This is a unique venue in that it's a bit off the beaten path near driftwood, up in a hilly area. GPS guided us there just fine. The distillery is attached to a church and wedding venue, and the wizard academy (which our friend attended for his whiskey sommelier certification). I think the distillery is their own separate business and entity but the property all seems like one thing. The bartender said crowded barrel isn't run or connected to the wizard academy but they are friendly given the shared love of whiskey. At the whiskey academy, so somewhere on the property, is the wizard's whiskey vault. Now that's a room I'd like to get into. But, I'm not trying to be a whiskey Somme, so I'll likely never see it in person. We had a few cocktails and couple of straight pours. If we had come earlier in the day, I would have done a flight in addition, to get more tastes. Come with at least an hour to spend here. I enjoyed the Anejo agave (tequila) spirit and we bought a bottle of the Snake Wood Whiskey. This is a fun and uniquely flavored whiskey. It's a bourbon finished with Brazilian Amburana Oak which lends an interesting cinnamon like taste. But it's not cinnamon, it's like reminiscent of baking spices. Very tasty. The staff were friendly and happy to chat about whiskey. We enjoyed our time there, wish we had been able to spend just a little bit longer but such is life :)

The calamari was rubbery and the portion was tiny for $17. The mini lobster roll is embarrassing. $14 for a literal "bite" of lobster. Overhyped and overpriced (Of course, what was I expecting from an "Austin, Texas Lobster Roll" restaurant??!!)

They kept the nautical theme throughout the restaurant, which you really notice from the bar area where I sat. Service was friendly and very attentive even on a slow Sunday although though I'm guessing this location might be more of a dinner spot. There's plenty of seating both downstairs and upstairs, which makes it a good option for larger groups. As for the food I went with the Connecticut-style lobster roll since it was a warm afternoon, but the menu offers a solid variety of seafood and non-seafood options along with some delicious desserts like the key lime pie which I also got to try. Prices are definitely on the higher side as expected with quality seafood, but I had a coupon that helped offset the cost. I can't say I'd come here regularly because of the price point, but if I'm in the area and craving seafood this would easily be my go-to place.

She suggested we go by One Shot Distillery and Brewery because of its character and uniqueness. Sometimes life is more fantastical than reality. There was a Bible Study group finishing up their bible study at One Shot Distillery. One of their member said they study the holy spirit and then they have spirits afterwards. I found some degree of irony in that situation. They did share some of their birthday cake, which was quite nice. One Shot Distillery emanates Texas pride with their huge colored Texas flag painted on the exterior the building. The place is relatively small but with a lot of heart. Samantha, the bartender, was Texas friendly and beaming with helpfulness. She even provided a hill country wine, distillery and brewery map...so super kind of her. One Shot has in‑house craft beers that are brewed with a focus on traditional German‑style profiles.. They have a working distillery with gin being one of the spirits they are known for. One Shot Distillery sources from Australia their Tasmanian Leatherwood honey, which is used as a botanical in their gin. This honey is known for its distinctive floral, slightly spicy notes, adding depth and a unique aromatic character to the spirit.

I originally thought it was just the front area with some double seating, oh no, there was a whole inside area wide open! So great!! There was also outside seating with yard games as well! They also had a van that converted into a photobooth so you can take pictures and send them to yourself for free, amazing! They had games where you can occupy some time with friends while drinking some cocktails. There's a merch shop out in front if you are fancing grabbing some shirts or any sort of thing! Loved their drinks - had their Espresso Martini and was definitely a fan of their Spicy Ranch Water! Service was also great, can't complain about that! The food did take a little longer for it to be ready which was a little annoying since I only ordered their queso with chips and their pork belly tips. Parking: seemed pretty easy from when we first got there, but I can assume it can be a little hard once it's busier.
