This is the Nordstrom and Ritz Carlton of dentist offices. I was so bummed when Dr. Roemer moved from her Oakland office to her Walnut Creek office several years ago. The transition to a new dentist at her old Oakland location was a difficult one. Her team made me look forward to going to the dentist. I always felt well informed and cared for by her team. Her office was the first dental office I've ever been to that measure your gum health in detail and examine each tooth for fractures and cracks carefully. I was impressed! I trust her and her team 110%. I know that they are interested in patient care and was not just interested in rushing patients in and out and maximizing reimbursement from insurance companies. I don't review much, but I thought Dr. Roemer's care, bedside manner and overall interactions were definitely deserving of a positive review! First and foremost- Dr. Roemer's staff is amazing. From their scheduling staff, their hygienists and ultimately their dentist. They make it a point to know your name and they get to know you on a fairly personal level which I like. I'm one of the "I hate going to the dentist" people but from the start Dr. Roemer was calm and very clear on what steps needed to be taken to achieve my overall goals. I didn't receive any hidden charges outside of what was quoted which is HUGE to me. Most import, she was GENTLE when performing the procedures. She takes the time to answer any questions, and I have never felt rushed when dealing with Dr. Roemer. I'm a huge fan and I've already recommended several of my coworkers. I have to agree with Mary R....not about the Ritz-Carlton of Dental Offices, but that Dr. Roemer and her staff are most concerned about your Dental health. They are much more thorough and detailed compared to other practices I have been to, and very willing to go over treatment options. Every procedure has been discussed in detail and it has been clearly explained how it related to my health. I have had cavities filled here, and unlike at other practices, this is done swiftly and without fuss or pain. I have not had issues with billing, appointments, and so forth. While pricing seems to be a little above the standard UCR in the area, I feel the Quality of Care I receive is worth it. In short, I have a great deal of confidence in Dr. Roemer and her staff--much, much more than I have had in any other Dental Practice that has ever treated me. I have never been kept waiting for hours without explanation, have always been treated with great respect, and never once talked down to. I highly recommend Dr. Roemer. New Year! New Goals! I am so excited to be working with Dr. Roemer & her team in improving my overall Dental Care. Since my last review. I've had my last 2 fillings done by Dr. Roemer which has been by far the best experience. I love her technique as a dentist especially when it comes to her numbing process. Updated to = ZERO STARS = I've just received yet *another* call from Dr. Roemer's office to schedule an appointment when I haven't seen her in since 2009. I've told them on *two occasions* that my insurance has changed, I'm seeing another dentist (for over a year) to which they've replied - each time - that they will close my file. If my file is closed, why are they still calling me??? GEEZ! By the way last time (see previous review) they called me ~3 times so simply ignoring the call doesn't work. Sad to say that I've had to resort to blocking the office number to avoid these solicitous phone calls. Unfortunately, they have several different extensions so I'll have to add them one by one each time I tell them that my file is closed with them. *sigh* read more

The funny thing is... all of these "former" patients are talking about her high prices when I found it was quite the opposite! I was having major issues with my last dentist because there were inconsistencies in my billing and absolutely no transparency. Have you ever had a claim filed for a service that should have been billed at half that price?! It's not fun. So - I went to Dr. Roemer on a recommendation. I was impressed by her professionalism, and it was nice to see how open they were about explaining costs for treatment and letting me choose my options. Not sure if people understand that running a dental clinic located at Downtown Walnut Creek with the finest tools and professionals, it costs a lot more that the Western Dental in Pittsburg, Concord, etc- no offense. I have been going to Dr. Roemer for years at the current and prior location. Ignore the complaints. These guys are pros. It is true they do offer some services, but dentists have to make money too. In the end, I find they care about my teeth and my health in general and do a solid job. They are very friendly and professional. I'd recommend Dr. Roemer no problem. I went in to see Dr. Pink for a teeth cleaning and was thrilled to have him tell me that Dr. Roemer would be able to do an implant I needed "in-house". I met with Dr. Roemer the same day and set up an appointment right away. When she asked if I had any questions I told her that I didn't because I trust that she is capable in her profession. I had not read any reviews prior to seeing her but I have been very pleased. The office staff is nice and helpful whether in person or on the phone. I feel welcomed when I arrive for my appointment by both the front and back office staff. Dr. Roemer had to drill into my jawbone for my implant and I literally had no pain after the appointment. There was one point during the apoointment that the local anesthetic had worn off some. I was given another small shot and we proceeded without any further discomfort. From the beginning I was told that my implant procedure may not require all the services/charges outlined in my treatment plan and have had discussions about the possibility of a refund of some of the money I paid up front. I don't feel as though they are trying to get extra money from me as some of the reviews suggest. My experience has been wonderful thus far. read more

They don't try to hard push unnecessary treatments. Every interaction is poised to who you are, what treatments you need, whatever they can do to help you. It's all about you. Of course having gone there so long, I have preferences. All staff and Hygienists are very friendly and very professional. But Julie is my favorite Hygienist. I also have to agree with the other people who have given Dr. Roemer one star. I went almost 2 years ago for a root canal. I went there on a referral from a good friend of mine who is still a patient of Dr. Roemer. The service was excellent and the environment was like that of being at a spa. I watched almost two movies because of the length of the treatment. And yes, it is pricey but the attentiveness, I thought, was worth it. Dr. Roemer even called me at night to see how I was doing. Having said that, a week later I went for a follow up and I sat down with Dr. Roemer for what my treatment plan would be. I also got the talk that I needed advanced gum treatment, that they would send me to a lab to get lab work done for DNA typing to see what type of bacteria lived in my oral cavity and was causing the gum disease. Yes, I was having a little bit of inflammed gums at the time but never has any dentist ever told me I had severe gum disease. Like the other person that posted, I was shocked and got very afraid. I did not go back, and a few months after I went there I would get voice mails urging me to make an appt. I simply decided not to go there. And yes, the treatment was eye balled to be about $4000 and right away they were offering ways to pay. To make this long story shorter.. Today I went to a new dentist in downtown Walnut Creek and I was amazed and relieved when the doctor said I did need four fillings but that my gums are in good condition. I do need to floss more and gave a $10 rinse that he wants me to do for seven days, but that was IT! This is my first time writing a review and I felt compelled to do it only because of the other stories I read and because they resonated with my situation. And, I did find my new doctor here on Yelp. I mean, if you have the money and you want spa treatment then Dr. Roemer and her staff are there but I don't think it's right to charge for treatment that is so expensive and that you might not even need. read more

The office is nice, high-tech equipment, fast service, good first impression. But... it was too expensive for me compared to other dentists where I get the same quality of service. The X-rays and the cleaning cost over $500 and were not fully covered by my insurance. I wanted to wait because I was going to have a new dental insurance, so my co-pay would have been lower. The office staff offered me to drop the co-pay if I would stay. So I did, but they still sent me a bill... I was also told that I'm developing a gum disease. The treatment plan estimate was over $2000. I saw another dentist to confirm the diagnoses, but they couldn't confirm it. I never experienced anything similar with my former dentists, that's why I decided to not go back to Dr. Roemer's office. read more

This dental office feels more like a used car dealership. The dentist and her staff keep trying to upsell services. Dr. Roemer tried to convince me to place a crown on a tooth that had a cavity not noticing that I had already fixed the problem in the specific tooth with my other dentist using an ordinary filling. I used this office for cleaning service only, and they kept pushing for deep cleaning.
