This is one of those places where you walk in, stand in line, place your order and go find a seat. When your order is ready, they'll bring it out to your table. Staff is very friendly and the evening we went, there were three or four young men that were taking food to the tables and clearing tables and they were all very friendly and helpful. We went on a Saturday night, and there was a good flow of people in and out the entire time we were there. We didn't have a hard time finding a table initially, but the place filled up quickly. But there are five or six other restaurants within a block to two blocks around this place, so there was a lot of foot traffic and a lot of people eating out in that area. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and I have to tell you that is one of the most amazing burgers I have had in the last few years. Amazing! The burger was cooked perfectly and had several strips of crispy bacon, melty cheese, lettuce, pickle, tomato, and red onion, and the meat was seasoned perfectly. I got the fries, and they were crispy seasoned well and extremely tasty. I told my wife as we were sitting there eating that this place was definitely on our list of eating establishments the next time we were in Port A, and you can bet we will be down there for another burger.

I've traveled all over the world and up and down the U.S. coastline, and I understand beach‑town dining can be hit or miss. But this experience left us genuinely confused about the glowing reviews. We walked into a tiny establishment where the bar was fully staffed and drinks were flowing, yet we couldn't even get served food. Alcohol seemed ready to go, but the kitchen was moving at a pace that made no sense. We were told food would take over an hour. For a place this small, that's baffling. It made me wonder if the rave reviews were written through "vacation goggles" -- sunburned, tired, or a few drinks in -- because from our sober perspective, nothing about the service or setup matched the hype. Maybe the "excellent" part of the name refers strictly to the bar, because the grill definitely felt off‑duty. We ended up leaving without ever getting food. Not the experience we were hoping for.

With large dead animal heads on the wall. There were 2 deer, a doe and a buck. An elk. A bighorn sheep. A Longhorn bovine. And an exotic nilgai. If that doesn't say this is where people like to hunt, while we were viewing the eclipse, we encountered a couple who stopped on the way to their hunting lease. An extra star for the service. The people were nice and helpful. We were kind of demanding and they met all our requests promptly and pleasantly. The food. The steaks had a strong, strange taste. The best I could figure was it was liquid smoke. You're not fooling anyone into thinking you're cooking over a mesquite fire by marinating your steaks in liquid smoke. At least you're not fooling me. Perfectly cooked steaks rendered nearly inedible by the overwhelming, weird flavor. My tablemate's liver was so undercooked it was bloody. I don't think liver is supposed to be served rare. The salad was really good. Other sides were meh. The green beans were canned. French fries looked like they originated frozen out of a bag. The potato skin appetizer was good. The broccoli fresh but mushy - or possibly frozen as well? The cheesecake was good but they served it upside down with the crust on top? The wines were average - drinkable, but I think the wine at Olive Garden is better? I wanted to go to the Mexican restaurant but got overruled by the two guys. I'll hold that I may be wrong about the mesquite, but I did not see or smell any sign of a wood/charcoal fire.

We stopped midday on a recent road trip to this small town burger spot with 50s diner charm and friendly people. Just off the freeway a bit, this is a great place for a tasty meal, ice cream dessert or snack pleaser We enjoyed some fried pickles while we waited for our tortilla burgers ( we added avocado). The pickle chips and ranch dressing was good but a little too salty for my liking. The tortilla burger was a veggie loaded cheesy smashed beef burger in two fried tortillas. Greasy but good. Fall all apart but finger-lickability. With a side of hot fries, this filled us up quickly. But not too full to not partake in an ice cream shake for the road. Needless to say, we couldn't move for a good two hours but we felt great having a bucket list item checked and a satiated palate.
