Please do not use this review to reflect and in person, in shop experience, although, I have to say, after they my experience was handled I would not shop at the store either.
I ordered a monitor from Mikescomputershop via Newegg.ca online shopping. Mikescomputershop in Hamilton is the closest shop to my city of Ottawa, Ontario and that store was fulfilling the ordered, or at least, the tracking information said it was shipping from Hamilton ON. After the delivery date had come and passed I contacted Mikescomputershop online support and was told that not only did they not know where my monitor was, they could not tell me when or even IF it would EVER be delivered. I asked the support agent if he thought I was being put in a good position,as a customer of Mikes, that he couldn't even tell me IF the monitor I paid over $500 for would EVER be delivered and what does he suggest I do about this? I was giving the support person every opportunity I could think of to just come right out and tell me mistakes were made and maybe offer amendments that would make me a happy customer again. Like substituting the monitor I ordered for one that was equally as good or even slightly better. I ordered an LG 27" 144Hz Nvidia Gsync gaming monitor. I would have gladly accepted an equally as good monitor from another manufacturer or a different LG monitor of the same type/quality. However, Mikescomputershop support guy did not offer me anything and in fact he said his best advice was to cancel the order.WTF? For the sake of losing may $100.00 he suggested I cancel the order instead?So I cancelled the order and requested a refund. I then went to Amazon and ordered another monitor ( Asus Tuff Gaming 27" 165hz) that cost me roughly $85 dollars more after taxes. So for the sake of maybe $100 Mike's was willing to lose a customer who orders electronic stuff online literally ALL THE TIME. I am an IT specialist for over 35 years, my wife and both my sons are programmers (code heads) and we ALL are NERDS and TECH geeks who like to buy the latest and greatest IT toys to just PLAY with them--who cares if we need them or not:-). for example I have spent over $5000 already this year on PC's/Laptops's, hard drives, ssd's, monitors, video cards, head sets, over the air streaming devices and recorders, I mean the list goes on and on and that's just me and most of this was bought while I was unemployed and on pogie:-). I've started working again so the spree will continue.
below is the email I sent to the Mikes support guy who suggested I cancel the order; after I received my refund:-)
==========================================
I DID receive my refund today and was glad to see it.Just so you know, I was extremely disappointed that Mikes did not come through for me over my monitor.
It wasn't the fact that it was not delivered on time, or in my case at all - sh*t happens and I understand that.What bothered me most as a customer was that the ONLY explanation I was given led me to believe that it MAY or MAY not ever be delivered and no one at Mikes knew one way or the other, or cared one way or the other.
So, as a customer I was given a choice, leave the order stand and possibly be waiting forever for a delivery that just wasn't coming or cancel the order from Mike's and order somewhere else.
This lead me to believe that Mikes knew exactly well that a mistake had been made on Mike's end and instead of owning up to it and making me a happy customer by offering a suitable substitute monitor (you could have offered to send me the Asus Tuff Gaming VG27AQ monitor which I ended up purchasing from Amazon and I would have been completely happy and Mike's would have retained a happy customer who would have made repeat orders...see where I am going with this?) which quite probably would have cost Mike's more money and Mike's would have had to absorb that cost as Mike's could not justifiably charge me more money, Mikes left me in the dark and basically said we have no clue when it will be arriving nor do we know IF it would ever arrive and we don't care so take it or leave it.
As a customer of Mikescomputershop this is completely unacceptable. You said in your last email to me, "we hope you will order from Mikescomputershop again."
Will I ever order from Mikescomputershop again?
Who knows, probably not.
The reasons?
I feel like any mistake that is made in the chain of order, pay, deliver, Mikes will blow me off and say too bad so sad, cancel your order with us and order from somewhere else.
Under these circumstances why would I ever order from Mike's in the first place?
Best Regards,
(Support Agent's name at Mikescomputershop)
