My father was bitten by a spider, in the face and was swelling. His caregiver took him to Sunrise,…read morethe the first time at 4:30. One they arrived, they sat there for over 2 hours. Once they see the doc, it was 6:30 PM and the doc says he has Cellulitis, needs to have an IV treatment at a hospital and sends him away. They are open until 7. So, they go to the hospital, I arrive ther and the caregiver is relieved and we wait for another 3 hours...the doc writes a prescription for my dad. I ask what about the IV...why he was sent to the hospital? She said he did not have a fever and there was no need for anything other than the prescription, unless he develops a fever. I regaled the story given to us, and the ER doc said that was their standard MO. So....one bill, that has not yet arrived is for the urgent care facility, and another bill is for the emergency room visit...which was not really required....if the urgent care doc would have just taken the 15 minutes to look at my dad and write the prescription. You ought to be ashamed of the way you treat people. Fail.

My first and last experience with Sunrise Urgent Care. I…read morearrived at the Sunrise Urgent Care on Hugh Howell at 6:16 PM. I researched their hours and found that they closed at 7:00 PM. Just before getting out of my vehicle all of the window lights went out and I went to the door and it was locked. I knocked on the door and an employee came to the door and stated "we are closed," and I said "your sign says you close at 7:00 PM and it also states that online. She informed me that they take our last patient at 6:15. As I stood there talking to her with a barely controllable wheezing cough in the cold and rain, she continued to keep me at bay outside. She asked me what's going on, I told her I thought I had a cold, but I haven't been able to shake it, I have a nagging, cough and I am often short of breath. As I stood outside in the cold and rain while she continued stood in the doorway, she stated that another urgent care facility was about a mile or two up the road and it closes at 8. She went inside and closed the door, leaving me outside and came back with an address. The other location turned out to be almost seven miles down the road. I live in Smoke Rise and the Urgent Care office she sent me to was almost 10 miles from my home with an hour wait. After being diagnosed with bronchitis, I then went to my Kroger pharmacy on Rockbridge Rd. and waited for my prescription. I did not get home until close to 9PM. I found the employee at Sunrise to be rude, not helpful and inconsiderate given that I was ill and seeking assistance. I will not refer or recommend them to anyone who is in need of medical attention.

So even though I was travelling that Sunday to come back to Florida, I wanted to see a professional before hopping on the plane. I went right when they open on Sundays (noon). There was only one person ahead of me, but I was faster filling out my forms :-D So, my expectations were high that I'd be seen quickly, VERY quickly! Well, I wouldn't call a wait of some 45 minutes 'quick', even if I've, sadly, often experienced worse in a medical waiting room. When I was finally asked to go in, I found out why. Turns out there's no doctor here, at least not on that day, at that time. It took so long because it appears they relayed the info to some doctor on line, who then kind of prescribed the meds through the nurse/NP, who saw me and talked to me. I suppose that's better than 'not being seen by a doctor', even though I was, literally, not seen by a doctor. The prescription of Gabapentin was also 'light' (300 mg x 2 a day, when the daily limit is 3,600) - my primary, when I saw him a day later back home, promptly bumped it up. I also did not care for the fact that, at times, the NP had his mask down when he talked to me. C'mon man - you know better than that, being in the medical field! So, 3 stars, not two: I suppose they do (and did) serve a purpose. I also added them on Yelp. Another first to review! Break out the bubbly!

I was thoroughly disappointed by the level of service I received at Northlake Urgent Care earlier…read morethis month. I went in on a Sunday afternoon, hobbling up the stairs after a fall on my right hip and left hand. The assistant who checked me in and took my x-rays was incompetent -- twice she started taking X-rays of the left hip (asking me to stand on the injured right one) and twice she formed the uninjured right hand in the shape she wanted it for the X-ray and went to take the image -- had I not said something, she would have taken four x-rays unnecessarily and none that were needed! I called Northlake Urgent Care three days later to get the results of my X-rays (they had said they would call in two days with the results and had not called) -- the two x-rays of my hip were not able to be read by a radiologist! Don't waste your time, money, or energy going here.
