Mr. Brook showed up to inspect my crawlspace and literally before he pulled out the driveway, I received an email from him with a quote for $6000 with a 3% discount if booked within two weeks. I thought maybe it was a mistake, as I could not understand, after comparing his quote with the other quotes, how his could be so much less for the same work??? I called maybe six of his 20 or more references and they all were very positive, and said they would use him again; some were business references and they said they use Foothills on a regular basis. I then called Brook and asked if he did veterans, law-enforcement, and or senior discounts, which he did give me an additional 2%. I booked them, they came out on time, Brook introduced me to his crew who were doing the work, and by the end of the day they were done. I was pleased, and my HVAC company, pest control company, engineer, and others who have since gone into my crawlspace, have said what a great job Foothills did. They returned earlier this year to do an annual inspection.

I tipped them both for taking their Sunday to do the job, although my Sunday was also compromised. On both days, I initiated a phone call to inquire about the status of our appointment as time was slipping by and the courtesy of a phone call was not extended to me. The next day I made an appointment for duct cleaning at my daughter's house the following Thursday at 9:30 and they DID NOT SHOW UP. No phone call. Just a no show. I called the owner, Marshall, in Arden and he hurriedly mentioned possible car trouble saying he would reach out to Greensboro team and get right back to me. NO CALL BACK. The worst service I have ever had in my life…read more Do not recommend No stars at all! Worst service ever. Insurance company hired them for water damage to my home. 3 day job took 3 months. Moved every single item in m home ( clothes, furniture, pictures,etc.) to an unknown warehouse for new flooring to b put down. So many items stolen. Local company would never answer or return my calls. Different work crew every day that they came( which was only 5 times out of 3 months). The guys were that brought my furniture bk was very rude and hateful and wanted to place my whole house of furniture in 1 room and leave rather than placing it bk in its original spot. At least 1 piece of furniture in every one of my rooms had not scratches but huge chunks gashed out of the wood. I never report my complaints about bad service even when I really should but I had to make sure I did this time because that was the worst experience that me and my family have ever been through and don't want anyone else to have to go through that!!!

House is located in the foothills with huge boulders in the basement, a small slab area, and the rest dirt crawl space. Merritt measured the radon levels and tested the boulders, which are known for emitting high levels of radon. He returned with a detailed description of what needed to be done to correct the issue and the materials he would use. We did our due diligence and received a 2nd opinion/quote through another company, A rep was sent out and someone else at the office who didn't understand the complexity of the basement gave us a quote. They insisted on trenching and depressurizing the small slab first. If that didn't work they would cover the dirt and then the bouders with a 2nd fan installed. We chose Merritt, our concrete floor is intake. The boulders and crawl space are covered in a 20 mil white plastic, buttoned down and sealed neatly around all exposed areas with one fan in place. When he came out to inspect our home, he first used a camera to look in our duct work (where my wife thought the smell of mold was coming from), but he said, "No, everything looks good there." (That was the first indication to me that we were working with an honest guy.) When he inspected the crawlspace, I went with him, and he showed me clearly what needed to be removed and explained how the process would work. He also showed me and explained how the contractor who replaced our vapor barrier a few years ago did a sub-par job (covering up old material that had mold growing on it and not installing the vapor barrier properly). When I compared his prices to another contractor, his prices were very reasonable. Finally, Stephen scheduled and did the work for us over the course of three days. He always kept us informed of what was happening, kept answering a hundred questions, was always patient and informative, and did a very thorough and conscientious job. (I got down in the crawlspace and could see the evidence of good work myself.) When it was clear to him that some mold might have rooted down in some duct insulation, he was open about that and recommended a HVAC guy that could take care of that, since that is beyond what he does. I'd recommend Stephen because he was honest, informative, very patient, reasonably priced, and thorough. Great guy to hire to do work for you.
