Paul's is a very popular place! I had a king size steak burrito California-style, which means lots of grilled pepper and onions. I also ordered it as a 'plate' so I got rice and beans on the side. My associate had the queen size steak burrito. We both greatly enjoyed the food! It was cooked quickly and expertly and delivered to our table. Mine was so substantial I took half home and had it for breakfast! I'd like to try their other menu items. This place does a robust business and the food is testament to their popularity! I was disappointed at my last visit here... the quality has gone down and the prices have gone up! If you're reading this then like me, you utilize Yelp to discover new places as well as find the menu and prices in order to make an informed decision in stopping in. The price points in the photos I saw were $2-$3 less expensive than the prices on the menu when I came in. That's too much! I can understand the difficulties of owning a business during COVID, and I respect that we all have to do what we can to survive. I just wish that the transparency were clear up-front versus when I have hungry family waiting. I got a king sized chorizo burrito and it was decent, but the chorizo was dry and lacking in that richness that I had been used to in previous visits. My son got a veggie burrito and was stunned that I was will to pay $7 for it, as he said it was okay, but not worth that cost. It offers a wide variety of Mexican meeting including some meats that you will only find in authentic restaurants such as chicharron, tropes etc. It's located in downtown barrington so very convenient to access. Food is usually well seasoned and yummy with great size. If you haven't tried, I highly recommend trying the new Nashville pork belly taco - so good! The place has nice seating inside but mostly self service - you order from the counter and eat. Price is reasonable- but note that they charge a small fee for credit cards. Please don't go there. There's so many good reviews from the past but if you're planing to get a steak taco or anything containing steak please don't go here. I got a steak torta and the seasoning or sour flavor felt like spoiled meat. If not, just poor quality meat. I live 20min away from this place and as soon as I got home I had to use the bathroom. My stomach was growling and it hurt. Their aguas frescas were better than the torta. Blond Mexican lady behind the counter seemed on a tight budget because I decided to get a refill on my agua and she checked the refill fee on each individual agua flavor because they apparently have a different price refill for each flavor. This is the absolute nastiest restaurant that I've ever eaten in. To the people who gave this restaurant good reviews, I feel sorry for you. Not only is this place outrageously priced, the food is absolutely DISGUSTING. My 7 year old son who eats anything wouldn't finish his tacos. My 14 year old son ordered the beef fajitas. They were disgusting. The beef was borderline rancid and smelled horrible in addition to being impossible the chew because it was rubber. (I could have eaten a baseball glove more easily.) It bothers me as a former business executive and a former business owner, of a few companies to say this, but I am finally done with ordering from Paul's. Once again our order was 'almost' screwed up if I hadn't checked the complete meals. Speaking to a cashier/order taker, She had the audacity to correct me in my order placement when I made her repeat the order (almost 3 times) maybe I should have placed it in Spanish (what happened to the customer is always right...to you will get what we decide). She still failed in the delivery. This made my daugther, who came along, for pick up, very uncomfortable because she dislikes watching me have "that discussion". Order taker told me I could re order the meal, when I finally told her to call the manager(owner) over. Said he was not there...Attitude immediately changed to survival mode and would make the correction and refund my money due to overcharging as well! Good place for authentic Mexican takeout. There are tables inside but it's not a great setup. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is the lack of consistency. I've probably been 20 times and 2 or 3 times the tortilla is overcooked and dry....but the food is always tasty and satisfying. Last thing I'll say is that you will need to manage expectations before going in - expect quick and tasty authentic Mexican food. I have been a loyal Paul's customer for almost 5 years now. Between the value for money, relative authenticity, and friendly service, I can't say enough good things about this place. I have probably eaten here 100+ times. Their take-out is always speedy. The taco meat, whether chicken or carnitas, is always flavorful and juicy. Also the salsa verde is a must-try. I would take it home in a jar if I could. I have also used Paul's for catering an event and the food was just as excellent. 3.5 - also, their menus say Barrington Burrito, which is also how they answer the phone They're closed on Sunday (which is frustrating) and I know everyone seems to claim that it's owned by the same people as another burrito place. However, having gone to the other burrito place on a Sunday, my boyfriend and I both felt the meat was better seasoned at Bronco Burrito. I feel like the food is a bit over-priced, but it is absolutely delicious, and I love that they have Horchata. The fish tacos are a decent price and my boyfriend likes them, and their breakfast burritos. Their King burrito is HUGE, and could easily be two meals for me. The main reason this isn't a 5 star for me, is because every time I order (to go), it takes at least 10 minutes for my food. While I know this means the food was cooked fresh, I'm not sure if they're cooking the steak fresh for each burrito, and it just... seems like my orders take forever to come up. I also hate they aren't open on Sundays; Sundays are when I'm home, running errands, etc, and when I have a craving/ability to get takeout with my friends/family. It would be more convenient for me if they were closed Mondays. The last reason it's not a 5 is that we recently placed a large order on a Saturday, and our order was given to someone else. They then had to remake everything, but it was still wrong/messed up, and they argued with us about what our order was. After being remade a second time, the food finally arrived to our house. Given the circumstances, it would have been appropriate/appreciated if they had comped part of our meal, or even just given us the food they screwed up that they couldn't resell anyway. Wasn't exactly an "express" experience but I can excuse the wait time given the state of the world right now. Everyone is forgetting how to feed themselves haha.
