First, I want to start by saying who I am and why should you care about this review. I lift weights on a daily basis, my workouts are intense and lifts are heavy. I compete in the sport and can't have injuries or pain stop me from it. I want a chiropractor who is geared towards athletes, who understand the needs of active people and literally puts in the work to fix your misalignments. I have tried 8-10 different chiropractic clinics in the bay area only and none and I mean NONE has come close to what I get from Peak Performance. It took me only 1 session with Dr. Tarr and Dr. Sean to be able to make my judgement and never see any other Dr. again. Last year, I was diagnosed with 2 herniated discs on my spine in the lower lumbar region and judging from the MRI I was told that I won't be able to lift for a long time and surgery might be performed. I took this issue to Dr Sean and he immediately told me that surgery is not an option, He guaranteed that he can fix the problem and he outlined a treatment plan, gave me specific exercises to fortify the back and promised that I can slowly get back to lifting within a month or two. Here I am today, completely painless, lifting as if nothing has happened and even more I feel much stronger since I worked on my form and followed Dr Sean's guidelines. If you made it this far in the review, then you don't need me to tell you how much I recommend this place. Drs Sean and Tarr have been like a brother and father to me and took cate of me like a baby. I had been seeing Dr. Bill for years but I was hesitant to try his replacement, Dr. Sean, since finding the right chiropractor can be tricky. I am happy to report that Sean is fantastic. Not only does he do a great adjustment, but he's "old school" in using feel rather than x-rays and other expensive diagnostics. He also has me come back only when needed. Dr. Bill Tarr is amazing. Seriously, when I walked in to his office I could barely move my left arm having done God only knows what to my shoulder. In about 15 minutes he had me all fixed up and practically walking on air. The man is incredible, he treated me like a friend, not just a patient, he explained what he was doing and why, showed me what was wrong and told me how he was going to fix it. Sherry, the office manager, is super friendly and accommodating, when I called their office on the recommendation of a friend she was able to get me in the same day, which was so great. Note: they don't take insurance, but their prices are super reasonable and they'll help you out with the paperwork you need to get whatever reimbursement your insurance company offers. Admittedly, the next day I was sore (that's to be expected when you need an adjustment as badly as I did), but the pain I had been in for weeks prior to that is gone and my range of motion is back to normal! As a life long skeptic I really did not have much hope for my visit. I had been to 4 other chiropractors in my life and they had all left me with a bad taste in my mouth. They all just seemed to be more interested in selling me packages of visits then actually helping me. In addition not one of them was ever able to get my neck to crack. I had given up on this field of health all together but was encouraged to give Dr. Bill a shot by my best friend. She even offered to pay for my visit. I went and have been back on a almost weekly basis ever since. It is funny what a kind face, nice smile and welcoming greeting will do to set the tone for a great experience. This is exactly what awaits you as soon as you walk through the door from Dr. Bills assistant at the front desk. (did I mention she remembers the names and faces of every single person who walks through the door). In my world this means a lot. Dr. Bill has the same welcoming attitude and really puts you at ease. He has a really cool and calm confidence about himself that lets you know he is great as his job and you can relax and trust him. This was huge for me after my previous bad experiences with other chiro's. Not only was he able to align me but he was able to get me to relax and trust him enough to be able to crack my neck. He does not waste your time when you are there. He gets you in and out all the while giving you a complete adjustment and somehow manages to have a full conversation while doing it. He also took a personal interest in some other health problems that I was having and reccomended a few tests he thought my MD should perform. It says a lot about a person when he is truly interested in his clients and not just his job. I would and have highly reccomended Dr. Bill for all your chiropractic needs. Trust me it will be well worth your time and money. On that note I would like to mention that the prices for his services are lower than any of the other chiro's I have been to, which really helps me in these rough economic times. Dr. Bill is an insanely good chiro. Appointments are incredibly quick and to the point - he is a diagnostician and technician - there's no "flim-flam man" tapdance found here. I've walked in with debilitating back pain and walked out pain free... just, wow. I am seriously grateful! Even though I live in Mountain View it is worth the drive. Also, the best part? I hardly go anymore... because all of the recurring back/neck problems I used to have have disappeared! Now I only go in if I have done something ridiculously stupid to injure myself. Dr. Bill is really amazing...a total lifesaver. He's the 3rd chiropractor I've seen, and he has alleviated several major back spasms. The first time I went in, I had been given a prescription from my GP that hadn't helped at all, and after a 10 minute adjustment, I was almost crying at the relief from pain. Also, he's strong, which is important, because I'm a pretty zaftig lady (I've had other chiropractors who couldn't really *do* anything but tap-tap-tap on my back, which didn't do a dang thing). Other details...his office is lovely, the staff is great, there's plenty of parking, and there's no pressure to come in for weekly or monthly adjustments...just call when I need him, and he can usually fit me in the same day. I've referred several family members and friends, and they all return to Dr. Bill and rave about (and recommend) him to others...which, in my book, is the strongest endorsement you can make. All I can say is WOW. Dr Bill is amazing!! I have been feeling like I was never going to get relief from my pinched nerve in my neck. I've gone twice to see Dr. Tarr and simply put, he's the best! His wall of photos of people who he's treated over the years gives this place a personable, friendly, family-run office feel. So much better than the sterile cold halls of your typical medical office. I always feel like I have a new body when I walk out. I have a dance background and Dr. Tarr knows exactly how to regularly bring my hips, knees, shoulders, and spine back into alignment. I'm so glad my personal trainer Charlie brought me here two years ago. I'll be bringing my boyfriend here and recommending that my family come here for regular tune-ups. I don't trust the chiropractor. He spends 5 minutes on each patient to make the most money for his time. He doesn't listen to needs/concerns, just gets you on the table and cracks away. I went in with a pulled neck muscle, he didn't seem to care and was extremely aggressive on adjusting my neck. Made me so nervous, that I have not gone back. Takes cash or the equivalent of cash and does not go though insurance for payment - again, something that I do not trust. Hope this helps. read more

Every time I'm in town from Canada I go see Dr. Bill. I have horrible lower back, neck and right shoulder pain and Dr. Bill always helps relieve the pain. I injured my hip during a Tango practice several months ago. I could not find any treatment for this other than some physical therapy, which didn't do a thing. I couldn't dance and couldn't sit in the car or walk for very long. My sister introduced me to Dr. Bill Tarr a few weeks ago. So far I have had three treatments and my hip has healed almost 80% - INCREDIBLE. I am still continuing Dr. Tarr's treatment to make sure my hip will completely heal. During this brief treatment period, I have had some unexpected side benefits as well. I have had neck pain caused by neck muscle tightening every time I talked for more than 5 minutes. This problem had being going on for more than a year. My ENT doctor said it was a chronic condition with no cure. After the second treatment with Dr. Tarr, my neck pain reduced a lot; after the third treatment, I can talk for more than 30 mins comfortably. Dr Tarr is indeed an amazing doctor. I also did not like that she was not able to pick up the phone between 10-1 pm, when I tried to call 4 different times. Had my first visit to Dr. Bill today. As I moved here from NC where I had a top notch chiropractor, I have been wondering how I'd find anyone as competent. I went through several chiropractors (about 8?) back in NC, finding only my final one as the winner. I went to him for about the last 10 years. He was a rare find. My boss at work loves Dr. Tarr and talked so highly of him I decided to give him a shot. When I got there, he was not only efficient, but did ask about my chiro history and was very open to hearing what I said about my past experiences - ie. what techniques work for me, intensity of manual adjustment (I need a level 2, not a level 10), etc. He accommodated me based on that. I have had manual adjustments that are way too hard for my 5'6" 113 lb body. The harsh ones hurt me. But the weakly ones, or activator are not as effective as a good manual adjustment on me. I told him these things and was very pleased to see he adjusted me from head to toe. I didn't have to tell him what to adjust. He checked things out thoroughly. I know my boss mentions Dr. Tarr does such great and thorough adjustments, that unless he has a trauma occur, he can go even 9-10 months fine without an adjustment. That is impressive. I felt the adjustment went well on me, and am curious to see how long it lasts! So I'm giving this place a 4 star cause it went well and I plan to go back but I want to see how things go over time at this office before I commit to a 5 star review. read more

I have been getting adjusted by Dr. Jordan for about five weeks and it has been well worth it. They are very affordable for people with more back problems then money and even offer student discounts if you qualify. They do not use an electric muscle stimulator that I was subjected to in the past which is a big plus.
