Resurgence Veterinary Mobility (RVM) was one of the most important parts of our lives during an…read moreincredibly difficult chapter with our dogs.
We began working with RVM in June 2024, about six months before our dog Silvio's paralysis, after he was diagnosed with a cervical spine condition. From the beginning, they listened closely and took his case seriously, but also provided so much love. Shari was often behind him on the underwater treadmill while he farted constantly, and she laughed every time, saying, "toot toot toot!" Kacie lit up whenever we arrived, wrapping her arms around him. Silvio loved RVM so much that I even bought him an extra session for his birthday in 2024. Through their care, he became stronger, more stable, and largely pain-free. He was doing well, active, and engaged. He did not go into sedated X-rays a frail dog, he was injured during the imaging process.
After Silvio suddenly became paralyzed after his X-rays, Dr. Mac responded immediately. She told us to bring him in right away and met us with urgency, competence, and unmatched compassion.
Silvio was over 100 pounds and completely immobile. Caring for him over seven months often required more than one physical therapist, and there were many moments when several staff members stepped in together to help lift, support, and move him safely. Sidney and Kacie helped us get him in and out of the car, supported him in his wagon and wheelchair, and never made us feel like the logistics were a burden. Dr. Mac ordered specialized equipment for him, fitted his wheelchair thoughtfully, and adjusted plans as his condition changed. Carol Anne, Shari, Hailey, and Dr. Mac listened when I had concerns, suggested new ideas, and were always open to changing course when something wasn't working.
They kept trying, session after session, even when progress was slow and uncertain. What mattered just as much was that they never pushed false hope or a fixed agenda. They believed in Silvio, but they also respected us as caregivers and supported the decisions we made along the way.
RVM didn't just care for Silvio physically. They held us up emotionally. During those months, they helped us learn how to recognize progress when it was subtle, keep going when days were hard, and care for a dog whose needs had changed completely. They loved him deeply, and when we eventually lost him, their grief felt genuine. I don't believe anyone there would have changed how hard they worked for him.
When our other dog, Ziggy, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, we were already bringing Silvio to RVM. I remember crying there, and no one rushed me, dismissed it, or minimized what we were facing. Dr. Mac shared resources and offered steady support. She helped get Ziggy into physical therapy quickly, and through the team's work, Ziggy built strength, confidence, and balance as a tripod. She graduated from therapy in excellent shape, a 100% perfect tripod.
RVM is not just a rehab clinic. They are a team of deeply skilled, compassionate professionals who show up fully for both dogs and the people who love them. They never gave up on our dogs, and they never made us feel alone. I will always be grateful for the care they gave Silvio and continue to provide Ziggy, and for the way they supported us through some of the hardest days of our lives.
