I'd just like to say Paulo's auto care was great. took my 2001 Silverado to a mechanic not far from Paulo's and had new OEM fuel injectors put in by one of his mechanics, long story short after putting on about 40 miles the truck got 2 codes about misfires and short circuit in the injectors. Truck started missing and sputtering and I had to leave it 15 miles from my home. Told the owner of the shop the situation and he said I can't see you for 2/12 weeks Then told me how to analyze it. Wrong answer. Took it to Paulo's after having it towed there, talked to Nathan who was great and they had the truck running like brand new after diagnosing it. They kept me informed through the whole process and told me everything that was wrong. Just sorry I didn't take it to Paulo from the get go. I highly recommend Paulo's for your automotive care. This sole review is on the basis of my overall experience at Paulo's Auto Care. I was enjoying my excursion on the highway, to eventually have lunch with a few of my friends; until there was a physical grade. When the elevation on the highway moderately dropped, this good awful sound started to emanate its way from the outside to inside of the car. With the grace of Google's assistance, I was suggested with a list of prospective Auto shops in town. After reviewing the reviews, the decision I made was so ever pleasant. As I walked in the body shop, with much embarrassment, the manager was quickly receptive and willing to assist. After providing him both verbally and physically all of my concerns, the manager was able to meditate the issue. Within fifteen to eighteen minutes, I was instructed that the under body shield was the sole contributor to the cackling noise. It also should be highlighted in this review about the manager's character and principles. In this non-lengthy process, the manager (apologies, as I don't recall his name) was competent, thorough, direct and most importantly he exemplified impeccable verbal communication. With the overall rapport I've experienced that day, I hope that more individuals and families will have the privilege to be serviced by people like the manager here at Paulo's. I could not be more pleased with my experience at Paulo's. After I got my quote I was impressed to see that Paulo went above my expectations by showing me pictures of the issues with his iPhone and explained everything in laymen terms. And I could tell that he's passionate about what he does and loves helping people with their cars - it's not just a job or business for him. He also showed me that he had my best interest in mind by recommending only $600 worth of repairs as essential and told me that if he was me that he wouldn't do the other $1700 repair until much further into the future given my situation and goal of just doing the essentials which he didn't know before hand. And for context: the $1700 repair was for the main issue that I came in for and the other $600 was stuff that he found when checking on my car. Also he's a great communicator (via phone and text) and works significantly faster then other mechanics I've gone to in the past and he provides an invoice with a clear breakdown of exactly everything he's charging you for. While working on my car he even called me and mentioned that the back windshield wiper was bad (which I already knew but had totally forgotten about) and told me that he could do it for $20 while he was working on it and have it done by the end of the day and had the price already prepared so I was able to take care of the wipers which I had been meaning to do and was glad that he noticed it and called because now I have that taken care of for my cross country road trip! Finally when everything was done I went in to pickup the car, reviewed the invoice and paid. As I was swiping my card Paulo double checked the invoice and noticed that there was a mistake on one of the prices for a part and brought it to my attention just after I paid the amount that I thought was fine. He immediately refunded the difference and apologized for the mistake which I didn't even notice being someone who doesn't know a lot about cars. Some might think that maybe someone might do that on purpose but knowing Paulo from my local church I could tell that it was an honest mistake and that he was being genuine. And after all that I tried giving him a cash tip for his great service and honesty and he graciously declined saying that he loves what he does and enjoys helping people. And as a college student I actually really appreciated that because I ended up spending significantly less then I thought I would overall! Thank you Paulo! I will be coming back to you for all my auto repair needs! read more

I had to unexpectedly drop my hybrid car at their front door on a monday morning at 5am without appointment or call to scan my car for a hybrid battery code (as it was failing) Nathan and Paulo were able to scan my car thankfully and even waived the fee. Now maybe that doesnt sound like much to another person but that's what I call true customer service and is what I think it when I think about small town businesses! I've lived on the coast my whole life, and have used Paulo many times, he's as good as it gets. Today I popped my truck tire. I was able to take off all of the lug nuts except for one. The last one stripped. Luckily I was within walking distance to Paulo's shop. I explained the situation, and he had the exact tools needed to takeoff that last nut. Without even blinking an eye, he came and helped me take it off. I could tell he was busy but he still took the time to help me. While Paulo helped, his son was able to order me an extra lug nut within minutes, And by the time we got back to the shop it was already there!. He truly save me a lot of time and money! I offered to pay, but he wouldn't except any money. There's not many people/businesses that are truly genuine especially nowadays, but they are. Came in for tire mounting, balancing, and alignment... Tired mounted okay.... but balanced terribly my wheel was shaking like crazy at 50 mph Came back and told him my problem, said no prob we will fix it... All they did was take wheels off the front and slap them in back where you won't feel the imbalance as much... wheel still shook but much less Paulo tried convincing me my rims are bent and that was why they couldn't be balanced... which wasn't true because it was perfect when I brought the car in.... Had a mechanic friend look at their job. He said they did a shit job... you can tell they did not clean the rim to install the stick on weights... that's a huge no no.... the weights will fall off since they just stuck it to all the grease and grime on the rim... They also attached 15+ weights to each wheel... My once awesome looking 22" rims now had silver weights visible all over!!! Paulo offered a partial refund of 60 dollars after I tried having him rebalance the tires since I was convinced they did a crap job and noticed all they did was slap the back tires up front.... they didn't want to do it and cleaned their hands of me offering the partial refund .... Glad they did because I took it to Phil's tire in Hmb.... Literally owner laughed when he saw what they did.... He fixed their mess. Removed all the stupid weights and placed them on the inside where they were before and out of view... Wheels now balanced perfect Do not recommend Paulo's for tire, rims, or balancing.... I think my alignment might be a tad off but I don't want to take my car back.... my friend also got their wheels aligned there a week before me and she is complaining the alignment is also off.... I'd vote 1 star, but since Paulo gave me partial refund to take it to a place that knows what they are doing so 2 stars.... otherwise it was a huge waste of time read more

I had my 2006 Toyota Corolla in another shop for a few days due to an oil leak. When the other shop couldn't find the problem I took it to Nathan at Paulo's. Within 1 hour of dropping my car off, they had it on the rack and found the problem as a loose oil filter due to a recent oil change. I asked them to check all belts and hoses and perform a safety inspection. They found the serpentine belt was cracking. I had them replace the belt and change the pads on the front breaks as well as turning the roters. All the work was completed the same day with cost just over $500. Paulo's has a new very satisfied customer! I'm also taking my roommates car for service this coming week. Great to find an honest reliable shop on the coast. read more

Amazing service!! Yesterday morning I called to ask if they could order a cabin air filter for my car. Five minutes later they called back with a quote and said they could have it at the shop in half an hour if I was interested. I drove over and Paolo himself immediately installed it (took maybe 3 minutes) and I was finished in less than an hour from my original call. Incredible! In addition, when I asked how dirty the old one had been, he immediately went back into the shop and brought it out for me to inspect. Added to that are the friendly people and convenient location. I will never take my car to anyone else! read more

So I brought my truck in to get the power windows fixed. They initially said that they could fix it and charged me about $100 to say that the electrical system for my windows were broken, which I knew already, and they'd call me when the parts come in to have it fixed. After weeks went by with me calling every Monday for follow up, the mysterious order of parts never came in. Later my truck broke down just outside of half moon bay and I got it towed to Paulo's since it was closest. Paulo accepted the truck and the next day, paulo calls me saying my gas gauge was busted and the truck was out of gas. Again I had to pay another $100 for his assessment and my gauge wasn't fixed. The only good thing about this place is that Paulo does stay late at the shop and will accept your vehicle after hours but aside from that, I wouldn't waste my money at this place. read more

Do NOT go here!!! This guy screwed up on my car twice and over-charges on everything. Brake pad job - used after-market pads on a Toyota that does not handle NON-Toyota parts. He should have known better! Brakes were rubbing and grinding a week later/had to take back for a fix. AC fix 4 years ago and he sold me a compressor that busted AFTER 4 years ($1,300).....just had a new and honest mechanic over the hill fix it for LESS THAN HALF that price - new compressor, etc. When I called to complain about the BAD compressor, I was told that I was being rude, they would not help me or deal with me and then they hung up on me. HMB locals continually get shafted by these local mechanics - I just don't get it?! read more

This review is overdue. I love these guys. They have been so helpful and so courteous to this ol' gal. I completely trust these guys to do the right thing, encourage the necessary improvements and put off what's not necessary at the moment. I've pulled in a few times now (without an appointment) just on my way out of town for them to do a quick check on a dashboard light, test drive to research a new noise, or a quick air pressure adjustment on all the tires. With my regular appointments they give me reasonable time frames and always within the budget estimated. They are the BEST. read more

These guys are life savers!!! Got stranded with a blown out tire. Cameron and Nathan went out of their way to get me taken care of. No, this wasn't anything typical. My car does not come with a spare (much to my surprise), I was out if town and needing to get back home to Sacramento. And I don't exactly have a normal run of the mill tire. They found one for me, got it to me and kept me company the whole day while we waited for said tire. No gimmicks, great honest guys and they got me home safe and sound. I was on a road trip with my wife and on our way down to LA from SF we ran into a little car trouble. Worried that an issue with the power steering would impact the rest of our trip, I found Paulo's shop and stopped in. He was closed for the day but still offered to take a look at the car.
