I am so thankful for Miss Sandy and Dog School 101. We recently adopted our dog, Penny and were looking for a local Marietta trainer who could help us be better pet parents. Sandy set us up to be part of the next obedience training session and in the meantime, Penny underwent her temperament test for daycare. Miss Sandy loves dogs with all her being. She is kind, extremely knowledgeable and devoted to her business of helping pets and their parents. Training takes patience and commitment and with Sandy's help we are working on Penny's leash reactivity and socialization skills. I was in town from Chicago with my new 5-month old pup, Luna, who began acting out due to her new environment (my parents' house in Marietta is much bigger than my little one bedroom in Chicago) and I needed to get her into training asap! Sandy's basic obedience class did wonders for me, Luna and my parents - over the course of 5 weeks we gained so much confidence in giving Luna direction and boundaries. Sandy also would stay with me after class to debrief on specific questions when I had them. I even put Luna in her daycare for a temperament test as I was so curious to get Sandy's read on her personality and interaction with other dogs! Sandy even paired Luna up with another Australian Cattle Dog that day so they could play, as she mentioned dogs of the same breed often recognize one another. Sandy just plain LOVES dogs and you'll want to soak up every bit of knowledge she generously offers. The last thing I'll mention is that I noticed many of her clients are repeats, whether they're bringing a new dog to class or further working on specific behaviors with their existing dog. We brought our Black lab puppy here for the Basic training class... it was fantastic. We learnt how to train him at home between classes and master obience instructions. The school focus on redirection rather than correction of behaviour, which we liked. We have been back for agility training and hope to do the nose class soon. Have also boarded our puppy and had Playdays...excellent experience both for Henry and us. read more

There's honestly nobody better in this business than Sandy! She treats your dog like her own child and my wife and I can drop her off for daycare and know that she's well taken care of and is having a great time. Our dog has separation and storm anxiety and Sandy has helped us to figure out ways to help her to cope with these. She is a straight-shooter when it comes to the children (dogs). We also did Sandy's basic obedience class and it was well worth the money spent and gave us a great baseline to continue her training; we are looking at doing her agility course in the fall as well! I LOVE Dog School 101. I did a lot of research of where to take my dog (a Pit Bull) for training and this place had the best reviews! Xalina and Sandy are amazing to work with. Rambo (my doggie) and I have truly enjoyed our experience in our group classes! I have learned so much and I'm so happy I now have this knowledge of the proper way to train a dog. They have helped me to realize just how smart Rambo is and he actually is trainable!:) I highly recommend Dog School 101! read more

I also agree the staff is great and they seem great for puppies. My dog is also an aggressive dog who had been abused. I thought we made this clear before we signed up but he was put in what I call puppy training. Not good for him. He required different training that I have since found and after 1 session he has shown improvement. Just wanted to say maybe not the best place if you have an aggressive dog. read more

I brought my little boy here for beginner training after I rescued him and realized he didn't know sit, stay, come, his name, anything. I brought him to training with Miss Sandy and he's very well behaved now. There were a lot of day cares and training programs I had looked at and this one seemed best for me and my boy. It's been a while since we've brought our dogs. I've had some health issues and had to make some changes. However, I loved taking our dogs there. They get to be dogs and Sandy knows dog behavior. I trust her and have referred several people to her. I hope to bring them back sometime in the near future. She and her staff took good care of my boxers. read more

I've had 4 Airedales but never have been to a dog training class....wish I would have done this years ago. Sandy was great, very energetic with great lesson plans and homework. My rescue pup it's pretty fearful about new people, and especially about men, but she loves the staff at dog school 101, even the male ones! Obedience training here helped me learn how to begin to correct some of her behaviors. I bring her a couple of days a week for daycare now, and if I'm having training or behavioral issues, Sandy is open to spending exorbitant amounts of time discussing with me, and giving me tips and tricks and even demonstrating how to work with my dog. read more

First off let me just say I'm not writing this review to be malicious but only to inform possible customers. I only enrolled my dog after speaking with Sandy ( one of two owners), I explained the situation in detail, that my dog was part herder and that he was sometimes aggressive with people and dogs. She informed me of her years of experience with herding dogs and to rest assure my dog would be trained once leaving her classes. Sadly he was not. During class she would only work with the dogs that appeared to catch on quickly. She accused us of not working with our dog at home. We realized the gentle leader she prescribed was not working but agitating him and causing him to be more aggressive. We asked if there was a different method we could use, she then recommended a choke chain collar. After the third class I received a phone call from her saying that my dog could not be trained and his bad behavior could only be managed. I even offered to pay the $150 per day for day school classes to get him private training during the day. She told me he was not welcomed in her doggy day care. It made me feel like a failure as an owner. She didn't even recommend or suggest a different method of training. She said he was welcome to come to graduation since there would be no refund. But I'm happy to say my dog could be trained. We took him to PetSmart and the trainer took the time to work with him and now he's a model pet citizen. He responds to his commands, there has been no more aggressive behavior towards strangers and dogs, and even better he can be trusted when off his leash. Like I said I'm not writing this to be malicious, Sandy is a very sweet person I just think my dog was a difficult case and she didn't know how to handle him so instead of admitting as much, she bailed on us and our dog. If you also suspect you have a difficult dog this is just something to think about before enrolling. read more

My pup loves their doggie daycare and for good reasons. These people really care about the well being of your dog and customize his daily routine. Love the daily verbal report card. 3 different areas to suit your dogs size/ energy level. CCTV monitors in waiting area that you can watch your dog interact. Very convent from 75. My dog is quite stubborn and head strong. She can be aggressive with other dogs, but with Sandy and Xalina's help she has be come a pet therapy dog. They loved her like she was their own and were very patient with me, who was a confused 1st time dog owner. They always take extra time after class to answer questions, or if you call with any concerns they always quickly get back to you. I have been using this school and day care for 3 years, and I truly believe they are the best in the city. read more

After doing some online research, I brought my dog, Elephant, a rescued Papillon mix (about 1 year old at that point), to Dog School 101 for boarding when some last minute travel for work came up. Being a rescue, she had major socialization issues and was basically intensely fearful of anyone and everyone who wasn't me. Not aggressive, no biting, but certainly vocal. When I brought her in to Sandy, the introduction was definitely noisy. Ellie growled and barked incessantly, cowered and slunk about. I was mortified and worried that Sandy would want to turn her away, mere hours before I had a flight to catch! I'm so glad she saw whatever potential in Elephant that she did! After a few mere minutes she managed to pick up a trembling Elephant in her arms and assured me that they would have a productive two weeks together! When I returned from my business trip, I was happily shocked to hear that Ellie had completely bonded with Sandy! She absolutely loves her, and vice versa. Following that boarding stay, I enrolled Elephant in the Beginner Obedience class and have nothing but good things to say about it. The focus is on redirection for unwanted behaviors. As others have said, they really do train the dog owner just as much as the dog. I regularly use their boarding services, overnight as well as daycare. Ellie gets to socialize and play with other vetted dogs and the other trainers in a safe, genuinely caring environment...and over the course of the two years that I've been bringing her, I've seen a marked improvement in her behavior. I recommend Dog School 101, Sandy, and Xalina to anyone who asks me about training or boarding services. They truly care about their customers and the well being of your dog. I really can't sing their praises enough. They're a fantastic resource, especially for fearful rescue dogs like mine! read more

After having a golden retriever for 12 years, your mind is fresh with thoughts of a well trained dog. When I lost Savannah, I never thought twice about not bringing a new dog into my life. After some time, along came Jasmine, an English Cream Golden Retriever. No dog is created equal, so being the handful she was I looked into dog schools around the area. Dog School 101 offered the location, flexible hours, and best reviews. I spoke with Sandy, one of the trainers, on the phone and she knew exactly was I was describing when I spoke about the difficulties I was having with Jasmine. From day one of class, not only will your dog learn new things, but you will too. I never thought I would see results, having brought the most misbehaved dog to class on day one, but I really did. Sandy is a great instructor, and has the time and patience needed to take you and your dog to that next level. She gives you the tools to allow you and your dog to continue growing after the last class. I also started taking Jasmine to daycare and you can really trust that your dog will not just be tossed in with every other dog. They take the time to group your dog with other dogs of the same personality, which also brought positive results. The entire staff is very friendly, and takes the time to get to know you and your pet. You will even notice this in the other dogs and owners you meet and how friendly and positive they are as well. I would highly recommend Dog School 101 for either classes or daycare. read more
