I hired this "contractor" to do a carpet removal and subfloor levelling and laminate installation. The owner,AJ said they will be done in 2 days, sent 1 guy from Denver to Keystone where the job was. The proposal said trash removal and materials not included. Never ever sign a proposal like that, just find someone else. Never got any receipt how much he paid for trash or materials. He wanted $2500 on top of what the original proposal was. They finished in 3 days and wanted to charge for overtime and travel from Denver! Nothing was disclosed in advance, just totally made up prices without any receipt.Worst experience with a contractor, very rude and pushy! read more

Paint Doctor

(7 reviews)

Judge for yourself…read more Is this work "master painter" quality? You decide. The person giving you the quote is Brian, the owner. He over promises and under delivers, then hides behind his painters, avoids problems and conversation, and hides behind occasional texts. Our experience was unbelievable and beyond unprofessional. The project manager admitted to managing multiple projects during the week they committed to complete our home. They assigned 2 painters to complete about 3000 sq ft in a week, which is the time Brian quoted us. He wouldn't even add more workers because he himself admitted other crews were even worse in terms of quality and attention to detail. They committed to removing dry wall inserts and patching all walls, then did a horrendous job. They would paint first and said they'd patch walls before a second coat, which is not a best practice and was only done to avoid doing the patch work. We asked them to leave after giving them more than a week to complete the job because they started damaging our floors, tore out and broke a door frame, had no idea how to patch textured walls, and sanded our master bedroom walls without covering furniture, among other things. We had enough. We have to pay another company to finish the work they didn't and more importantly, fix their mistakes, including bringing in a dry wall specialist. As if all of that wasn't bad enough, he had his painters threaten and he himself threatened to put a lien on our home if we didn't pay them. Don't take my word for it - images of texts below. Knowing all of this, you decide if you want to give your business to "The Paint Doctor."

Cheapest quote we got by a long shot and the job they did is incredible. Highly highly recommend!!

I was slightly hesitant to use a company that didn't have much of an internet presence, however I know that homegrown businesses are generally cheaper because they have less overhead. I sent Luis a message here on Yelp and he responded relatively quickly with an estimate (which he stuck to even with some slight modifications to the project during the work). Few days later and he was here with his crew on a Saturday and ready to roll. The project took them a few hours, and Luis had to make a couple trips to Home Depot during the job. The entire time they were here, they were very professional and respectful of my property. They used wood and metal to cover up the pipes, and everything was measured perfectly, and his "finisher" came to the house to repaint them to match the textured paint on the existing basement wall. I have to say it came out looking better than I could have imagined. They cleaned up after themselves pretty well and Luis was very nice to talk to. I wouldn't hesitate to use Luis again for a construction job. He does quality work and stuck to his initial estimate.

Set an appointment for Tuesday 1/3/23 (next day), inspected work and gave us an quote via email document. Due to their responsiveness and communication we agreed to get the work completed without waiting for around for other quotes. We scheduled the job for Friday 1/6/23. We specifically met with and had work completed by Peter. We sincerely enjoyed working with him! He was punctual, had integrity, and was meticulous about his craft. Job was completed in 2 days. Pricing was very reasonable, in fact the other quotes were given through yelp messages and none of the other handyman offered to come out and inspect the work. The other two bids that we received (after Peter's work was complete) came out more expensive than what NRWillis charged... even though they never came out to inspect the work. Fireplace stone needs to be replaced. Countertop subcontractor dropped the stone on our floor so now part of our brand new hard wood floor needs to be replaced. Backsplash was installed crooked so we had to have it completely removed, purchase new tile that we have now paid for twice, and have it reinstalled. I could go on an on. When we signed our contract with him, he said any work that was done by him would be guaranteed to be done to satisfaction. How is it OK for him to abandon the job with so many issues on the work that was done? Regardless of him leaving the job early for whatever his reason may be, we feel completely robbed that we paid for a half-a$$ job on many of the items. Oh and in the process of our time working with Mitchell, he fired his kitchen contractor because she made several mistakes, fired his stone guy because he installed the wrong countertops in our house, fired his carpet guy because he let him do our backsplash and he installed it crooked. So who does he even have left to do jobs? Who knows, this guy is a con-artist. I have pictures and emails to prove it and will post them here if he even tries to argue that point.

We had to fire him and take the entire project into our own hands and he never showed us a single receipt for the work done and just took our money. We spent over 100k with the guy without seeing a single receipt in the end and we feel scammed. We will be filing a complaint with the BBB and seeing what we can do to get our money back that we deserve. Currently we sit with an unfinished kitchen, wrong electrical outlets, unfinished fireplaces with bad tiling, and a really bad taste in our mouth. Mitchell right cannot take his emotion out of any issues that arise and I am surprised he can even be called a contractor. Please please take my word for it, I write a lot of reviews, mostly positive, so for me to write this is very telling. Also keep in mind he says he "released" $4100 to me but we have over $10,000 of work incomplete so he actually stole money from us which we will be contacting the contractor's board about immediately.
