Moki is 11 now and suffers from arthritis, but still loves to be super active and get out and play. I was away out of town for one long weekend with my boyfriend and we asked Brandy to take Moki for a hilly hike and I couldn't have asked for better care. Brandy was meticulous making sure she had all of Moki's essentials before they left. She put together a little care package with water, snacks, poop bags, leash and of course Moki's favorite ball. Brandy was also very careful about what type of meds Moki might need in case she was sore when she came back and we discussed Moki's favorite way to take her meds too. You could really tell Brandy had lots of prior experience as a Vet Tech the way she was so systematic about it all. However, the special bond Brandy formed with my dog after only meeting her for such a short while before we had to leave and go out of town was really the most impressive thing of all. Brandy really loves animals and she has a special way about her that makes them respond very positively to her too. I couldn't believe how attached Moki was to Brandy when we got back and also how good Moki looked with no limping or soreness even though they had gone for a pretty long hard hike together, as per my request. Brandy said that she had even given Moki a little mini doggy massage on her back legs, which was wonderful. Moki seemed so happy that she had gotten to get out still even though Mom and Dad had to go away for the weekend. Brandy provided exactly the type of service I am looking for in a pet sitter. I wouldn't want to give anything less to our family's fuzzy best friend.

Now, Max loves people. But, he is a little persnickety regarding dogs. He is only 45 lbs, but, he's pretty sure he's the toughest guy around. Sometimes? He gets up in the face of a really big dog, and I worry that he will get his butt kicked. We arrived that morning? To several much bigger dogs. I was concerned. The place was clean, and well organized. There was a sofa area, with a big screen tv! Max loves to watch animal channel or cartoons, so this was a big deal! There were bunk beds, tons of toys, and tons of space inside this new looking barn type structure. There appeared to be a grooming area in the back, but I forgot to ask. Out back, there was a fenced in area for play, with other dogs out there messing about. I was gone all day. Halfway through the day, Carolann sent me a text with a pic of Max playing in the yard. She said he was fun, and very sweet, and not picking any fights at all. That was good news! I stayed away, and had my me time for almost 9 hours. When I returned? He was happy, smiling, and yes, worn out. He was not dragging me to leave and get into my car. All that is great stuff! And the price was very reasonable. I will take him back when I return to the area, which I plan to, almost every year.

They could not hike with us (there are many oak trees around Penobscot Bay), so we took them to Lyndsey for 6 daytime appointments while we went to Acadia and elsewhere. We can't say enough good things about Lyndsey. She is warm and personable. She took a real interest in our dogs and their well-being. She walked them and watched out for them during their stays. She texted us during the day to update us on their condition. She was flexible when we were early or late for drop off and pick up. In short, she had empathy for our dogs and for our vacation plans. She was glad to be home as always but way more comfortable with being gone. I had several questions because the ownership is new and I am not familiar with their policies. The female was clearly irritated by my questions and she kept telling me to look at the website, which I had already done. My questions were specific to what I needed to provide for a dog that takes daily medication and if my dog could have 1-on-1 exercise/play time because she doesn't do well with other dogs. I also had a question regarding vaccinations; the prior owners would tell us when their records showed a vaccination was due. Also, we've boarded our dogs in kennels in other states that want kennel cough vaccination every 6 months (even though the vet states it's annual). When asking for clarification, she kept telling me to call my vet and would not answer any questions regarding 'their' requirements specific to kennel cough vaccination. When I finally told her that I didn't appreciate her attitude, she explained that I had an attitude and promptly cancelled my dog's reservation, telling me to find another kennel. We have been using Canine Country Club for years with nothing but GREAT experiences. I met the new owner a few days ago (she owns Paws and Claws in Belfast as well) and I thought she was nice, but apparently the owner told the staff person that I was rude when I stopped by. The only reason I stopped by was because we were driving past the kennel and I needed a reservation in just 2 days. I was hesitant to make my hotel reservations without knowing I had a reservation for my dog. The owner told me to go right ahead and make my travel reservations and assured me that she had a spot for my dog. I thanked her for her time and told her it was nice to meet her. Apparently the experience was not mutual since she told her staff I was rude. We already found another kennel to use and their staff was extremely helpful and professional. It's a shame that customer service is now nonexistent at Canine Country Club and the courtesy of returning phone calls and answering questions of customers is a huge inconvenience. I don't think they will do well with the current staff..... Apparently they don't recognize that customers have options too.

But I just took my dog here and boarded her for a few days while I was out of town, she is a very shy small Chihuahua, she did very well. I am very happy with this business and the holiday took care of my dog. The owners are super nice and helpful, it is a family run and owned place it is not a Careless corporation or anything like that. They consistently follow through on every promise, even going above and beyond what is expected. Our dog, Daisy, is very attached to us and hates when we leave, but we return to a happy, spoiled dog every single time. We use the dog walking, in-home visits, and pawjama party (overnight) services and have been completely happy with the communication (frequent messages/photos), timeliness, and friendliness. Their extensive training and expertise shows through their depth of compassion and care. On one occasion, due to circumstances out of our control, we had a major change to our arrival date/time. Michele was flexible and pleasant, allowing us to make the necessary changes to return home safely. She brought calm to a very stressful situation. I have always been very choosy about who I leave Daisy with. I prefer professionals who are trained for medical emergencies, encountering a hostile animal, taking respectful care of your home, etc. Never once have I been concerned about using Maine Sitters. When I am away, I do not worry or stress about Daisy or our home. I know they are in good hands with people I trust and that is a gift I do not take lightly. While we found the name a little odd and they came up almost last on a search for doggie daycares in Bangor (probably because they are in Hermon ME which is just 1 highway exit away or 7 minutes away). They are a very large facility and all the dogs are very happy. The limited interactions we had with staff - they were friendly and very professional. Reasonably priced with flexible longer hours. On the 2nd day of daycare, our dog practically pulled my arm off racing to go back to play! They gave me feedback that he had been well behaved and asked me a question about a scar he has so I knew that they had checked on him and knew who he was, despite the large number of dogs they oversee. We wish they had a camera system that we could log in to watch our dog play - I'd pay a premium for this service. Otherwise, Maine Animal Keeper is friendly, wonderful and we would definitely trust our dog with them again!
