Think of this place as a little bit indie. They sell a few brands that I have always loved - Poetic License and Irregular Choice, which I haven't found anywhere else in Dublin. She looked at me, realised it was unlikely that I was in to get shoes for myself (we were in the kids dept) and looked for the child that must be somewhere in tow. ...there he was... faster than a speeding bullet, diving through my legs, past the fish tank (really big, impressive and colourful) and under the benches. She looks at the legs and feet poking out, measures the feet and gets a selection of runners for himself. The selection was big and well chosen.... All bright, boyish and garish as hell. I spotted the ones he would go for immediately - not the most expensive (but not cheap), but by far the brightest most garish runners I have ever seen - they even had lights, lots of lights. Within 2 mins he had them on He didn't take them off for 3 days. Great shop, great (and very tolerant) staff.

The boots were fab too and again great prices. Its off the main street in Kilkenny so unless you are staying in the Ormond or Hibernian hotels you will need a little search to find it. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and they seemed to enjoy that I couldnt make up my mind! they have some handbags but the shoes are the thing here. When i got back to Dublin I saw the same shoes in OFFICE for €85, they cost me €45 in the shoe box!

I did find some breakaway lanyards that I can definitely use for my work ID. Then we checked out Kipling. It is pricier than the stuff that I can get Stateside but the designs here are a lot more exciting. Spent most of our time in Super Dry and found some good deals. Then took a coffee break at Starbucks then continued with our shopping spree. Found the cutest coat at Joules. The workers in each store were super friendly and helpful. Their toilets were nice, clean, and well-maintained. There was enough parking spots.

I walked by an on - street doughnut & coffee cart and their idea of a deal for a coffee and doughnut was €5. I'm pleased to say that my money stayed in my pocket. I also priced a sweet/savoury crepe stall but again their cheapest sweet crepe offering was about €5 with savoury more expensive. No chance; I have no intention of handing over five euro for fifteen cents worth of pancake batter and yes I know some sugar and stuff will be added but even with that, the mark-up is eye watering and I simply refuse to be ripped off. Still I was determined to see if someone could entice me to spend money and I came across a Thai street food place and while it was near noon and devoid of customers the smell of cooking oil invaded the area. So that was enough to persuade me to keep walking. The place is very well kept and their little flower displays and some of their art and sculpture are pretty indeed. I departed with the same amount of money as I arrived with. My wife of course well that's a whole other story.
