The kindergarten teacher my daughter got actively bullied my daughter over lack of ability to read. My daughter is still bitter, luckily that teacher retired, she was never punished for her behavior. Luckily her first grade teachers actually cared and she was quickly diagnosed with dyslexia. The over all lay out works well, and there were many good teachers. The gifted teacher was amazing and made my daughters life and my sons life much easier. Over all the school was a good place for my kids to grow up, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth that the teacher who builder my daughter didn't face any punishment.

My child has been here for 2 years now and Ms.Rhonda (the main secretary) has always been nasty and rude to not just me but other parents as well. One parent loudly asked her one day "why do you always pick on me & act nasty when I'm just walking my son to breakfast? Just stop it!" I can tell the secretary was embarrassed from the confrontation and everyone around looked like they wanted to applaud that mom. It felt like she took up for us all in a sense. The teachers are resourceful and nice, I'm just baffled how the principle allows someone with such a nasty demeanor represent the staff. I'm sure there are more complaints if people had the time to write a review about it.

(Only the five star reviews were listed on Niche.com which makes me wonder what other reviews are not included on their website.) My son has attended Aspen Academy from kindergarten, now in fourth grade. If you want a full on business and leadership program for your child, then the school is well designed. Our son is cognitively gifted and grasps math concepts quickly. Aspen Academy does not offer acceleration, nor true differentiation in the classroom. You would be better off at a good neighborhood public school. Their culture of kindness is great. Aspen Academy changes their curriculum every 3 years, so as a parent you'll need to be on top of what your kid is learning. For Conservative Christians, be on guard, because the curriculum chosen for literature and social studies in 2025, has teachings from Buddhism and Hinduism. Very controversial content to be aware of, including some pieces being read from books that have some racist content. We were promised the 'racist portions' would not be read to our son. There are some teachers and staff we love there, who we wish all the best. May God bless them!

Students thrive academically and socially. The school has a strong community that includes the teachers, staff and parents. It has a very welcoming environment both in the elementary and middle school. The school focuses on leadership and entrepreneurial skills which is critical in the world today. We can not more highly recommend this amazing school!

None of the students are interested in academics, and most are more concerned about who's throwing a party on Friday. Absolutely terrible. I am writing this from the perspective of a parent of an applicant to the school, not as a current…read morestudent. So take that into consideration. Also, I don't write this review lightly. I am not one of those helicopter, high society, privileged parents. Not at all. I am a single mother by choice, and my oldest child recently applied to SMA for 6th grade next fall. Initially, we were both extremely impressed with the admissions staff, the student shadow day, the parent tour days, etc. I was especially impressed by the personal touch from the school while we were applying and waiting for a decision - hand signed holiday cards, a hand written note from a teacher, another handwritten note from the shadow student. Specifically, we were shocked at the language used in the teacher and student letters, as they contained encouraging and forward guiding words implying my child could be on campus next fall. We couldn't believe it. These letters made us so hopeful. In addition, the admissions team reached out proactively to schedule a meeting for me with the Head of Learning Services as my child is twice exceptional (high IQ / anxiety). Fast forward to decision day, and my child was not accepted. We were floored given the written communication received throughout the process. My 10 year old was left confused and heartbroken at SMA's process and communication. I followed up with the school after letting the news sit for a few days. My email was NOT to get a decision reversal, and I said I respected the Committee's decision. However, I told them that my child's confusion and disappointment could have been avoided if they had not allowed that kind of written, forward looking communication throughout the process. And, I did not want that happening to a future applicant. I did ultimately get a response, but it was more along the lines of "we're sorry you feel bad about the decision." I will never know what happened in those Admissions Committee meetings, but I can't help but wonder if my child and my family structure just didn't fit with their Catholic mold. My child is not the stereotypical Greenwood Village / Cherry Hills child. My child is not the girly type in appearance or dress and has experienced bullying as a result. Mind you, my child is border line genius, has a wide variety of interests / passions, witty, funny and an overall stellar child. My child is being considered at other schools here in the Denver area. SMA advertises that about 1/2 of its student population isn't Catholic, and I was open that our family isn't overly religious. In addition, I was very open about our family structure of me being a single mother by choice (IVF on my own and no partner / Dad) with two children. Did these items factor into their decision? I will never know. But as my child said, "Jesus wouldn't treat people this way."
