History
Established in 1997.
High Peaks Pet Sitting began as a service to veterinary clients who had family pets with special needs. Clients requested home visits for services like subcutaneous fluids, insulin injections, and bladder expression for paralyzed pets. As a veterinary technician, I was able to provide those services, and the business was born.
From its initial mission of helping pets heal at home, the business has grown and matured over the years, as have I. I am now a certified high school science teacher, using my knowledge of animal science to raise a new generation of animal advocates.
With an understanding that preventative health care is essential to pet longevity, I now offer services for well pets like hiking, nail trims, and vacation visits, while continuing to offer services to pets who require more than just a dog walker. Contact me for a free consultation to discuss the unique needs of your pets.
Meet the Business Owner: Brandy T.
I began working in veterinary medicine in Asheville, North Carolina in 1996, starting as a kennel cleaner and working my way up the ranks. I started pet sitting in 1997 when clients requested the service, and used the extra money to begin attending community college classes toward a Pre-Veterinary degree. While continuing to pet sit and work as a veterinary technician, I earned my Bachelor of Biology (magna cum laude) from University of Findlay in Ohio, and attended Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in North Grafton, Massachusetts. After leaving vet school, I earned a Master of Education in Science (summa cum laude) from the University of Toledo. I am now a certified science teacher, passing my love of knowledge and animals on to the next generation. While being a teacher is great, I really miss the critters! Pet sitting fills this space in my heart.
