The day after the incident, due to pain in the lower part of the index finger, my wife called the Baton Rouge Orthopaedic Clinic to request a consult to determine if there was any damage to tendons or nerves. The Clinic was able to schedule a consult with Dr Michael Robichaux, MD for the next day. My wife and I arrived at the clinic and presented to the check-in desk. The intake person was friendly and attentive. My wofe was presented a registration form which was very succinct and to the point. Upon completing the registration form (5 min). We were ushered back to Dr Robichaux's waiting area. We had to wait only 5 - 6 minutes before we were escorted to a consult room by a medical assistant who removed the dressing and splint on the finger and took down the medical history of the injury. This took about 5 minutes. Dr Robichaux entered the consult room about 3-4 minutes after the MA was done. Dr Robichaux conducted an examination of the injury and conducted some physical testing to determine the extent of the injury. Following this, Dr Robichaux spent 15 minutes explaining what his findings were and what was needed to correct the damage to the finger's tendons and nerves. He even drew some pictures to better explain the options to be followed for the surgery. Dr Robichaux had an excellent 'bedside manner' and his explanations were straightforward and easy to follow. My wife was able to schedule her surgery with Dr. Robichaux for the next afternoon. Dr Robichaux's nurse, Jennifer, next spent about 15 minutes going over the pre-op instructions and re-dressing and splinting the injured finger. Jennifer was professional and fabulously polite. Her treatment of my wife was like she was treating her own mom. The checkout clerk was professional and friendly - complementing my wife on her nails - and took just a few minutes to process her out. With this encounter - the Baton Rouge Orthopaedic Clinic demonstrated outstanding professionalism and a very patient-friendly atmosphere. This organization is very highly recommended for someone who needs orthopaedic services in the Baton Rouge area.

I have nothing against kids as a general matter but (1) what happened to patient privacy? (2) I don't like my doctor's attention being divided between addressing my medical needs and a child. And (3) it felt like the doctor was squeezing a little work into his schedule, as opposed to being fully present and engaged in his very important job.

I began my adventure with Neuromedical back in 2010. I injured my back at work and went to see my…read morefamily doctor. They x-rayed my back and didn't see anything and said I might have just pulled a muscle. I heard and felt my back crack, bur I'm no doctor. I followed up a week later because it was still hurting. They sent me to an imaging center for a MRI. They gave me the disc and sent me to see a Neuro Surgeon. The surgeon thought it was odd they would send me to him. Okay. He prescribed physical therapy, which I did at Neuromedical. Lots of squats and twisting and pain. No good results, but we did this until 2011. The surgeon then ordered another MRI, with contrast. A week later, I went back to get the results. He said, "I know why your back is hurting. You have a broke back... in 4 places". The next procedure, spinal fusion. The surgery went well. Now I had 3 months to recover. No bending, lifting or squatting. It was the first time I had ever been away from work and being a home bound person sucked. The surgery pain went away but I noticed that a new pain was there. 3 months turned into 6... 6 became 9 and the pain was getting worse. I started getting back spasms that would cripple me. They would come without warning and all I could do is cry out to my wife and endure until they subsided. After a year had gone by, they did another MRI. It appeared that the screws may have moved. The surgeon wanted to do another surgery. This surgery would involve going in from the front and back. That surgery happened in 2012. It felt like it had worked. When I went in for my post-op, the surgeon told me that the screws had backed out and the hardware had come lose. He said this hardware was much better. The spasms stopped and I felt better. He asked me if I was ready to go back to work. I immediately said yes. He released me to go back to work. I went straight to my employer from Neuromedical and gave them my release. They informed me that my old position was filled and that I would not be doing that job anymore. Instead, they switched me to a 10 hour schedule that required standing, bending and squatting. For about a month, all was well, then the lower back pain began. Along with that pain came the shooting pain in the legs. I stayed and endured for 5 months with the pain getting worse. In January 2013, the surgeon stepped in and said I was unable to work. A few months later, I was back on the operating table. An MRI showed possible hardware failure. He was fairly confident that the fusion was complete.and wanted to remove the hardware. Months went by and the pain was still there. He said he had done all he could do surgically and transferred me over to pain management. Pain management took over the prescription of my drugs. I have had 3 steroid injections which helped some, but never lasting more than a couple of weeks. In 2015, I was back on the operating table having a spinal cord stimulator put in. They did a trial run a couple of months prior. It helped enough for them to decide to surgically implant the device. Today, I still have all of the pains. The stimulator dilutes the pain if I turn it on fast enough. It has allowed me to be able to go grocery shopping and even helps me sleep sometimes. I still go to Neuromedical every 2 months for prescription refills. The waiting sucks. Long lines are common. Anyways, that my adventure from a pulled muscle to broke back. Oh, and all of this was written while waiting to see the doctor. Waiting sucks!

Instead of fostering community and supporting a thriving restaurant scene, you've chosen to slap $200 boots on cars parked in YOUR empty lot at night. A physical therapy office... closed... but still desperate enough to nickel-and-dime people who are out spending money locally. It's laughable--if it weren't so sad. This is exactly why there's no progress here. Cities thrive on community, not on businesses squeezing every cent from the shadows when no one's looking. You made a few bucks off a tow company--congratulations. I hope it was worth the lost goodwill, the angry customers, and the countless people I'll make sure never choose your clinic when they need physical therapy. You've made it clear: your loyalty isn't to the community, or health, or healing. It's to pathetic, short-sighted profit. Shame on you.

He helped give me a variety of rehab solutions and assured me that I was on the right track to recovery. They are fully equipped to help everyone from your basic injuries to the extent of helping professional athletes. I would recommend them to anyone with chronic pain. Don't live with pain or try to webmd and asses it yourself. It's important to seek professional help to avoid long term issues. Adair is another therapist here who knows her stuff! She's a conditioned athlete herself and I would recommend anyone to come see her or Dr Hill. And when you leave, head to Varsity Sports up the street and make sure you're wearing proper shoes!
