Our server, Shaena, was friendly and attentive with a great sense of humor. We stopped in for lunch after a morning of running errands & a lengthy dentist appointment. We sat ourselves at a high top. The place was relatively busy. There are many tv's for your entertainment and plenty of free parking in the lot. We started with a full order of raw oysters. They have really amazing vegetarian and pescetarian pizza options too which is very appreciated. The ambiance outside at the 5 o'clock somewhere bar side is really nice too in the evenings. The signature skillet chocolate chip cookie sundae. Rich, melt in your mouth hot baked cookie with ice cream and the trimmings. Very reasonably priced for resort food where you're limited to the few restaurants at the resort. Breakfast buffet the following morning could be improved. Not as gourmet as I would expect for a high end resort like this.

We arrived at 11:00 and were one of two tables with customers. Our waitress arrived promptly for drink orders and had a decent knowledge of the square cardboard's menu items. We selected two soups for appetizers ($7, $8). My friend selected the $22 blue crab wedge salad with avocados, heirloom tomatoes, cucumber and a lime dressing. I chose the prime burger with applewood bacon, onion ring and horseradish aioli, homemade chips on the side ($16). While the menu presentation on heavy cardboard was novel it was awkward to manipulate. Our soups, the truffle cauliflower bisque and the seafood gumbo, were of nice presentation. The cauliflower soup was very creamy but tasted of cream--not cauliflower--and truffle could not be detected. It was pleasantly buttery and "sweet" but not rich in a vegetable flavor we'd hoped for. The gumbo was EXTREMELY spicy and more of New Orleans descent than "old bay". Loved the okra, crab and shrimp. There was one oyster but the first bite produced rock grit and was repulsive. The rice was light and overcooked--we thought maybe it was barley. Though I finished the dish, it was far too cumin-y for my taste. The crab salad dish was NOT a wedge as presented and was minus the avocado. The heirloom tomatoes were good. The lime dressing did not taste like lime and was not used. This dish would've been happier with a vinaigrette and/or some butter flavor for the crab--and some seasoning spice like old bay on the crab. This was not a $22 salad, even considering market price on the crab. The burger was the star of the meal. Though I asked for medium rare and got a very rare burger, it was tasty. The applewood bacon was cooked to perfection and a nice thick cut. We felt the horseradish aioli was far too strong to use. I was given French fries instead of the chips I ordered, with no comment. They were good hot but did not keep their heat long. Our water glasses were only refilled upon request and far later than we needed the drink. The bill came out with different prices than the menu printed price, in our favor. The $22 salad was $18 and an $8 soup was $6. We thought maybe they subtracted for the missing avocado on the salad but not sure on the soup. Overall we felt the prices were high for the value received. The meal was not "memorable" or of the delicious depth expected for high quality eats. We did not like that they ran a floor sweeper while we ate--shouldn't happen in a classy establishment when we are the first guests. We didn't like the food "errors" such as chips for fries, not a complete lettuce wedge. The dressings were poor. It took forever to get water refills and get our bill IN AN EMPTY RESTAURANT. We made it an enjoyable experience around mediocre effort on their part. We'd love to see it continue to elevate to a level that makes a 54 mile round trip to eat there more worth our while.

A heavy downpour had turned the entrance into a shallow lake with slick footing, the kind that makes every step feel unsure. My husband took a hard fall, wrenching his back and bruising his hip. Another guest later mentioned the same slick approach, which tells me this is more than bad luck. For a restaurant that draws an older crowd, safety at the door should not be an afterthought. Inside, the welcome was much warmer. The staff was friendly and our server Ethan handled the holiday rush with calm attention. He stayed present without hovering and made sure we had what we needed. If only the kitchen had matched his level of care. The Thanksgiving menu looked promising, but the execution never quite reached the level the price tag promised. The lobster arrived overcooked and clinging stubbornly to its shell. The sauce meant to lift it fell flat. The butternut squash bisque was pleasant enough, though short on depth. The apple walnut salad was a clear winner. Crisp, balanced, and bright. It deserves a permanent spot on the menu. The entrées continued the theme of missed opportunities. The vegetables needed seasoning, especially the Brussels sprouts, which tasted like they had skipped the last step before leaving the kitchen. The potatoes au gratin stole the show, rich and comforting, which only highlighted how muted everything else tasted. For a meal tipping the scale at around $140, the food should meet the standard the setting implies. Chicanes has the bones of a great restaurant. The staff is strong, the room is inviting, and the menu choices read well. But the flavors need more care, more confidence, and more seasoning. A place aiming for an upscale experience has to deliver more than ambiance. There is potential here, but potential is not enough at this price. With steadier footing at the entrance and sharper execution in the kitchen, Chicanes could be worth the splurge. Tonight, it wasn't.

Kitsch on the walls, booths and tables and a counter that seats 8-10. You've seen it all before. Kids are welcome. Customer Service- Several of the servers have been there many years and seen it all. You can expect them to be friendly and efficient. I've never had a problem. Food- It's rural Central Florida folks so expect standard American fare. This visit I Ordered a Meatlovers Omelet with Home Fries. It came with my choice of toast or a biscuit, but I skipped that because I knew I was getting a lot of food! Of course, I had coffee. The pre-tip tab was about $14. As you can see, a lot of food! The cook knows how to finish home fries. Note the beautiful browning but not burnt. They need a little more seasoning but still very good. The omelet was huge and packed with proteins. Delicious! So, you're blowing down route 27, maybe with the little munchkins, and you need a reliable breakfast or lunch. You're sick of chains. You can't go wrong here, and you should expect a 4-star experience!
