We were supposed to be a very large group of 21, but had 6 no-shows. We started a bit late because of that, but finished nearly an hour late (4 hours vs. the advertised 3). That would have been OK if our quirky guide, Christina, was taking the time to talk about the history of the local cuisine, the details about the food we were eating or the places we were eating it, but we got none of that. At one place our food was waiting for us so we had no-longer-hot pork on mashed potatoes. The name of the tour includes pub crawl, but the beverages were NOT included in the tour. We've been on many food tours in the US and abroad, and I can say with confidence you should skip this particular one.

She communicated with me via email, answered all my questions, and as the tour got closer, Made sure we were prepared. We met outside Jens and Friends, where she had delicious Rice Krispie Treat martinis waiting for us. Her personality, easy conversation, and extensive knowledge about, and passion for, both the Martini and Savannah were infectious. We immediately felt as though we had known her forever! We were the only couple on the tour, and she got to know our tastes very quickly. She even customized the drinks at each stop to what she thought we might like-- and we loved it all! I love champagne and light (not too sweet) drinks, and my boyfriend likes heavy red wines, Scotch, bourbon and Manhattans. She promised me I would like Gin by the end of the tour...I can't believe I'm saying this, but I DID!!! Next stop was a dive bar, then we had another drink while walking, before ending with an Aviator for me and a Classic Martini for my boyfriend at the Andaz. We walked enough but not too much, got a great feel for the area of the city she focused on, and most importantly had an absolutely amazing time. I went on a four hour self-guided tour through Daufuskie Discoveries and really had no idea what to…read moreexpect since there were no reviews anywhere. But since we were spending the weekend in Savannah, we thought it would be a neat adventure (plus there was a groupon!). We drove to a marina just a few miles out of Savannah and met "Captain Jim" who took us on a 20 minute or so boat ride to the island (the only way you can get there). On the ride there we spotted a few dolphins swimming close by, the closest I've ever seen a wild one swimming and I'm from Miami... Once we got there an "Island Boy" (that's what Captain Jim called him) met us on a golf cart, had us fill out a waiver, gave us a map, and the keys to a golf cart. For the next four hours we drove around on our sport golf cart on paved roads and some dirt roads to points of interest as indicated by the map. Apparently only 150 people or so live on the island now so it was rare to run into other people and if you did they always waved from their golf cart as you passed by. We only saw two people drive cars the whole time there. There were a bunch of historical houses, churches, cemeteries, and a "ruin" to look at. The history of the island is kind of sad going from running a bunch of plantations or so, union control, a bustling oyster shucking business, 80's tourism boom, to not a whole lot going on...It kind of felt like we were exploring an abandoned island. The beach was really pretty as well - I would have liked to spend more time there, but the weather wasn't the best that day. When our time was up we drove back to the marina, met Captain Jim, and he drove us back to the mainland. Overall a very interesting and successful trip!

Everyone at Daufuskie Discoveries is very friendly and extremely helpful. While DD is great with small groups, they really earned their stripes this weekend in organizing and delivering more than 80 people to Daufuskie for my sister's wedding. Despite all of the delayed flights and schedule changes, Brit managed to deliver everyone safely to and from Daufuskie. They also managed to get us a fleet of golf carts to accommodate everyone. I look forward to my next trip.

Then, just five hours before our scheduled flight, the company canceled our reservation because of a "last-minute private event." It's incredibly unprofessional to bump customers who booked well in advance for another booking. At that point, there was no realistic way to make other plans or book with another company. Vacations are short, and experiences like this are what families remember. Instead of making great memories, we were left with disappointed kids and a ruined part of our trip. I understand that unexpected situations can happen, but canceling on customers at the last minute for a private event shows a lack of respect for the people who planned ahead and trusted your business. I would not recommend booking with this company if you want to rely on them to honor your reservation.

Needless to say, the topic of slavery is an emotionally difficult subject, but a necessary topic. Sistah Patt made it interesting and educational. Take this tour. You will be happy that you did. It was very interesting and it ends with cookies (a stop at the Byrd's Cookies store)- always a good thing.

We loaded up and left promptly. She gave us some knowledge of the area on our way. She talked the entire way of lots of things we passed! We had a disabled person with a walker and she was very considerate and helped her get her walker on and off the trolley and made sure she was first on things and ahead of the group. She also had a cooler of free waters that I thought was very considerate! The itinerary was a bit different than the website I booked from. We went from their office to the boat ride, then lunch, then the lighthouse/beach area then dropped off people at their hotels and then back to their office. She said that the ticket was good for a couple days and that if you called them they would be there within 15 minutes and drop you off where you wanted within an area. We would use this service again!

I did not know who Johnny Mercer was until I went on this cemetery tour. You can't visit Savannah…read morewithout doing a cemetery tour, and Bonaventure produces the best one. When we researched sites and attractions to visit for our first trip to Savannah, we were told the 6th Sense Tours of Bonaventure Cemetery was the one to do. There's undoubtedly a hauntingly beautiful vibe about the cemetery, which is the final resting place for many people, such as famous songwriter Johnny Mercer and Little Gracie. Make sure you arrive 15 minutes before the start of the tour to find parking, check in, and meet up with your group. Otherwise, they will leave without you, so take note. Starting from the visitor information center, we walked down the road through the gates of Bonaventure Cemetery to where our storyteller provided us with history regarding the sites to where we stopped to take pictures and take in the surroundings that comprise more than 100 acres. They discuss events and people that you couldn't digest the same way on your own. The scenery is certainly beautiful between the overhanging trees, all different styles of gravesites that stretch back to the 19th century, and what feels like the never-ending resting places of many families. Some of the gravesites have the designated sign for CSA (Confederate States of America), which means those have this sign fought for the Confederacy during the American Civil War. If you love history, then you will love taking a tour here. As you walk past the various gravesites, there's a lot of history, seeing gravestones of those who passed dating back to at least the mid-1800s. Our tour guide navigated us through the cemetery, which gave us a different vibe from most cemeteries you may have visited.

It simply took us around the city to see the different squares. I could have done that on my own. I had the impression from these reviews that I would be seeing other, local, venues, but that wasn't the case. I was under-whelmed by this tour. 3- The gift that you receive afterward had NOTHING to do with Savannah. I had high hopes that I would be receiving something neat to keep as a souvenir of my visit but instead received two pint glasses from a bar that I didn't even get a drink from. Overall, I think this tour is a great idea but needs some improvements. When someone comes to visit and choose a "fun" tour, they are usually looking for something different.
