Along the Freedom Trail between Paul Revere's House and the famous Old North Church, the Paul Revere Mall is dominated by this equestrian statue of the hero, Paul Revere. The sculpture captures the urgency and drama of Revere's legendary midnight ride where he warned the colonists that the British are coming!
Created by American sculptor Cyrus Edwin Dallin, the statue was unveiled in 1940 after decades of planning and fundraising. Dallin, who had long championed public art that honored American heritage, chose to depict Revere mid-gallop, reins taut, his posture alert and commanding. The horse's raised front leg and Revere's forward gaze evoke motion and purpose, symbolizing his role in rallying colonial resistance on the eve of revolution.
The statue remains one of the most photographed and admired monuments in the city, blending artistry, patriotism, and urban storytelling.
