He was on all 4 legs when I took him in. The pressure from the big dogs or the jumping around badly hurt his leg and now he is on 3 legs. I think I have to start all over again and get him to the surgeon he saw this spring. I cannot put my finger on it, but I suspect the staff has not had training or they lack questioning skills when a new dog is presented. Like a doc's office: is the dog on any medication? has the dog had surgery recently? is the dog allergic to cleaning solutions? Just basic inquiries might have helped determine the small dog should not go with the big dogs.

She was glad to be home as always but way more comfortable with being gone. We had a repair man stop by today, and for the first time ever, she didn't run out barking and trying to scare him off, she was watchfull, but not threatening . I was away out of town for one long weekend with my boyfriend and we asked Brandy to take Moki for a hilly hike and I couldn't have asked for better care. Brandy was meticulous making sure she had all of Moki's essentials before they left. She put together a little care package with water, snacks, poop bags, leash and of course Moki's favorite ball. Brandy was also very careful about what type of meds Moki might need in case she was sore when she came back and we discussed Moki's favorite way to take her meds too. You could really tell Brandy had lots of prior experience as a Vet Tech the way she was so systematic about it all. However, the special bond Brandy formed with my dog after only meeting her for such a short while before we had to leave and go out of town was really the most impressive thing of all. Brandy really loves animals and she has a special way about her that makes them respond very positively to her too. I couldn't believe how attached Moki was to Brandy when we got back and also how good Moki looked with no limping or soreness even though they had gone for a pretty long hard hike together, as per my request. Brandy said that she had even given Moki a little mini doggy massage on her back legs, which was wonderful. Moki seemed so happy that she had gotten to get out still even though Mom and Dad had to go away for the weekend. Brandy provided exactly the type of service I am looking for in a pet sitter. I wouldn't want to give anything less to our family's fuzzy best friend.

Last year their rates more than doubled from about $100.00 to around $230.00 for the same service. I paid their fee last year and that was my last visit. Being on a fixed income I just couldn't afford to pay their exorbitant fees. I put in an online order for a prescription flea and tick topical solution yesterday. This topical solution contains medication to alleviate tapeworm as well. My cat is prone to this due to all the rodents she eats. I received a call this morning from a representative of Moosehead Trail Vets office to inform me that because my cat missed her annual appointment, they could not prescribe the flea and tick medication. There was no appointment made (by the way). I initially ordered the med from Moosehead Trail Vet, then I saw that the same med was almost $15.00 cheaper at Tractor Supply. I cancelled the order from the vets office and made the request from Tractor Supply. The vet didn't even respond to Tractor Supply's request; they just called me with the denial. In summary, Moosehead Trail Veterinary Hospital doesn't really care about the welfare of your pet, it's that almighty dollar they care about. I take back the kind words I wrote of this facility last year, if I could give a no star rating, that's what they would receive from me. Don't be fooled by the smiles and phony caring attitude. Now, Max loves people. But, he is a little persnickety regarding dogs. He is only 45 lbs, but, he's pretty sure he's the toughest guy around. Sometimes? He gets up in the face of a really big dog, and I worry that he will get his butt kicked. We arrived that morning? To several much bigger dogs. I was concerned. The place was clean, and well organized. There was a sofa area, with a big screen tv! Max loves to watch animal channel or cartoons, so this was a big deal! There were bunk beds, tons of toys, and tons of space inside this new looking barn type structure. There appeared to be a grooming area in the back, but I forgot to ask. Out back, there was a fenced in area for play, with other dogs out there messing about. I was gone all day. Halfway through the day, Carolann sent me a text with a pic of Max playing in the yard. She said he was fun, and very sweet, and not picking any fights at all. That was good news! I stayed away, and had my me time for almost 9 hours. When I returned? He was happy, smiling, and yes, worn out. He was not dragging me to leave and get into my car. All that is great stuff! And the price was very reasonable. I will take him back when I return to the area, which I plan to, almost every year.

(These pets are predominately strangers and vacationers to the operators and to each other - so this makes a lot of sense). The owner was great and very accommodating.
