Moki is 11 now and suffers from arthritis, but still loves to be super active and get out and play. I was away out of town for one long weekend with my boyfriend and we asked Brandy to take Moki for a hilly hike and I couldn't have asked for better care. Brandy was meticulous making sure she had all of Moki's essentials before they left. She put together a little care package with water, snacks, poop bags, leash and of course Moki's favorite ball. Brandy was also very careful about what type of meds Moki might need in case she was sore when she came back and we discussed Moki's favorite way to take her meds too. You could really tell Brandy had lots of prior experience as a Vet Tech the way she was so systematic about it all. However, the special bond Brandy formed with my dog after only meeting her for such a short while before we had to leave and go out of town was really the most impressive thing of all. Brandy really loves animals and she has a special way about her that makes them respond very positively to her too. I couldn't believe how attached Moki was to Brandy when we got back and also how good Moki looked with no limping or soreness even though they had gone for a pretty long hard hike together, as per my request. Brandy said that she had even given Moki a little mini doggy massage on her back legs, which was wonderful. Moki seemed so happy that she had gotten to get out still even though Mom and Dad had to go away for the weekend. Brandy provided exactly the type of service I am looking for in a pet sitter. I wouldn't want to give anything less to our family's fuzzy best friend.

Now, Max loves people. But, he is a little persnickety regarding dogs. He is only 45 lbs, but, he's pretty sure he's the toughest guy around. Sometimes? He gets up in the face of a really big dog, and I worry that he will get his butt kicked. We arrived that morning? To several much bigger dogs. I was concerned. The place was clean, and well organized. There was a sofa area, with a big screen tv! Max loves to watch animal channel or cartoons, so this was a big deal! There were bunk beds, tons of toys, and tons of space inside this new looking barn type structure. There appeared to be a grooming area in the back, but I forgot to ask. Out back, there was a fenced in area for play, with other dogs out there messing about. I was gone all day. Halfway through the day, Carolann sent me a text with a pic of Max playing in the yard. She said he was fun, and very sweet, and not picking any fights at all. That was good news! I stayed away, and had my me time for almost 9 hours. When I returned? He was happy, smiling, and yes, worn out. He was not dragging me to leave and get into my car. All that is great stuff! And the price was very reasonable. I will take him back when I return to the area, which I plan to, almost every year.

When they see their "dog bag" packed up they can't wait to get into the car. They come home tired and happy. They love it there. The facility is located on seven private acres far away from any busy streets. There are several large fenced in areas where they can play with their dog friends. There are no kennels inside but rather comfortable chairs and dog beds where all the dogs can relax. Like being home. Most important for me is how the staff treats my dogs as if they are their own. Very caring. Robin, the owner is so knowledgeable about dogs. She has helped me with my own dog's behavior. I trust her totally. Everyone at Meadowsweet communicates very well. I always know what's going on and feel my dogs are safe at Meadowsweet. You will not find a better place than Meadowsweet for your dogs.

They could not hike with us (there are many oak trees around Penobscot Bay), so we took them to Lyndsey for 6 daytime appointments while we went to Acadia and elsewhere. We can't say enough good things about Lyndsey. She is warm and personable. She took a real interest in our dogs and their well-being. She walked them and watched out for them during their stays. She texted us during the day to update us on their condition. She was flexible when we were early or late for drop off and pick up. In short, she had empathy for our dogs and for our vacation plans. He was on all 4 legs when I took him in. The pressure from the big dogs or the jumping around badly hurt his leg and now he is on 3 legs. I think I have to start all over again and get him to the surgeon he saw this spring. I cannot put my finger on it, but I suspect the staff has not had training or they lack questioning skills when a new dog is presented. Like a doc's office: is the dog on any medication? has the dog had surgery recently? is the dog allergic to cleaning solutions? Just basic inquiries might have helped determine the small dog should not go with the big dogs.

From the first minute Michele met Jet, I knew this was going to be a good experience for him. Michele took the time to get to know him, to understand what he needed to make his experiences with new people more successful. Jet takes weekly walks with Michele and Chelsea, and both have stayed overnight with all my pets so I could get out of town. My dog is shy and she's gotten to know all these people and comes one day a week to play with the other dogs. She has more confidence. They know her personally and call her by name.
