Ziam was communicating via text messaging before he ever arrived. He worked hard in the hot sun. Once completed, he walked me through everything he had done and talked about things that should be on my radar in the future - our house is 75 years old, so it is in need of upgrades. And when he left, you would not have known he was ever here - left the place cleaner than he found it. I found Ziam to be empathetic and understanding as well as helpful. When I went out to investigate I discovered that the tech had locked the generator cover and taken the key. I called their "24 hour emergency line" and the surly operator who answered the call informed me that i would have to pay time-and-a-half for a tech to make a service call. Fortunately, a neighbor with the same model generator had a spare key, and I was able to open the generator cover and respond to the low oil-pressure warning. A generator is only as good as it functions in an emergency, and deliberately preventing the owner from doing simple servicing in such circumstances is unconscionable. Furthermore, make absolutely sure that you have parts on hand to deal with all the ways your generator can fail: oil, spare air-filter and key, fuses, &c. And especially the owner's manual!
