them to immediately rectify the situation by releasing us from any unfair contractual obligations and ensuring that we are no longer subject to their company's deceptive practices. Additionally, I expect this formal complaint outlining our experience to be handled appropriately to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future to another family and for this reason I decided to escalate this matter to the appropriate consumer protection agencies, including the Better Business Bureau, the Department of Insurance, and the Office of the Attorney General in addition to all social media platforms. Upon paying our bill, they jacked up the price $1000. $2400 for taking longer than they expected. Remember, they quoted the JOB, and gave us absolutely no time limit. No one said anything throughout the entire process that the bill would increase. When we talked to tech about it, he claimed his internet wasn't working properly and that's why we didn't receive notification. So we paid the bill and then asked Thumbtack to help us with the situation. (--- In retrospect, we should not have paid it!) 2. The work was done incorrectly! The new electrical work was wired completely wrong which created a short, plus they left a hole in the side of the box that left live wires out to the open. The trench he dug to run the wire to the pool was 2-4 inches deep when the code says 18 inches! Then he left the pool pump running dry for hours because he didn't understand how pool pumps work. There's NO WAY they have an electrical license, they had no idea what they were doing. 3. As if this wasn't enough, they "accidently" took the headlamp we lent them, and claimed to send us a new one, which has never arrived. Thumbtack has kicked them off their listing service and has been unable to contact them to mediate. Over a month later and the electrical system STILL doesn't work right, I'm out a headlamp, the trench is not to code and I'm still waiting on thumbtack to finish processing my refund.
