I had a very helpful rep come explain the program to me, I waited a few months to receive it on my bill like she had stated.

Austin Energy

I paid my bill on time, and a full two weeks after the charge appeared on my account, the charge mysteriously "bounced back." I had already paid my bill, the charge seemingly went through, and most of what was left in my account had gone to other bills. After this single event, which occurred because of some delay in processing on their end, my account was switched to "cash only." Meaning I now need to go in person to pay my bill each month. This is the ONLY utility company I've ever known to make bills MORE difficult to pay after something like that. It's bizarre and ridiculous. When I moved back to Austin after being away for a while, AE requested a letter of reference from previous energy provider to waive a $200 deposit. I got a reference letter from TXU, only to have AE tell me I might need to pay the deposit anyway and it will be "credited" towards future bills. Never mind that the reason I went to the trouble of getting the reference letter in the first place is so I wouldn't have a ~$300 energy bill on top of all my moving expenses. I think these two examples highlight how this energy provider does not utilize consumer-friendly business practices, and ultimately makes life harder for people who might already be struggling. I would absolutely use a different provider if I had any choice. I had TXU for years before AE, and the difference in customer service and accessibility is night and day.

I think people tend to come on here to complain so I wanted to add a different perspective. One of…read moreour very large and super tall hackberry trees snapped in half and was leaning on some power lines. I called a private tree company that quoted me $2400. I also called Austin energy just to see how that affects the power lines and within couple of hours the Austin Energy crew came out and took care of the problem at no cost to me. I am floored by the efficiency and the crew's professionalism.

Texas Quality Services unfortunately was the HVAC sub-contractor on a major renovation of a West…read moreCampus fraternity house I oversaw. They did some mediocre work and their help with problems after the fact definitely leaves something to be desired. During the actual remodel, we failed to pass their part of the inspection multiple times. We had problems such as parts of the duct work not being glued. When you remodel student housing during the summer, you have a very, very tight time table to get things done and get your certificate of occupancy. We barely made it! A few months after the remodel (during winter) we had a problem with one of the new condenser units they installed. It was not cycling properly. To their credit they got out and fixed the problem Monday morning. The low ambient temperature was simply set wrong. (plus 1 star) December of next year it actually snowed in Austin (didn't stick, of course), the students started complained that the heat was not working in the remodeled part of the house which includes multiple furnaces. It is incredibly unlikely multiple new units would fail at the exact same time. Obviously something was probably just set up incorrectly, like before, and this is the first time it was cold enough outside to notice the units weren't running properly. I called Texas Quality Services. They had been very responsive to the initial AC problem from their installation. Sadly I was told they do not provide service and because the installation was over 1 year ago we would have to call someone else and talk to the manufacturer for any warranty claim. Since TQS wouldn't help with the problem, I reached out to a handyman friend who went out and inspected the units. He discovered the gas had never been turned on to the units since the remodel. He turned the lever and we had a good laugh. NOW FOR THE REASONS I'M UPSET AND TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE A POOR REVIEW: The main reason is because TQS failed to tighten the fittings that provide gas to one of the furnaces!!! If one of the students had figured out the gas was off instead of someone who knows what he is doing, they might not have noticed the gas smell before closing the closet and leaving. He could have accidentally blown up the $#*$%@ house!! #1 - They used clear mastic on the ducts and missed places which caused the city inspector to fail us and jeopardized our remodel timeline. #2 - They set up a condenser unit incorrectly. #3 - They obviously failed to test both furnaces. #4 - They carelessly jeopardized the safety of the tenants by failing to tighten gas fittings. #5 - They hide behind the excuse they don't do service work. This was not service work. This was your original job. If you look at other reviews for TQS, you see a common theme--complaints about their installations and crappy assistance after the fact. If you are a GC, find a better sub. If you are the property owner, demand a different sub from your general contractor. And for the owners of TQS, hire better employees and fix your boo-boos.

Isn't is strange how one mean person can ruin a 4 (potentially 5) star experience?…read more Austin Texas in August is like being wrapped in plastic with the sun pointed about 3 inches from your skin. It is unpleasant to say the least. With that in mind, imagine living without air conditioning for over 3 days. That brings you to my life. My home warranty company sent out Texas Quality Services. Jordan at their office was pleasant and helpful. When another client was a no show, Jordan sent Sammy the tech to me asap. Sammy was also pleasant and helpful. The poor guy was working in the heat, sweating like crazy but remained nice. I don't know many people that could do that. On the day the work was to be completed, a part on the brand new unit was leaking. Its 5pm on a Friday and of course there is no way for poor Sammy to do anything to help. One more night in hell was my future. He promised to be back Saturday morning. Saturday morning comes and Sammy is 45 minutes away at 9:20am. At 11am he is still no where to be found so I called and called. No answer. HERE is where the great experience falls apart. I am convinced the poor guy is lost or in an accident or stuck somewhere so I call the GM wondering if he can help find poor Sammy. THANKS TO JUSTIN STEVENS, GENERAL MANAGER 4 (potentially 5) stars is a 2 (and only a 2 because of Jordan and Sammy). His incredible unprofessionalism, rudeness and hanging up on a customer after threatening to withhold services until MONDAY (Remember it is Saturday and 104 degrees) made me realize that customer services sucks. His exact words were "you are a home insurance claim and I make no money off of you so I went above and beyond by calling Sammy for you and I could tell him to go home until Monday"...click (phone hanging up). Shocker that he didn't answer when I called back and his voicemail said he is out of the office until July 15 so do not leave a message (it's August Justin, get your act together). I thought about calling the owner, who I see has the same last name but I figure whats the point. Brothers stick together. Instead, I filed a complaint with my insurance company. They were so happy to hear that their vendor claims to make no money so I guess no longer referring clients to them means 0-0 is, well, 0. That shouldn't bother the Stevens brothers since they "make no money" anyway. Texas among other hot states are in "emergency" status right now. It seems criminal to me that a company there to help with situations like this would jeopardize myself and two children because the GM didn't want to be bothered on a Saturday morning. UPDATE - SPOKE TO GINA FROM QUALITY (MARRIED TO THE GM, JUSTIN) TODAY 7/15/15 AND SHE ADMITTED TO SEEING THIS BAD REVIEW WHEN I WROTE IT AND ADMITTED TO IGNORING IT. CLEARLY SHE IS MEANT TO BE MARRIED TO THAT BULLY.

I had an engineer inspect the foundation before and after the foundation repair. The engineer signed off that the repairs were done correctly and were only needed on the one side of the house. Gary, the owner of Coffing Foundation Repair, met me at the house and walked the entire interior and exterior and he explained to me as we went the various indicators as to why the foundation was still within tolerance and showed no signs of failure. He offered to explain his findings to my potential buyer. What an honest businessman! Here we have the buyer of my house asking for additional foundation repair and the owner of the foundation company telling me why it wasn't necessary. Sure would have been an easy sell for him. I recommend using GA Coffing and Sons.

The work was paid for on August 29 and now it is November 19. Another poor example of their work was when they discovered a compromised plumbing sewer line. We appreciated the heads up so that we could get our plumber there to scope the work. Well, the Coffing crew filled in the pier hole before our plumber got there, so our plumber had to get the jack hammer out... only reply from Coffing, was "Oops... sorry"... Sorry is right. We manage over 500 properties and we ventured away from our standard vendor on this job because of a $1000 difference supposedly on the front end... Cost more in the long end... Boo Hiss...
