Several wood carvings around the property, this one was by our site

We stayed August 24-27 I strongly believe where your site is located is going to hugely impact your experience here. For RVs/Trailers, The front is limestone/gravel, not shaded and not private at all, good if you are just planning on parking and going to one of the festivals or site seeing. The side sites 22-27 are more private, spaced out with shade. There are several tent sites with views of the pond. The shower was okay, clean and well maintained. For women, 3 regular showers and one handicap. It's a campground shower house, you can't expect too much. The office lady was super nice and helpful. My biggest complaint is no swimming in the pond, but I understand the liability and it would scare the fish away! The office did have a board with the listing for a local place that had open swimming, and other things. I liked that they shared that information. We had no issues and enjoyed our time. My parents said they will for sure stay here again.

Our family of five stayed in the Trapper's Cabin (#3) June 5-8 during a road trip through Indiana and Kentucky. I know my review will not do this place justice - it was everything we wanted and more! First off, the service provided by the owners, Dave and Kathy, is outstanding. Kathy called the day we were arriving to see if wanted to have firewood delivered to the cabin before we arrived. Upon arrival, check in was quick and easy. Kathy was in the office/store and gave us a quick orientation and handed over the keys. She provided us with phone numbers for herself and Dave to use if we needed anything, as well as a security number. As we were settling in, Kathy came by to make sure we had everything we needed. We asked about a basketball and fishing gear, and ten minutes later she and Dave returned with both. This example pretty much spells out the level of service we experienced during our entire stay. Both owners are visible on the property several times throughout the day and it is evident that they take pride in their guests' comfort and satisfaction. The campground consists of 50 or so sites for campers with electric and water hook-ups, seven cabins, and some space for tent camping. Each site has a fire pit with a grill grate attachment and picnic table. The cabins also have additional seating on the porches. There is a large pond in the center of the grounds with fishing as well as canoes and paddleboats you can rent by the hour. At the back of the campground there is a playground, basketball hoop, volleyball court, and horseshoes. There are some sheltered picnic areas near the pond. Finally, there is a walking trail that circles the property. They have free Wi-Fi, which worked well for us most of the time we were there. Our cabin slept six. It was clean when we arrived and the windows were cracked, so it was full of fresh air. As you walked in, there was a table that seated four to one side. On the other side of the room was a small counter area with a mini fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. A large wildlife print blanket/curtain separated the beds from the front area of the cabin. There was one queen bed with a twin bunk above, one double bed, and a twin bed located in a loft area. Although the "bedroom" area was small it was completely functional. There was a small alcove beneath the stairs where you could stow your luggage. The air conditioner was in the bedroom area and was nice and cold the days that we needed it. The loft was surprisingly roomy. I couldn't stand straight up, but it was perfect for children. The twin is a proper bed, not just a mattress on the floor, which was nice. The kids thought the stairs were steep, but I didn't find them to be terribly so. Hanging down the wall from the loft, and also above the front door were two beautiful deer hides that had been sculpted(?) and painted with wildlife images. The front porch of the cabin had two Adirondack chairs with a side table between, a larger round table, and a wicker-style loveseat. Note that these are primitive cabins in that they do not have bathrooms. For toilets and showers, you have to walk to the shower house (a two-minute walk). The bathrooms were exceptionally clean and smelled fresh every time we visited. The showers had good water pressure and nice hot water. I am picky about public restrooms and these were the cleanest I've ever seen. During our stay the kids enjoyed a lot of fishing. They each caught some crappie which we cooked over the fire. Fishing is free and you do not need a license to fish on the grounds. The store sells bait, ice, and firewood for the same price you can find in town. My husband and I enjoyed the peace and relaxation. The name of the campground couldn't be more apt; Peaceful Waters describes it perfectly. We stayed Monday-Wednesday, so there were only a few RVs there. I imagine on the weekends when it is full it would be a bit busier, but I wouldn't let that dissuade me. There is also a trading post on the grounds that has items for sale, as well as tradesmen who you can watch, and even get to try your hand at their crafts. For more info, please see my full review on Old Goat Trading Post. We rented our cabin for about $100/night (I think it was actually $95 plus taxes), so it was a great value for a family on a budget-friendly road trip. I cannot emphasize what a great time we had. We can't wait until we can make it back for a longer stay.

First time being at turkey run state park Beautiful…read morescenery, horse back riding, camping , they even have an inn there with a pool, everything was amazing, went there for a kayak trip down the river and didn't plan anything very well on my side. Just figured that I would just find myself a shuttle service, although I have been kayaking already for about a month or so, I didn't know that they have a season for it and I was about a week to early. No problem I just wasn't able to go kayaking today but I will be back definitely, I'll just have to do better next time. I'm used to self shuttling. Got some cool souvenirs from the gift shop.

This was my second experience ever at a campground--the first being a KOA somewhere in Minnesota…read more We had the luxury of glamp-ing with our friends over the weekend, so we didn't go without electricity or water. Hallelujah! TR Campground was completely full the weekend we visited. At times I felt that maybe we were a little too close to our neighbors, especially the neighbors with 8+ guests. Our site did have some unsavory things leftover from the previous guests(s) (dirty bandaids, dog poop, shoes, a canoe paddle), so the campground really does leave it up to the guests to cleanup after themselves. We were near located near the bathhouse, which was only good for toilets. The Men's and Women's showers were out of order, so I'm not sure what the tent campers did all weekend--I find this to be the most unsavory part of camping. The campground is within walking distance of Turkey Run State Park's Trail 7, which we appreciated. This was an incredibly hoppin' place, so I'd have to recommend it. I'd even recommend visiting during the week so you don't have to deal with as much traffic. The power along State Rd. 42 did go out for a period of time on Saturday afternoon, so that impacted electricity at the campground. Luckily this didn't happen on a super hot day. They have a suggestion box located near the exit of the campground which I should have used. This seems like common sense because they're so pet-friendly, but 20 or so signs saying, "please clean up after your pet" would be nice. Yes, this is outdoor living, but other people don't need to be stepping in your dog's $#!&. I recommend Turkey Run Campground, but you won't catch me camping again anytime soon. :)

When you're polite to someone, it goes a really long way in customer service…read more We made a mistake and booked a campsite for the wrong day. They do not answer their phones and their policy says you must talk to the office for a cancellation. I called several days with no ability to speak with anyone. We did however book our tubing trip for the correct day. When we arrived we tried kindly explaining to the woman our situation. She was immediately combative and argumentative. She immediately went in defense mode. It was incredibly unprofessional and abrasive. We understand we made a mistake however we didn't deserve to be treated that way. Naturally we firmly and persistently argued back as we were approached in such a manner. Ultimately she did end up refunding us (allegedly - we did not receive it yet. But did get confirmation email we were refunded) but it was after a long awkward argument for really no reason. If the woman at the front office was polite from the get go we would have had a much better experience. The gentlemen who ran the tubing, said his name was Kim. He was very kind and professional. I would give this place another go because of his efforts in trying to make the situation more comfortable.

We stayed here during the Covered Bridge Festival Oct. 2012 and 2014…read more First the positives: It is the ONLY full hookup RV park in Rockville, IN. It is within walking distance of the town square and all the venders in the downtown area. The daily rate of $32.00 seems reasonable. The couple who operate the park are friendly and helpfull. The park is attractive, there is laundry facilities (we didn't use them) & bath and shower facilities if you need them ( we didn't use them either). Now the NEGATIVES: If it rains very much the park turns to lots and lots of mud, which it did the week we were there. The park is older & was designed for older RVs, ie 20-25 ft. long & only needed 30Amp hookups. We tripped the breaker a couple of times. We also had electrical problems with the park hookup as did another RVer, his kept going on and off one day. The park is owned by the operators father who if you have a problem refuses to come to the park. He shows up long enough to create a problem then leaves and the couple who run the place are stuck trying to solve what he caused, she says "you'd just have to know my dad", not a good answer. Two of the 3 entries are difficult to maneuver thru if you have a newer (and longer) RV such as a big 5th wheel. Half the park is on the LOW end of the park and if it does rain very much it becomes a real mess, one guy had to spread hay just to pull out and he didn't have a big trailer either. We had a 4 wheel drive Dodge or we probably would not have been able to pull out since we were on the low side of the park. One guy hit the metal corner post at the entry with his trailer ( mostly his fault but still it is a real problem where it's at but it's protecting the power pole that's also located at the entry) not good either. I gave this park 3 stars mainl because the couple who run it are nice and are "stuck" much like we almost were otherwise I'd rate it a TWO !!If you do reserve a site request one on the high side of the park and you'll be better off.
