Hilton Rochester Mayo Clinic Area - Guest room

Hilton Rochester Mayo Clinic Area

(37 reviews)

I spent five days at this Hilton location, with visits to the nearby Mayo Clinic during the visit…read more The location is a few short blocks from the clinic, despite the ongoing construction, so that's a huge bonus. Check in was a breeze, and the valet service was quick to greet us, help us unload our bags, and get our car whisked off for parking. The front desk attendant was so quick and offered us some food suggestions while they worked on getting us our room. After taking the elevator up to our floor, we got situated and relaxed a bit before checking out the space. The room was spacious, and included all the amenities we've come to expect from a Hilton property. Everything was clean and well maintained, and thanks to Hilton Honors, we had our complimentary water bottles already in the room. The beds had lovely linens on them, and the pillows were quite fluffy, which is something that is becoming increasingly difficult to find in hotels I feel. The bathroom was also wonderful with a nice deep soaking tub, which I had the pleasure of taking for a spin one evening. The bathroom sink had great water pressure, which gave me a lot of hope for the shower, but the shower just lacked that same oomph.

The great: the club and the employees in it. The aesthetics. Netflix and other streaming services…read more The pool and sauna. The good: location and ease to getting to/from Mayo Clinic. Overall it's quiet. Loved the bidet! The happy hour at the adjacent restaurant was on point. The meh: Unclear arrival instructions, there was no valet outside despite telling us we had to use valet. So we self parked. Just confusion. I also didn't care for the soap/shampoo/conditioner smell. It overpowered the room. Because it was also very cold, the windows kept cracking and the sidewalk plow outside was so loud I thought someone was vacuuming above our room. Maybe I'm just over assuming but I feel like the windows should have kept more of that noise out. The ick: I'm pretty sure at least 2 sets of our towels were just re-hung up from the prior occupant of our room, both due to smell and appearance (see picture). In all my years of staying at hotels not once have i ever even suspected that is the case, until this stay. Overall, my general impression is that this is a great Hilton property. But that housekeeping issue for me will honestly prevent me from returning next time. This was more a 2.5 for me, but the positives far outweighed the negatives so 3 stars it is.

My Mom, age 85, and I stayed there 3 nights this week in order to go to the Mayo Clinic for her…read moreappts. We drove from her home in the Twin Cities. We absolutely loved the hotel and the staff: front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, breakfast crew, shuttle drivers....wow, like an extension of the clinic - all expressing concern for the guests at the hotel, down to earth yet still very professional. Thank you for making this such a nice experience. Everything always well-stocked and cold water bottles offered for free, coffee anytime - it really did feel like home. After my Mom's grueling 2 days of appointments, we were so happy to walk into our lovely, spacious room with the full kitchen. I hope this review helps a little for those running the hotel, keep up the great work!

Update on the hotel. It's still a good hotel but a few things have changed. Starbucks is no longer…read morethere and the room we were put in this time smelled funky,,kind of a damp smell. We asked for a different room and they were accommodating. The pool is cleans and definitely not over crowded(Thank God!!) on a side note if your a IHG member you should be able to get a free breakfast-just double check. Parking is still hot as heck on the lower level.

One star. Avoid this place at all costs…read more What a nightmare. We had two prepaid rooms and the problems started the moment we arrived. There was a long line to check in and a long wait to get rooms assigned. We finally got in and got our two keys for the two rooms, we dropped our luggage in one room, and left. Of course, the parking garage did not work with our key card, so back we went and waited in line again. The parking access was added and when we came back, neither room key worked. Back down to the lobby to wait in line again. The front desk reissued keys, but when we went back to open the second room, someone else's belongings were inside! At that point they said they would comp our entire stay and moved us into a larger room at the Staybridge Suites connected in the same building. That was the one nice gesture, except it didn't hold up. After we got home, not only was our prepaid stay never comped, we were charged additionally on top of it! I had to call my credit card company to dispute it, and when they tried to reach the hotel directly, they couldn't get through after more than thirty minutes on hold. This was at around 2 PM on a normal weekday. This is a terribly managed hotel with undertrained staff. One employee helping us was on her second or third day; another had just finished her first week. Nobody seemed equipped to handle even basic check-in, let alone the billing disaster that followed. Save yourself the headache and book somewhere else.

CASH FRIENDLY LOCATION!!! I just checked in using a voucher…read morefrom another Hampton Inn that fell short and gave me a free stay voucher to fix it. As you can see in the pics... nice room. The room was clean and tucked in to Hampton Inn standards. This is the studio king on the 3rd floor. Very easy access off of the highway. Jenny did everything she could do to make check-in fast, friendly, and productive. I asked for a few favors if they were possible and she knocked it out of the park on every one of them. If I had to judge from this one interaction and framed in the perspective of my last few hotel stays in this country.... I would say that Hampton has a real asset in this employee. I have only been here long enough to write this and I can say I am likely to return. Every step was up to par with what the traditional Hampton Inn experience should be and the reason I look for this brand first. PROS: great pricing.... only a $1 upgrade to get a studio. WiFi works fine, room was clean and everything works, front desk staff, quiet/clean neighborhood, and ease of getting to the location. BEING TREATED LIKE A CUSTOMER who's business is valued! CONS: located away from shopping. There is a Walmart and a couple restaurants across the highway, but location is otherwise residential. I love this, but I know many want food right by. The mall and all the food you could want are within a 5-7 minute drive though. Really the only con I could find. Conclusion: making my list of go to locations. Unless something happens while here(and I ill update you if needed) this is a model Hampton Inn location.

There's nothing in walking distance but there are plenty of things within a five minute radius drive wise. Staff here was very friendly and it was easy to check in as well. The rooms were cozy, the amenities were also very good too! Breakfast was a hit or miss. Simply because of limited food options. There's plenty of parking here as well as well as a sheltered overhead entrance if you are getting dropped off by a rideshare, etc at the front door. Overall, I was pretty content with my visit. Good reccomend!
