On vacation with a few friends and we asked for a recommendation for a rowdy bar. This was St. Patrick's day also. We were recommended by some locals that this was the place to be. It did not disappoint! It was packed shoulder to shoulder with people yelling along to the songs the live singer was playing. I don't know what it is like on an average day but for the holiday it was the best place we went to that night. Drinks were good and the bar staff were great. Highly recommend! read more

We were overcharged and short changed by the bar man for our first round when we paid with cash. I told him that the amount he gave me back couldn't be correct. He went to the toll and gave me 5 euro more from the register. We stayed at the pub because the music was fabulous. On the second round of drinks which we paid by credit card, the same bar man rang up the same two drinks for 5 euro less than we had paid the first time. While we did end up getting the additional 5 euro back after we asked him if he was going to give us the 5 euro he overcharged us the first time. It makes you wonder how many tourists get ripped off every day there. Being overcharge 10 euro for two drinks is a bit much. The Barman was unapologetic so clearly this was not his first time doing it or getting caught. read more

Wow! Was recommended by a friend in the states and we stopped in around probably opening, was warmly greeted by Karl and Tommi and enjoyed a few pints. The service and ambiance were exactly how we were hoping it would be! So impressed we stopped in later in the night for great live music! First experience in Ireland and was blown away by the hospitality of our bartenders! Thank you for treating us so kindly and giving the best service possible! Also for the ladies the facilities are a lot nicer than some of the pubs in the area with a full length mirror. read more

What a fun bar!! My mom was desperate for some live traditional music and it was our last night in Ireland. We happened to walk by this place at night and couldn't resist a visit even though we were both tired. I ordered a cider so that she could listen to the tunes for a bit. I somehow found a place to stand and really enjoyed the atmosphere. I'd love to return to this spot someday for a longer visit! read more

Peadar Kearney's is one of those weird places around the Christ Church area of Dublin (McGruders is another one) that serves the dual function of being a common or garden regular old man-esque pub most of the time, and then turning into mad techno music hot-spots on Fridays and Saturdays, then back to old man pubs without anyone passing comment. Upstairs (as in the ground floor), Peadar Kearney's is your average, run-of-the-mill pub, like so many others on Dame St. Very pleasant to pass a rainy afternoon with a few pints of stout there but otherwise, nothing spectacular of unusual to write home about. Then downstairs is this mad club room, where they play electronic house music and everybody gets out of their brackets. A couple of years ago, this used to happen on a weekly basis, when the downstairs was known as 'Rogue', and they used to get some savage guest djs. These days, there are dance music gigs on again, but they don't take place on a regular basis, so you have to keep an eye out for them. The downstairs is mad, the upstairs is nice enough as such places go, but I doubt that there is much of a crossover between the two floors' patrons. read more

Peadar Kearney's is a comfortable distance away from the hustle and bustle of Temple Bar, and you are more likely to be amongst some Dublin locals than other drunken tourists. I would say this palace is your average pub, but Brian Brody (their local performer)gave it another star for me. He is a great performer and a lot of fun to watch live. My only compliant is that no one was really dancing? Must be an Irish thing. . . . cause this american was cutting a rug. Or maybe it was just the night I was there? Beer is cheap and its smaller on the inside. It appeared that people wanted to listen to the music and not dance. Which is odd to me, because I always dance like no one is watching! You'd have a hard time missing Pedar's walking down the main drag that separates Temple Bar from the Dame Lane bars. This is the kind of place one thinks of when imagining an Irish Pub, a multifaceted place that welcomes all. The natural progression of people can be seen throughout the day, and depending on what time you pop by the crowds will be wildly different. For example, if you stop in early enough, this is definitely a place where you can see the local guys who have been coming in forever having a pint and watching the match on TV, but if you happen to be here on a Friday or Saturday night, the place will be three deep at the little bar, and you can bet someone will be playing guitar for the wall to wall crowd of revilers This was us last Saturday night. We did the traditional stops one does when in Dublin (or at least, what we do), starting at Temple bar working our way down to Dame Lane for a pint. This weekend happened to be smack in the middle of Dublin's fringe fest, and the town was awash with people. Not that I was complaining; a happily inebriated crowed singing with the buskers on the street has been and will continue to be a favorite site of mine. Any who, after the usual stops we started heading back towards our place and stumbled upon a familiar place from past travels, Pedar's. The place was jamming as we expected, but having caught a match of the all-Ireland Hurling match here a few years back, and having been treated so nicely, we had to pop in to say hi. We were not disappointed. The place was full of happy folks and live music, which was after all the reason we wanted to spend a night here on our way home. We were lucky enough to score a couple of seats at the first floor bar, and made this our home base for our last few pints in this city we love to visit. The guy on guitar was blasting out some great tunes, the beers kept flowing and the staff was on point. All in all, this was a perfect way to wrap up a long night in Dublin. If you're in town and looking for a pint, this place is absolutely worth checking out; make sure to give it a shot early and late to experience how different the atmosphere can be. read more

I'm gonna disagree with the previous reviewer who makes this quaint little pub sound like a full moon party E-fest. Peadars is a great pub and is decorated in true traditional Dublin style. The staff and management are friendly and professional. Even though it's a traditional Dublin pub, there are still staff behind the bar who are well known and reputed in the world of mixology. Have a look around the walls to see the numerous international mixology awards won by James, one of the owners. They have live music on seven days a week and the only techno parties downstairs are actually private bookings and nothing to do with the management of the pub itself. During the summer, when its warm enough to open the front of the pub up completely, this is when it comes into its own. Absolutely impossible to walk past without stopping in for a quick pint. Homesick Americans can come here and meet other Americans whose cousin was your roommate in the first year of college. That DID happen last night. Ground floor is a standard Irish pub but, as an American, I always head right downstairs and go to the beer pong and proper jaegerbombs. I'm sure you could also play flip cup on one of the other tables if you so desire. read more

This is a great pub right on Dame Street in the heart of the city. They have live music on many nights and are right next door to the Olympia Theatre so its a great spot to grab a few drinks before a show if you are heading next door. read more

I can only drink vodka so I know when I am handed cheap paint strippers ! The first 3 were grand but I ordered 2 at the same time to save me going back up as it was packed, nearly got sick as it tasted like paint strippers. I went back up with both and I was told it was probably the glass washer that left residue on the glasses god only knows but I did taste that before outa really cheap bottles of vodka! read more
