Facing the high cost of the procedure while already in a difficult financial position, I felt completely overwhelmed and started desperately searching for any avenues or options that could help. After hitting dead ends elsewhere, I finally made contact with the Humane Society of Silicon Valley. Not only did they step in to help me out financially, but they also showed genuine compassion, love, and care that completely carried me through one of the hardest moments I've faced. There is simply no way I could have gotten through this without them. Their kindness has had a profound impact on me, and I can honestly say it's going to make me a better person moving forward. There are not enough kind words in the world to express my gratitude. I am forever indebted to this organization. Thank you for the financial help, and thank you for showing such deep compassion, love, and care when we needed it most.

As someone…read moreinteracting with a major animal shelter non-profit for the first time, I am amazed by the sheer bureaucracy and fragile egos you have to navigate just to ask for kindness, context, and empathy. After posting my initial honest feedback, a supervisor called to apologize. I do want to acknowledge that Marianne from the adoption team was kind, apologetic, and took the time to listen to my concerns, which I genuinely appreciated. But the Community Services Manager, Denise, subsequently called me back. In an incredibly condescending tone, she flatly denied my newly adopted kitten his standard 14-day post-adoption medical care (routinely offered to all adopters), in what I believe was direct retaliation following my review and complaints about my experience. When a shelter manager chooses to withhold a juvenile animal's healthcare safety net in a way that felt punitive rather than centered on the welfare of the newly adopted kitten, the system is fundamentally broken. No wonder well-meaning people are forced to avoid places like this, and in the process, the innocent animals are the ones who suffer. To the donors funding this organization: please look closely at both sides of the coin. The frontline reality does not match the compassionate mission they sell you. ------------ My main interaction was with Hailey, the adoption supervisor. I understand why HSSV reviews an adopter's history and wants animals in stable homes. What disappointed me was the lack of context, empathy, and actual counseling. I had previously adopted two kittens who were later rehomed together with friends who already knew and loved them. Later, I adopted two more. I kept one, who is still with me and thriving. The other already had significant diarrhea when I adopted her. I cared for her for about ten days until it resolved, paid for her shots, and later returned her after realizing a single-kitten household was a better fit for me. She was adopted within the hour. They don't notice that the kitten went back better than she came from the shelter. About a month later, I returned because I wanted a second kitten. I was choosing between two, but one had active diarrhea. Having just gone through that experience, I asked about her medical notes, how long it might last, the recommended recheck, and what support would be available if it continued. Instead of those questions being treated as part of an informed decision, I felt they were interpreted as evidence that I was "unsure." I was repeatedly asked whether I was sure, warned that another return could affect future adoptions, and told no kitten would be adopted to me that day. I understood being asked to go home and think; what troubled me was that even returning the next day with a clear decision might not be enough. I explicitly asked for help deciding which kitten might be the better fit based on temperament, medical needs, and my circumstances. Instead, the focus stayed on whether I was "sure enough." The previous day was almost the opposite. I was interested in several long-haired kittens still in crates and difficult to assess. I asked to spend time with them in a room and was told no. After about ten minutes, the counselor told me to decide or go to the back of the line. I had to ask for one more minute while she watched the time as I tried to decide about an animal I could care for for the next 15-20 years. That contradiction is my main concern: adopters are expected to make thoughtful, permanent commitments and may be scrutinized if a placement does not work out, yet there can also be pressure to decide quickly without enough opportunity to understand an animal's temperament or medical situation. My issue is not that HSSV screens adopters or has safeguards. It is how those safeguards are implemented. Asking questions, reading medical records, understanding temperament, or needing time to think should not be treated as lack of commitment. I wish the process had felt more supportive.

5/5 Stars -- Absolutely incredible experience from start to finish!…read more I cannot say enough wonderful things about Wolfgang! I brought my young puppy in for her very first initial trim, and the experience exceeded every single expectation I had. First grooming visits can feel a bit nerve-wracking, but the entire team went out of their way to make us feel genuinely welcome, comfortable, and cared for the second we walked through the door. The customer service here is truly top-tier; everyone is exceptionally kind, warm, and eager to help. Our groomer was Audrey, and she is an absolute miracle worker. Not only did she do a fantastic job with the trim itself, but she also treated my puppy with so much patience and gentle affection. My girl was so excited and completely at ease the entire time! What stood out the most was Audrey's dedication to educating us as pet parents. She took generous time after the appointment to walk us through the right way to comb our pup's coat and recommended the exact tools and brushes we should be using at home to keep her looking and feeling her best between visits. That level of guidance and personalized care is rare. If you are looking for a grooming salon that combines genuine love for animals with masterclass professionalism, look no further than Wolfgang and request Audrey. I could not be happier with the service and highly recommend them to any pet owner!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share this experience, because it…read morewasn't the mistake that disappointed me, it was how the situation was handled afterward. I brought my puppy, Genie, in for a scheduled grooming appointment. When I arrived, I was informed that the groomer was running late. I asked the receptionist how late, and her response was simply, "we don't know." Even with that uncertainty, I decided to leave Genie there and go to work, trusting that they would do their best to get back on schedule. As expected, the groomer's late arrival pushed the entire schedule back. By the time I received the call that Genie was ready, it was much later than planned. Because I had scheduled my workday around the original pickup time, I had to rearrange my schedule before I could leave to pick her up. What happened next is what turned an inconvenience into a disappointing customer service experience. Instead of acknowledging that the delay had started on their end, the employee who helped me immediately began criticizing me for taking too long to pick up my dog. He reminded me of their late pickup policy and repeatedly told me that I should have "scheduled my time better." I calmly explained several times that I had scheduled my time and that the delay was caused by the groomer arriving late. I even pointed out that he wasn't there when I dropped Genie off that morning, and couldn't have known what was said. Still, he continued arguing instead of listening. It got so uncomfortable that I was the one who had to say that I was done arguing. As someone who works in customer service, I found it incredibly disappointing that I had to de-escalate a conversation with an employee instead of the other way around. Afterward, the manager personally called to apologize and asked me to give the business a second chance. I appreciated that call and agreed. I later went out of town, and when I returned, I called and scheduled another appointment because I wanted to give them the opportunity they asked for. The very next day, I received a call informing me that after speaking with the owner, they had decided to cancel my appointment because they "didn't think they were going to make me happy." That was honestly the most disappointing part of this entire experience. I wasn't asking for special treatment. I wasn't demanding anything unreasonable. I simply accepted their apology and agreed to give them the second chance they asked for. Instead, they canceled my appointment and left me feeling like I was the problem. To be clear, I don't blame the groomer. Mistakes happen. What I do blame is how this situation was handled. One employee's behavior turned a scheduling issue into a confrontation, and when management had the chance to stand behin' its apology, they chose to cancel my appointment. There are many places that can groom my dog. What sets a business apart is how it treats customers when something goes wrong. I was willing to move past the original mistake because I believe in giving people a second chance. Unfortunately, after everything that happened, I was left feeling that the apology didn't translate into accountability, and that's why I've decided to share my experience Since posting this review, the owner responded publicly. While I appreciate the response, I am disappointed to see it focus on explaining why the groomer was late rather than addressing what my review was actually about: how I was treated afterwards. Emergencies happen, and I never criticized the reason for the delay. My concern was being blamed for a late pickup that resulted from a delay that started on your end, and then having my follow up appointment canceled after your manager personally called to apologize and asked me to give your business a second chance. I also want to correct one statement in your response. You stated that I have a pattern of picking up Genie late. That is false. There was no recurring issue, no previous conversations about late pickups, and no history of this being a problem. The only incident being discussed is the one described in my review, where the pickup time was directly affected by the delay on your end I know that mistakes happen What matters is how we take responsibility. I accepted your apology in good faith. But that didn't translate into accountability or follow through. I wasn't looking for special treatment, just basic professionalism. And unfortunately, your response reinforces the same concern as a business owner I hope you learn from this experience.
