Returning to port.

Friendly and super fun staff. Recommended for chartering Dive trips. The boat has 2 bathrooms and a bunch of bunks, fresh water shower, and jacuzzi! Very comfortable ride and cozy space.

Another Great Dive Adventure with the Peace Dive Boat. As an owner of a local Dive shop in Pismo Beach, I highly reccomend this boat and their great service. Pismo Beach Dive Shop has been using the Peace Dive Boat for many years now! One Awesome Adventure after another!

By far the best California Liveabord! We went on the peace on 2/20/2016 for 2 days and it was awesome! My fiancé proposed to me underwater in Sand Stone Point Aka city of sea urchins so this trip was unforgettable! This boat has amazing on demand crewmen who are super helpful! The boat is well kept, clean and has spacious bunks! The food tasty! The dive spots are breathtaking and surreal! This boat got serious dive game because there 7 different dive spots the first day and 5 dive spot the next! Not to mention the captain, Eric very friendly!! Definitely going back!!!

Can't say enough about this boat and her crew... for almost 20 years now nothing compares to the competence, skill, style and sheer kindness they share. If you hunt, take photos, or just practice new dive skills you will be taken care of. My first overnight trip in many many years and still feels like home. They go all out every time! Love this boat!

Pretty big sheephead speared at Santa Barbara Island.

This is a tough review to write. It's clear from the previous reviews that a lot of people love this boat and the crew. I have to say that In general, I agree with these reviewers. However, they have a couple of practices on their boats, specifically their non-charter free-dive trips for spearfishing, that are questionable. I recently participated in one of their free-dive trips to Santa Barbara Island, a three night trip that included a ton of amazing dives, and a lot of beautiful fish caught by nearly every participant. Honestly, if it was not for the success of the ensuing trip, I probably would have asked for a refund of my fee based on what happened the first night of the trip. I'll detail what happened. On the night that I boarded, I arrived at around 7:30 PM, since the Peace Boat website stated that the boat would begin boarding at 8:00 PM. When I got to the boat, it was about 7:55 PM, and there were perhaps 4 people milling around the back deck, which was piled high with gear, clearly dropped off earlier by other passengers. The doors to the galley were closed, and a note was taped on the door stating "Doors Open at 8:00." I returned to my car to grab a bag, and then walked down to the boat again. When I got to the back deck, the doors were open. I went inside and found the sign-in sheet, where people mark down their name and the bunk that they want to claim for the trip. To my surprise, I found that there were already 15 or so names on the list, and that every bunk other than the smallest ones were claimed. I found this odd, since the website clearly stated that boarding started at 8:00, which I assumed meant that claiming of bunks also started at 8:00. The fact that there was no gear on any of the bunks when I checked below confirmed my suspicion that the bunks had been claimed before the doors actually opened. At this point you (the reader) are probably thinking that I'm just being a pain in the butt. But the fundamental unfairness of this practice of letting passengers claim bunks before the designated boarding time, combined with the fact that I am 6 foot 4 inches tall, and simply don't fit in the smallest bunks (about 6 feet long), made me really angry. In the spirit of full disclosure, I did confront two passengers about how they were able to claim bunks before boarding time. In fact, the situation nearly precipitated a physical fight between me and two other passengers. In the end, the very nice passengers helped me to find an unclaimed bunk that was actually 7 feet long, which was perfect for me. Once settled in the bunk and trying to rest, I got to listen to another passenger have the exact same experience as me, including another verbal altercation. By this time a crew member had finally arrived, and helped smooth things over. After this problem, the trip went off without a hitch, all thanks to the careful planning of the crew and captain. In the end, I feel pretty sure that the crew and captain are aware of what happened, but I was never asked about it, and I did not have the energy to pursue it with them. After all, in retrospect it's a pretty dumb thing to get mad about. Several weeks after the trip, though, I feel compelled to write about this for a couple of reasons: 1) I don't want anyone else to have the same experience I had. This is to say, if you want to have your choice of bunk, especially if you are tall and don't want to spend three nights sleeping in the fetal position having your butt and feet bumped by other passing passengers, then show up very early. Some passengers told me that they showed up as early as the morning of the departure day (more than 12 hours before departure) to claim a bunk. Obviously, they had prior knowledge that I was not privy to. But hey, now you are privy to it as well. Good luck! 2) I don't think that the Peace Boat folks care about the unfairness of this bunk choice practice. In general, it fits with the preferential treatment that they show to passengers who have gone on a lot of their trips. I don't think that this is right. If this was a charter trip, that would be another matter. But this was a trip that was open to the general public, and the crew and captain have an obligation to ensure that everyone who signs up and pays the required fee has equal access to all of the resources on the boat. For example, the ability to take ice from the boat's supply of ice (no one told me we could do that), or the right to jump in the water and let myself drift for a half a mile, counting on the crew to come pick me up in the skiff. That was a long swim back for me. Haha. With any luck, this review will help other passengers to have a better experience by tipping them off to a couple of "secret rules" that are not stated on the company's website. Perhaps it will also inspire the Peace Boat to upgrade their website so that it clearly states that bunk choice depends on arriving very, very early. Oh, and in case you are wondering, I did leave a tip.

Simply the best dive boat on the West Coast. Went on a two day trip this past weekend, and as usual, was not disappointed. The Peace always has a top notch, helpful crew, they put you on great spots, and serve outstanding food. Steve and Bree in the galley did great work. Our sit down dinner of grilled tri-tip, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, and rosemary bread was as good as you'd find in a five star restaurant, with service to match. And the diving was awesome. The dive masters AJ, Cody, and Cameron were right there if you needed help, and the captain put us on some excellent dive sites. Bat rays, sea lions, great viz... What more could you ask for? And, of course, the hot tub! No question about it, I will definitely be back!

Scuba from the Peace! Very worth it!

Just came home from a three day live aboard where we got 9 dives in in the vessel Peace. Very friendly crew and extremely helpful! They were ready at the swim step to remove fins and help you back on board and guide you through kelp when you surface in the middle of it (oops)! The swells were coming in from different directions and they really went out of their way to search for some good dive spots! The food was good and they feed you VERY well on the boat. The heads were clean and maintained and the bunks were cozy although slightly short in length. They provided a pillow and blanket but the boat was toasty enough that they weren't needed. They were very safety orientated and were ready to refill your tanks before you could remove the first stage! The boat is roughly 65 feet with a 22 foot beam which made the trip great. For once I didn't feed the fish. Great guys!

We got super lucky with the weather and both sailings went smoothly. Island Packers staff members were friendly and knowledgeable about the channel and islands. We also got to see so much marine life! Both days we spotted humpback whales, which the staff were quick to point out. We also got to see two massive pods of common dolphins! This was such a cool experience, especially since they love to play in the boat wake. Overall, Island Packers provided a seamless, well-organized experience.

First day I took this ferry out from Ventura Harbor to the Santa Cruz Island and it was about 90 minutes and we got to see plenty of dolphins and whales. And if wildlife is spotted, they make it a point to stop so we can watch the animals up close! Note that day trippers and campers are all packed onto this ferry. Second day, I took the ferry from Ventura Harbor to Santa Rosa Island and the ride out was 3 hours, so plan for that. Again, we saw quite a lot of wildlife. We also on the way back, got a really nice look at the Painted Cave. Third day, I took the ferry from Oxnard Harbor to Anacapa Island and it was about an hour. This was a much smaller ferry, limited selection in their galley. Again, saw plenty of wildlife and got a nice video of a humpback whale. All 3 experiences were excellent and would use them again. Note that ferry ticket isn't cheap, so plan for that. Also not the different harbors that have ferries out, lots of options. I would definitely use them again next time I return!

There is so much to love about the Ventura harbor. They host great events here and there is always something going on. I love when they hire live music on the weekends so that when you're walking around you can enjoy the tunes. A great selection of restaurants here and some nice variety. I love that the harbor has Mexican cuisine, seafood, brunch spots and Greek food. Also some newer spots with arcades and beer have popped up which is great for pulling in a larger crowd/audience. This harbor has always seemed relatively safe to me. I don't see much of security or law enforcement presence but I appreciate that as it just is on the safer side. Like anywhere be aware of your surroundings but I'm happy it's always a safe and family oriented spot. Plenty of parking, easy to get to from the freeway. It's a perfect tourist destination but also locals love it here as well. Cute shops, especially their clothing and pottery store. There is a lot to see at the Ventura harbor but it's also quaint and cutesy. Not too big and you can see everything in about an hour or two depending on your pace (and spending) lol. Happy that the Ventura harbor continues to thrive, really a great spot.

Joe is everything you would want in a marine mentor or coach. He's extremely knowledgeable but also patient and knows what to say and when to say it so you learn while also feeling safe . After a few hours under his tutelage we went from not even being sure how to really start the boat to being able to pull it in and out of the slip ourselves, get it to the ocean , get it on plane, drop anchor. He also went around and did a basic safety check of everything on the boat and gave some recommendations for a simple maintenance plan . Joe is also full of good stories so it's fun just to hang out with him. I'd definitely recommend far west marine for anyone interested in getting into nautical piloting and seamanship .

She is not up to her word. she will change her mind Problem is that she is very moody and changes her mind instantly including the day of your event. Could even cancel your event! She doesn't care! Apparently has done that before! She also gets involved during your event as if she's the " event planner" when her outfit is not a fit or appropriate and should be dressed more properly! At least you're the owner and the least you can do is DRESS PROPERLY! Even if the space is nice, you don't want to deal with the headache and stress with this lady. Do yourself favor and find something else! RUN I was helping my friend find a venue for an engagement and unfortunately she stumbled upon this one because of the pictures! Again don't be fooled! IT WAS booked unfortunately Some things that were AGREED Upon before signing the contract were changed! Including the day of the event. It was agreed there florist can arrive early to set up. As I was helping the florist set up. Only certain number of people were allowed to get in! We were given at least one hour before contract was signed and she declined that the day of the event. so to save time, we needed more people to set up before guests were allowed to come inside. So she has her workers count and say only this amount of people are allowed and they were asking people That were setting up to leave ! EXCUSES ME! When are we gonna finish setting up if you didn't allow us the time there you had AGREED ON! That caused unnecessary confusion to the guests and stress for the bride and groom. It was also discussed that you are able to use the upstairs room for the prayer until the bottom one is ready as she had another event in the morning before our event and again we're not allowed to get in one hour before as she had agreed so had to rush and set up. Well! Guess what happened. When guests arrived. She only allowed certain number of people go inside when these people have driven for hours to respect the bride and groom. She left them outside until the main event started Downstairs. Why did it matter is my question! Why MICROMANAGING EVERYTHING. MICROMANAGING AT ITS FINEST! few days before the event, MORE surprises with additional charges that had never been clearly communicated beforehand. Even simple technical requests came with unexpected costs and restrictions, making coordination unnecessarily complicated. It was asked from a DJ to come as the sound system there wasn't going to be the best. When she was informed, she YELLED at the person over the phone and refused! The DJ apologized saying I'm sorry that you have to deal with this. He refunded saying good luck dealing with this human being! Communication with management ( MICHELLE) was inconsistent and at times unprofessional. After asking for an inappropriate offer from the bride, the tone noticeably shifted, and flexibility became minimal. This made the planning process more difficult than it needed to be. This is a business! I don't understand how It's run when the customer is always treated this horrible! How is she still in business! It surprises me! To add to the frustration, one of our event items was "discarded" the very next day without any notice or opportunity for pickup -- something that should not happen when dealing with personal property. We were told we threw it away! Ummm obviously it's ours and we're entitled to it and clearly brought it with us. So what I think is that she kept it to use for her future guests and overcharge because that's her motto! You paid for the food and any left over she kept and there was lots of it! Probably to treat her staff or for herself in the expense of other people. Unsure why! Even the cake! I'm so confused! If it wasn't tight with timing! We would have chosen another venue! NEVER AGAIN.
